Not currently but hope it gets better. I've been irritable for no apparent reason lately. My life is far from sh*t and everything, but I just don't feel well. I cldon't really like where I live, people are annoying, I just don't know hoe to explain how I feel. But at the moment anything negative can get to me and make me feel down.

It'll get better though... When school ends... In several months... bored.gif

It's not school work or any of that that stresses me(i've been getting mostly A's all year, my lowest grade being an 86 out of these three six weeks), it's some of the people.

I found a rock on the ground a few days ago and have been carrying it around in my pocket in hopes that it's a lucky rock or something. biggrin.gif

Other than that I have enough friends and stuff to do to be happy right now. My only problems at the moment are slight paranoia (I'd rather not go into it) and my inability to tell the person I love that I love him (which is kind of ironic because he's the person I'm most open to talk to about things.)

Yes, I am. Even though there are plenty of reasons to be upset about I manage to be pleased with my life.

Some mild feelings of discomfort come, and then they go away as I become aware of them. They are all illusions.

"Not currently but I hope it gets better"

I have:

- no girl (never had a girlfriend - too shy, always come off as a friend instead of more than a friend)

- no career (instead I am very poor working a simple job that anyone can do without even a high school degree)

I want:

-A wonderful woman that's smart, funny, understanding that would make a good mother to my children + eventual family

-A good paying job that's stable that challenges me in ways that a grocery store job never can

I am a happy person but the topic is asking about life. I have been making great strides in confidence and being able to get along with people. Politically I am happy because Obama got re-elected. I have lots of good things going my way that I shouldn't take for granted. I have a steady 40 hour job that pays bills. I have many great friends. I have a very loving and caring family. I have my health. I am fortunate enough to have a little bit of money to do some traveling. I'm going to San Francisco in two weeks to visit my cousin, then driving to Carson City, Nevada to see where I lived when I was a kid.

No, I am not happy with where I am in my life right now. But I sure do hope it gets better then this, because it's running my blood pressure up.

I find it funny, how from very strange disgusting posts you went to very deep and serious ones.

Back OT:

Not really, everything is going downhill and at a high speed and i spend all my energy in keeping myself look and be happy, while my life never really has been so bad, for the moment its getting pretty bad.

No, not at all at the moment to be honest. I'm stuck at college doing things I don't want to study and it is impossible to get a job/apprenticeship. Also some other sh*t happening is making situations worse.

How so? Some people's lives are legitimately bad. There's not much you can do when work/school is grinding you down every day, or you don't have the balls to ask the girl you like out, or you're dying of cancer or losing your leg to diabetes.

Sure you can try to look at the bright side of life, but some people really can't find a bright side.

I answered yes. I could do with a little less stress, but that would mean less pay.

I'm guessing the worst thing that happened to you is losing on mortal kombat

you see things happen in people's lives, they lose loved ones for instance, hard to be happy about your life after losing a loved one.

or if someone is stuck in a dead end job they won't be happy about their life, maybe feel they are wasting their potential

a lot of reasons and a lot of ways to be unhappy about your life, either could be bad or it could be jsut disappointing, like you are not where you expected to be and such

basically the 22 months after my mother's death would be a prime example, I became bi-polar, that was no picnic.

to answer the question Yes, if you had asked me a few months ago then it would be a hope things improve, but right now I am probably better than I have ever been. I would not say perfect but almost.

or you're dying of cancer or losing your leg to diabetes.

Those two, I'll give you.

But only 1.5b on the planet have any kind of access to the internet, and there's nearly 1b people on the planet who are completely illiterate. When you live in a first world nation, or live a first world lifestyle in an ELDC, happiness is a choice. It's not always an easy choice, but that's why it's worth it.

Work or school is getting you down? Nobody is forcing you to be there* and it doesn't have to define your life. Either leave, or find something that makes you happy outside of work and remember that your job is just something you do to give you the option of happiness (i.e. $$$$). If you're at school studying for something that doesn't make you happy or won't make you happy in the future, then why are you there?

Don't have the balls to ask that person out? Well whose f*cking fault is that? Why do you give a f*ck what the answer is? If it's yes, how f*cking awesome is that? If no, then it wouldn't have worked out anyway but at least you know and can move on.

Happiness is a choice. When my house got burgled last year, I lost a lot of sh*t through absolutely no fault of my own. It was then that I had an epiphany: Bad sh*t is going to happen in life whether you're sat around on you're arse or not. Good sh*t will only happen if you get up and make it happen.

It's all about perspective.

*If you're still in compulsory education, I know this will fall on deaf ears, but sixteen year olds' outlooks on life change with the wind anyway.

Sweet burn.

Everyone loses loved ones. It is literally a part of life. It f*cking sucks and everyone knows this. Am I gonna be happy when my next friends or family member dies. F*ck no, duh. But it is not the end of your life and you will get over it eventually.

Being struck with a mental illness is no joke either, but you can seek help, and it will sort you out. I don't know you, but I do know there are people that care about you, even if it's a doctor you've never met before you walked in the office.

