trip
the USA's attitude to violence and sex. Endless violence is fine but saying 'f*ck' on the radio or showing a bit of nipple is the end of the world. this pretty much sums up how backwards our culture is. The weird thing is it wasn't always that way. Believe it or not it was nearly reversed at one point. Sex and sexuality was excepted(and expected) and violence as entertainment was pretty rare. You don't even have to go too far back. Pick up some 70s PG rated movies and there is a good chance you will see boob. Can they even show boob in a PG-13 rated movie these days? I wouldn't be surprised if some time down the line they find a link to violence due to sexual repression. Maybe that is why we have seen more crazy killers lately - not enough boob in movies. shitposter
Do you really want little 5 year old Johnny to see a bondaged milf getting covered in streams of cum? Because that's when little Johhny become big Johnny, who then becomes big Joannie and is the one being covered in streams of cum by a bunch of other shemales. that's some deep sh*t
Mister Pink
Interesting trip and el_diablo. I just watched this the other night. It looks at censorship in the USA and the anonymous people that run it. It's very good. 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿

LibertyKing
Censor comes from Adam and Eve which eaten an apple that made them find nudity disgusting. (Christian) Religion created most laws and ethical public behavior rules on our planet. Why is it illegal to kill someone ? Because God wants it. Why do we need to wear clothes ? Because God wants it. "Because God wants it" was the most used excuse by Christian church. On the other hand, racism comes from Europeans, which thought that they were the masters of the world and they could control anything. Europeans were always viewed at the top. Their rule needed to apply everywhere on Earth. IMO, gore and strong violence should be censored but not nudity, which is natural.
El Dildo
(Christian) Religion created most laws and ethical public behavior rules on our planet. that is soooooo not true. you think laws and ethics didn't exist before Christianity? you're sadly mistaken. public laws and morality existed LONG before Christianity. Why is it illegal to kill someone ? Because God wants it. Why do we need to wear clothes ? Because God wants it. virtually every culture and society on Earth has had laws against murder. we're talking about cultures and societies that predate Christianity and the Bible by thousands of years. god - if he even exists - did not have to tell anyone that murder is bad. we figured that out for ourselves LONG before organized religions came along. as for wearing clothes, that even predates homosapiens (human beings). there is sufficient evidence that certain Neanderthal tribes were already covering themselves with furs and animal hides. so much for "because god wants it" racism comes from Europeans this is also totally untrue. Europeans were not the first people to hate others because they were different. humanity has been doing that since the dawn of time. there's plenty of racism around the globe that has existed well before "Europeans" were even a nation of people. tribal nations from Africa and Indochina, to South America and Native Indians; they've all found reasons to go to war with each other based on superficial differences (AKA racism). it's not like Europeans had to invent the idea of hating people just because they're different. this is fundamental flaw in human beings in general. it has nothing to do with Europeans... sivispacem
You only need to look at tribal violence in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia to see that hatred based on predetermined, segregationist characteristics is hardly just a Western phenomenon. Mince
I think it's obvious that kid or family-centered shows shouldn't have excessive nudity or violence. However, in terms of nudity and swearing, for example, being censored on major networks, I do think it's ridiculous and unnecessary. As has been said by the wise people above me, things like this are only taboo because we designate them as such. It is true that people can easily see the stuff when looking it up themselves, but then again, that works for the argument of just not censoring it, because it will be seen in some form anyway. Creating taboo around sexuality is what leads people to do abhorrent things like raping and abusing. Regular, consensual sexuality is harmless. If you watch a movie where there is a rating/warning about it having nudity, you are not being forced to see such things. Therefore, it's ridiculous to censor it. Pornography in general is a harmless contributor to the markets that provides jobs and creates things that people will pay to enjoy. The same applies to the rare tit slip in a movie: it's part of the film. It should not be censored. Sex scenes fall under this as well. Onto the violence part: I don't think it should be going anywhere. I think that violent video games, movies, TV, etc. are okay. Whether we like it or not, there are many people who have urges of this type. There may not necessarily be a large part of the population that wants to go on a murdering spree, but people with violent urges are always going to exist. Censoring violence will lead to people wanting to experience it for themselves. Violent movies, TV, games, etc. are an outlet for these urges. Furthermore, they serve as entertainment for plenty of other people (as I said, a contribution to our markets and economies).
Fireman
I think the difference between murdering millions of zombies and nudity/swearing is with the ability to re-enact it. You can't just re-enact a million explosions and shoot hundreds of people without getting into a lot of trouble. Taking off your clothes or swearing seems a lot easier. lil weasel
Are we subject to Government censorship of the news: US state of Wyoming, Casper College was put on lockdown after reports of the attacks, said the city's police chief Chris Walsh, adding that the suspected attacker was one of the two dead in a room where a class was in progress. He said a "sharp-edged weapon" was used in the attack on the third-floor classroom. Strangely no call for weapon control?
Clem Fandango
Melchior, my sarcasm detector could be off But there is a good amount of damage that could be done to a child for them seeing it. I am sure you already know that I'd like to know specifically what would happen to a child if they witnessed some deviant sexual act. I really don't think it's a big deal at all. 018361
I do think it is silly. If we didn't make those " vulgar " words seem bad children wouldn't want to abuse them as much as they do when they use them. If calling someone a word is bad and offensive then when I get angry and want to offend someone I will just use said word to offend them. If the word in question isn't bad then they will have to resort to using words like stupid and doo-doo head which are far less threatening. Oh and also stuff on T.V. shouldn't be censored as much as it is. Sex is bad, but murdering someone and watching their guts fly into the air and spill out all over the place isn't? Please! TonyResta
I've always seen almost full nudes on TV here in Italy and not necessarily after a certain time or on certain channels. Seems much less censored than the US.
