lefantome Posted February 15, 2013 Share Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) With GTA V expected for september 17, 2013 another highly anticipated free roam title is coming few months later and it's going to be released on NEXT GEN and PC too. Will gta be overshadowed by watch dogs? What if GTA V will be delayed again and will be out just weeks or days before WD? (the september date is most likely a placeholder, the changed their minds in a span of weeks, how they can be sure about that date?) I think that it's likely that a good portion of gta hype will be taken by watch dogs which promises a new and innovative gameplay, also it's a next gen title and the comparison with gta graphics will be bad. There are a lot of non GTA fans who buy a GTA once or when it seems to be innovative. I think that a lot of them will choose Watch Dogs instead. Also don't forget PC players which will be playing watch dogs before gta v. Maybe a GTA V on next gen too could help. EDIT: IT'S A CURRENT GEN, NEXT GEN & PC GAME. thebestgameever Posted February 15, 2013 Share Posted February 15, 2013 One this i LOVED about the gameplay trailer of watchdogs was how immersive it looked, it had this style to it i have yet to see in an open world game. Controlling the map/game through the hacks I think will be VERY VERY fun. Graphically it was stunning and the game-play looked very well made. Only problem was how open will it be ( side-missions? how big the map is/how varied it is) and how scripted will it actually be ( less=better). Driving looked crap too, so annoying that 90% open world games chose to have these crappy, no skill arcade physics with 0 depth to it. I would still say i am more hyped for GTA V because in the two trailers i have seen more fun things to do and the map looks awesome for it. Firstly, the majority of people who are going to buy Grand Theft Auto V are not even going to be aware of Watch Dogs. GTA is such a mainstream title that it's not just limited to the core gamers who pay attention to E3 and saw that press demo. More importantly, the kind of money Rockstar and retailers spends globally on ad campaigns during a major GTA launch such as this one puts down the whole "Watch Dogs overshadowing GTAV". It's a Ubisoft AAA title, probably their next "Assassins Creed" which has a huge mainstream success in both fame and sales. But you can't really compare the amount of audience of GTA with Watch Dogs one. Just think for a second, Sleeping Dogs, Just Cause, Saints Row, none of these sold better than any GTA. If a new fast food restaurant opened would it immediately threaten McDonald's? Of course not. GTA V will most likely not be next gen, there's a small chance of a release on the next gen as well as on current gen, but certainly not this year. I stopped buying them day 1 @ps2 having got Snes and psx day1, games are crap for the first 3-6months, and as you will know being a day one kinda guy... 6months later comes a price drop and hardware change fixing all the niggles that by that point you no longer gloss over with "day one exitment"... and you are left with something worth 1/3'd more and not as well made.... The graphics are impressive however Watch Dogs is only confirmed for the current generation of consoles and PC. The demo at E3 was shown on a High-End PC which is the reason for these impressive graphics. It does not mean that the game will release for next-generations consoles even though Ubisoft thinks about other possible platforms. We will have to wait for an official statement of Ubisoft to find an accurate answer.
