@Adriaan,

I would love to go there. But they only hire pilots that have an enormous amount of experience, 2000h+ total time and 500h+ on jets, so I can't even apply (as I only have a total time of 207h sigh.gif ). This applies to basically everyone nowadays, as the market is full with unemployed pilots, unfortunately.

However, yesterday (for some funny reason) I was suddenly allowed to apply at THY, even though you usually need a lot of experience for them as well. Chances are extremely slim to actually get taken, but it's worth a shot.

Meanwhile I'm also trying to become an air traffic controller, but I'm still in between several assessment centers and that's all taking forever as well.

EDIT:

To the post below me: Thanks cookie.gif , if you ever read this. lol.gif (Didn't want to bloat this thread any further with this).

I voted "yes" even though my life is far from complete... Some may think it's going steeply downhill because I have kinda become inactive with my friends, but to be fair, that's just me, I love being alone. I can't say I'm perfect though, I still live with my parents at the age of 18, and don't have a car, but those are... arrangeable. Getting rid of my fear of dogs, now that's something that may take a bit longer. The reason why I want to get over it is because I have recently dreamt a lot about having a pet, just to keep company in case I actually do feel lonely at some point. And, well, a dog would be the most sympathetic by a long margin, I believe.

It could be much better, but I'm not complaining. I have health and friends, that matters.

I found a rock on the ground a few days ago and have been carrying it around in my pocket in hopes that it's a lucky rock or something. biggrin.gif

I have a rock from when I was 14 that I would carry, it was an odd shape and I enjoyed just tossing it up and down and fiddling it through my fingers, it's good to keep your mind off things, and you have something haha.

I put Yes. I am relatively happy with how things are going, occasionally I feel downsome, like I am not doing enough with myself and need to spend more time with certain people and such. But other day's I am content with what I am doing.

If you're able to view and reply to this thread and answer no, you need to get some f*cking perspective.

I'm guessing the worst thing that happened to you is losing on mortal kombat

you see things happen in people's lives, they lose loved ones for instance, hard to be happy about your life after losing a loved one.

or if someone is stuck in a dead end job they won't be happy about their life, maybe feel they are wasting their potential

a lot of reasons and a lot of ways to be unhappy about your life, either could be bad or it could be jsut disappointing, like you are not where you expected to be and such

basically the 22 months after my mother's death would be a prime example, I became bi-polar, that was no picnic.

to answer the question Yes, if you had asked me a few months ago then it would be a hope things improve, but right now I am probably better than I have ever been. I would not say perfect but almost.

Sweet burn.

Everyone loses loved ones. It is literally a part of life. It f*cking sucks and everyone knows this. Am I gonna be happy when my next friends or family member dies. F*ck no, duh. But it is not the end of your life and you will get over it eventually.

Being struck with a mental illness is no joke either, but you can seek help, and it will sort you out. I don't know you, but I do know there are people that care about you, even if it's a doctor you've never met before you walked in the office.

If you're in a "dead end job" that doesn't mean you're stuck. If you really want to be happy, study something you would enjoy doing. If you feel like you;re wasting your potential that is only one person's fault, and we all know who it is. It's not always easy. sh*t, you might have to give up some sleep every night, but it's the price you pay.

you seem to have misunderstood the question

in the question "are you happy with your life?"

the answer no is relevant AND CORRECT if you are merely disappointed, you can still be happy but if you are disappointed in some way like a dead-end job then the answer no is relevant

you are confusing this with the question "are you happy"

it's all in the wording

also I can't take credit for the "sweet burn", it must go to seeley booth tounge.gif

I never sought the help of a doctor, cos I knew I would be put on drugs and I really hate that idea, treating a mental disorder chemically.

The help of several very good friends got me through some don't even know it.

Right I'm just gonna ignore the rest of the discussion, 'cos this is an actual serious point. Proper depression, bi-polar disorder and other mood-related mental illnesses are exactly that: illnesses. It does not make anyone weak to need professional (chemical or otherwise) help with them, you simply got unlucky if you got it. Suffering in silence from something like that is just like sitting at home with a gangrenous leg because you don't like antibiotics.

Many, many people do not understand that actual, properly diagnosed conditions like BPD and clinical depression are results of chemical imbalances in the brain and inherited genetic traits. If you honestly think you're suffering from one of these illnesses get professional help.

A lot of time, especially on the internet for some reason, people like to throw around terms and self-diagnose mental illnesses/condition (aspergers and depression especially) and it's just a slap in the face to all who actually suffer from these coniditions in earnest.

E: Note: I mean the general "you", not the person I'm quoting.