If you're in a "dead end job" that doesn't mean you're stuck. If you really want to be happy, study something you would enjoy doing. If you feel like you;re wasting your potential that is only one person's fault, and we all know who it is. It's not always easy. sh*t, you might have to give up some sleep every night, but it's the price you pay.

@I So Brink

But if you're truly not happy you just aren't happy. Sadness, depression, and woe are words that exist in our language because they're actual feelings. Some people (most of us on this forum included) are some of the luckiest people in the world statistically, but that won't change the fact that a few of us wake up and go through our days feeling like sh*t.

If happiness and good perspective were as easy a thing to attain as you say they are than there probably wouldn't be "no" answers on this poll.

You dont know how lucky you are, man i wish i was still at school, life was so much easier back then. You wont understand what im saying until you reach the age of 20, then you'll know school life was breeze. Not a care in the world.

No, of course not. My life sucks, and each day I try to think of reasons why I shouldn't just end it and these reasons usually stop me from saying " that's it, i'm done " and go off to end my life. I am actively trying to change myself for the better so that my future can be better. I tell myself I can be all these great things, but when reality kicks in, so does the depression and anger. I don't know what to do and because of my fathers early demise and my brothers and sisters being abusive for my entire childhood and it still being carried on into my adulthood I have end up being a total mamma's-boy. It's funny really, because in my mind I imagine myself being a great guy who always thinks of others before himself and is a talented person who everyone loves and I trick myself into believing that. Each day I think to myself " tomorrow will be better " and it never is. I am always the same talent less guy that everyone for some reason hates. Whatever my future holds, whether it be my demise or my success, should hopefully without a doubt be better than this current agonizing pile of sh*p I try to call a life.

If you answered No, while whatever I say cannot change your current situation, I'm just going to give this general piece of advise or attempt at motivation I usually give people - whether online, or in person:

Currently, as humans, statistically speaking, most of us have it better than what humans have had it before. In the past, only a few elite got to live as we do now. Yes, we still live in a world where things like slavery exists. While this is probably a bad thing to say but, while people who have to wake up into slavery every day - you're not. You have the freedom to make the best of your time here on the planet and, in my opinion, your little time here in this universe.

Try and find happiness where you can find it. Even it's a forum, a video game - or anything else on the internet. Don't be embarrassed by it. Whatever works for you.

Perhaps I'm saying this because I live in Africa - and I know that I have it better than the majority of the people that live on this continent. So even if things get really sh*t, like when I'm mugged or whatever, I know that it doesn't come close to the trauma and stress a lot of people on this continent - and wider planet, has to go through EVERY day.

We have it pretty good compared to a lot of people. Be glad, it could be worse.

I answered yes because I'm able to wake up each morning with a smile on my face, and that's a good enough measure of satisfaction for me.

I'm often conflicted with this idea of happiness, though, because there are other things I'd love to be doing with my life, but can't because my current one restricts it. for example, i'd love to just forget about all monetary needs - like f*cking insurance deductibles - and spend my entire life traveling the world, living and working with various communities, and living by the bread that i earn. different peoples and their respective cultures is something that's always fascinated me and even if i'll live a good 70 years it wouldn't be enough time to get acquainted with them all, but mainly it's my current life that prevents me from doing so, and it's not something i think i could give up at this point in time. in that respect, i'm very sad.

Triple Vacuum Seal

Very complex question. Despite being happy overall, I'm in the "not currently..." category because I'm currently building a foundation for the rest of my life to be wonderful. This obviously comes with a lot of sacrifices. I am very pleased with the progress in my life. It's just bothersome to know my sacrifices could be in vain as I could die at any moment...

...first world problems though.

Honestly, No I am not happy.

As Adriaan said we have things really good in general, and I myself might have things better than most. And while that doesnt make me unhappy per say, Im not really happy.

I dont sleep very well at night, and I cant remember the last time I had a moment of joy that wasnt convoluted with worry. But I know this is just temporary and Im working toward getting out of this

I had an amazing sh*tty day at work, I will be working remotely this weekend and missing out on the holiday off on Monday thanks to a huge project going on. Not to mention this part of the project doesn't wrap up until [maybe] next Thursday...I'm stressed to the edge but your line just now changed my whole mood. Great stuff.

I voted: Not Currently but I hope it gets better. Mainly because I have no job right now, and no airline is hiring pilots, so I'm pretty stuck and this year doesn't look all too good either, so yeah, no job = no happy me.

Even though I must admit that it could be worse. If I see all the crazy things that happens in this world I'm still glad every morning that I'm healthy and don't have to live in a messed up country where you have to worry about your life every day.

I'd say I'm pretty happy! I've had a sh*t year, but f*ck it. I know it can be A LOT worse. So while my everyday feelings aren't as good as they once were, in general I'm happy.

Life's always got the possibility to get better and that's what keeps me positive. smile.gif

@Trund

You should try and have a look at the Middle East, maybe (e.g. UAE). I was talking to an airliner pilot's wife last year and she said that they value European pilots pretty well over there.
