Will you buy next gen on day 1?

Ok firstly, "day 1" basically means WITHIN A MONTH of release. It's too long to write that.

 

Well this stems from a reply I got in another thread, I believe most gamers will wait while another user disagrees. I thought it would be cool to see who is right.

 

How this relates to GTA V:

 

Personally, I just saw the Watch Dogs trailer and had my mind blown. It's clearly next gen, IMO the next gen Watch Dogs is the only real threat to GTA V in terms of an open world game. This ONLY applies to the next gen version, I don't see the current gen of Watch Dogs competing.

 

This poll is to see how many gamers will buy a next gen console soon after release, if a high percentage say that they will then Watch Dogs on next gen is probably GTA V's main competitor. If a low percentage say that they will buy a next gen console soon after release then I don't see Watch Dogs as a real threat.

 

Additionally, it could show how successful GTA V would be if it's released on next gen sometime early next year.

I put the price drop one because it's the most accurate, but the real reason I'll be waiting is so the technology is tested out by loads of people and they've had enough time to iron out any problems that come to the surface.

i probably won't buy either one unless some exclusive really appeals to me like God of War did which is over now, that being said i might pick one up when the prices drop just for the lulz so i chose the "won't buy next gen consoles until at least a year after their release. I can afford one now, but I'll wait for a price drop." option

I'll buy a new console after a year or two when Madden and NHL have worked out the next-gen kinks.

At first price drop for me... not because im cheap, but because that's the same time the first "changed for the better" console comes out.. the one that doesn't overheat... scratch disks... w/e, and its also around the same time the first actual decent game worth buying comes out.... People that buy day one are the same people that will get iPhone6 the day it drops, even though their last phone was an iPhone 5s+ final edition etc etc.....

I waited about two years before buying the PS3. Not going to buy it straight away. Those things are like £600. I also didn't buy GTA IV until about a year after it was released. Hardly a big deal. As long as I get the game at some point.

1) I can't really commit to any next gen consoles until I hear some more details concerning backward capacity, disc medium, support for used games, general specs, online subscriptions, etc.

 

2) I never pick up a new console until there are at least a dozen or so decent games released for it. I'm relatively picky, so I probably won't pick up a PS4 until another GTA and/or Red Dead have released. Agent, Fallout 4, and MGS5 would also be tempting, but I'd probably still wait for GTA VI. Since PS2, a console without a fresh GTA just feels hollow and incomplete to me.

I have no interest in buying a next gen console anytime soon, I'm happy with my current gen console. I will wait 2, possibly even 3 years or more to get one.

I can get one day one now that I have a job, back in 2005, 2006 i didnt have a job so I saved up my money and bought a 360 three yrs later, but for next gen ima wait a couple of months within these couple of month there are serveral factor that will dictate whether tim gunna buy the ps4 same year as launch or wait for a price drop

 

- glitches and bugs

- launch titles

- pricing

- my social circle

 

If there is RROD 2.0 and yellow light of doom 2.0 then im waiting a year for a price drop and possibly a new improved model, if the launch titles are sh*t ima wait a year till better game to hit the market and a price drop, if the launch pricing is to high, anything over 500 bucks it too much im gunna wait for a drop in price, if all my friends get the next gen consoles for christmas or launch im gunna be forced to buy it cuz I dont wanna be left out of interesting convos

I will buy it day 1. Midnight. Standing in the rain like PS3. It is a great experience with a new set of hardware when released and waiting for it. PS3 fatty is still kicking from Day 1.

So far, It's not very optimistic.

 

So far the cons:

Always online DRM

No second hand sales

No Backwards compatibility

 

I could live with No Backwards Compatibility and No Second Hand games, however, Always Online would piss me off way too much.

Nope. I could afford it if I wanted, but I have 2 gaming PC rigs and am in no rush. I'll eventually get the next gen consoles, though.

I won't be buying day 1 for many reasons, all of which many people have listed above.

 

I will wait for the second run where the early HW/SW problems have been fixed.

 

I will wait for price to come down, as it will have to in order to get the market going, since the opening prices for the next gen consoles will be an outrage.

 

I will wait to see how onerous is the DRM and all the related sh*t to keep me locked in or locked out of my freedom to play when, where and how I want.

 

I will wait for one or more killer titles to become available. That's really what has driven my console buying decisions in the past. I know it will be at least 6 or 7 years until GTA 6 is available on next gen, so no hurry there.

 

If I can play GTAV and its DLC for 3 to 4 years, I won't need next gen until then.

Regardless, I won't buy a "next gen" console until GTA VI releases.

 

(That should be another poll option IMO).
