GrassBoy Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Last night I'm going to bed and having GTA V closing thoughts for the day when I recalled the weight lifters in trailer 1. It made me wonder what it would look like if I walked up to the outdoor gym and massacred all the meatheads. Some were lifting weights and I think bench pressing so I wonder how their animations will play out if they're shot while lifting or scared. Euphoria handles animations so I wonder if they drop the weight on themselves or what and it should depend on where they're shot and how much they're lifting. GrassBoy Posted February 12, 2013 Author Share Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) I'm not going to laugh at that, because it does sound messed up. I wasn't sitting there thinking about that. It's just who doesn't rampage in GTA? Start shooting citizens and then take on the cops and up it goes. The reason I said the gym is because it's the only place I could think of that didn't have standard pedestrian animations. Everyone else is walking so you shoot them and they do pretty much the same thing. I guess there are people doing Yoga too. If you shoot them when they're in the lotus do they just flop to the ground with their legs still crossed? You get what I'm saying? It's a matter of how the animations are dynamic to every given situation. I'm just having a hard time imagining what it would do. In the past game before Euphoria, they'd just instantly spring into whatever animation was to result. I shouldn't have said massacred the meatheads, it's too specific and now that I read it, it is messed up. The point I'm trying to discuss is dynamic situations where other entities are present with the character, like weights. So if you shoot that guy, he drops his weight? Guy doing dips, wonder how he would interact with the dip supports. THEN drop down like they just got shot! Also, if its anything like IV (which in this respect I REALLY hope not), they will drop their weights and walk away forgetting what they were doing, just because you walked near them or beeped your horn near them. The peds dropping their sh*t and walking off just because you went near them in IV (and every other GTA for that matter) is probably my biggest (and possibly one of the only) grips i have in GTA! I really couldn't get into IV, I found that the missions were the most boring and repetitive garbage and outside of that I had a hard time finding things to do. The police weren't any fun and things got old fast. I really hope this game plays much more to San Andreas and Vice City. Those games had me hooked for years, heck! I still play SA now and then. But 4... It's a chore to play it and I only felt compelled because of the money I had spent on it. Just my opinion folks, don't need to start a hate storm. Yea... to be fair it doesn't happen every time... but the peds dropping their sh*t and forgetting when they were doing just because you walked near them, beeped near them or even if your tires made a slight noise, does happen every time and it really gets to me if im honest! Even outside of being shot, what about shoving or walking into the guy doing barbell curls. It would be awesome if he fell back and the weight landed on him kind of thing. Ahhh yea I forgot about the poor "sitting death" animation (or lack of)! Basicly then R* just don't properly string together the getting shot/killed animation with what ever the ped was doing. They clearly can do it, because going back to my shooting someone in the car example, more often then not, they do slump on the steering wheel or get blasted into their seat as they should, its only every so often they get out THEN die, so R* can do it. They were just sloppy with making it "work" in IV. With the delay, I think they are making all these wrongs, right.. so GTAV to quote them "we want the game to be as good as it needs to be". IV just didn't have any longevity whatsoever on the scale of SA. The death animations didn't bother me too much.