A year ago, I was having the best time of my life, if I read this topic a year ago I would have chosen It's brilliant but I fear things may go down hill, but now instead I have chosen Not Currently but I hope it gets better. Although I have only lost one thing that made me choose this, I am rich, I have the car of my dreams, working my dream job and doing an extraordinary well in it, and I have been surrounded by the best people around me. But because of my fear of things to go down I have lost the most valuable thing that made everything unimportant to me, which it is wrong to think like that.

Just be grateful of what you currently have, don't think or regret the stuff you lost, then you will be truly happy.

I said yes. I'm engaged to a woman I love with all my heart, I make a very reasonable amount of money. Only stress I got is this smoking habit I'm trying to get rid of. I love my life and even if things were different I'd still feel the same way.

I said no and hoping it gets better here are my reason why:

. No job

.don't get along and talk much with my mum and brother which makes me very sad

.don't have a pet

Not currently but hopefully (probably will) be better in the future. Right now my grades are VERY low (some Cs, mainly Ds and Fs) and I'm trying to raise them to at least a C level. When summer starts, hopefully all of this unwanted stress will be lifted.

Life's a complicated thing, it has it's ups and downs.

On a day to day basis I'm a pretty happy person. I smile and laugh alot, all that good stuff.

On the long term though, I wouldn't say I'm too happy. I'm not exactly sure what it is that does it though.. I think overall life is depressing in a way.

It's kind of along the lines of 'I'm really happy listening to my favorite song at the moment, but in the end I'm going to die along with everyone I've ever known or cared about and this moment of me enjoying my favorite song is ultimately meaningless and serves no overall purpose in the grand scheme of things..' lol

It's a rather pessimistic point of view on things but it's simply the reality of it all. It's nice being ignorant towards that fact though, I do like to go as long as I can without thinking about the inevitable.

I think it is one thing for people to be complaining unwarranted, but the thread specifically asks if you are happy.

I agree some people find the dumbest things to complain about, but not everyone

That's not a healthy attitude. If it's inevitable, why should you waste time and energy thinking about it? Worrying is pointless.

My life situation isn't great compared to most people here. I'm currently unemployed and I'm not in college, I can't have a girlfriend because I don't feel prepared for it, and I don't really do any interesting things. I'm not unhappy because I simply choose not to think about it. Most of human psychological suffering comes from thoughts. When you realize that this is the source of your problems and you can be aware when thoughts try to bring you down, you will no longer be unhappy.

Start using your mind for useful things and stop it from controlling you.

Hard to say.

Everyday, my mood changes. Sometimes my life is easy, sometimes it's hard. But to sum it up, I'm having a pretty good life, but I think it might go down the hill.

What was your first clue?

I think there should be a "things are great, always have been, and always will be because I'm so smart, competent, attractive and popular" option.

Yes, I am, but not 100%.

Right now things seem ok with my life, i'm on course to be going to university in september, i'm doing well at college also and it's approaching summer which is always a positive in my eyes.

I seem to go through patches however were I am not as happy as usual, and about a year ago I split up with my girlfriend, was doing bad at college and having arguments at home, mostly due to laziness because I was smoking too much weed and i'd say I even go to a state of depression. I had a added weight on my mind, something we all have in common, how quick life seems to fly by as we get older. The thought of death, and seeing loved ones eventually die even more so had been bothering me non-stop for months, as if i'd got to the point in my life were I realised just how short and insignificant our individuals lives are.

However, the thing i've learnt recently is there is one rule, and one rule only to life; it is what you make it. So i've began to ignore any negative thoughts, and refuse to ever be unhappy, there is simply no point in it because at the end of the day we're all heading towards the same fate and we'll soon be forgotten and just be another statistic on a death register, so make the f*cking most of every second! biggrin.gif

Love to you all, and don't forget to smile!

Same. I love my woman and I would like to kick smoking at some point. I've had bouts of depression from previous relationships and issues falling through but that is part of life. I have a baby on the way and she will be born in three months. I've been working a job for over three years which is only barely above minimum wage at $10 an hour but I'm ok with that. I have a roof over my head and I can still buy nice things and have groceries in the house.

I've had struggles. But right now, things are pretty good. I get stressed out but I know from what I've been through I'm a strong person and I can handle things. No one wants a depressing life. Mine turned around real quickly when I said f*ck this I'm going for it. I would like some things to change such as my overall health that I've slacked on but again this is something I can change with effort.

I used to be overweight and dropped 80 pounds. That was a good step for me. Now I would like to get in better shape with due time. I have some dental issues I need to work out, but in due time. Generally speaking I have some stress. But when I lay my head down at night I am grateful for the good things that have happened to me and the bad because it is all a learning experience and reminds me that I am human.

So yes. I am pretty happy.
