Mista J
Well with rumors circulating the web that the Next Gen consoles are out by the end of this year, should I get a Slim? I mean my older fat xbox just went AWOL and decides to work when it wants. I was tempted between a 360S and a PS3 slim. I know this isn't the best place to help me decide Should I expect games to come out next your for current gen? So what do you guys think? Should I pick up a current gen bundle on Ebay? BTW, I don't have online atm, So which should I lean towards?
ccrogers15
It IS worth it. Buy a PS3 slim. While kinda expensive, the 320GB model is a good priced. http://www.amazon.com/PS3-320GB-Uncharted-...n/dp/B0050SXNHO $300 for a console with that game included and the harddrive, plus free online play and bluray built in, and the controller is USB charged unlike 360. I recommend that over any other. But DO NOT get a PS3 Super Slim. https://www.google.com/search?q=ps3+super+s...chrome&ie=UTF-8 I know people personally who have those, and they are defective. My cousins disk drive is already dead, and my sisters console wont turn on. The super slim is a defective POS. So i suggest you hurry and get the original slim model before they are gone! Sony stopped production of the regular slim when they released the super slim! Sony wont admit it, but they are shipping defective consoles and they know it. People are having overheating issues, disk drive failures, etc. Also, they are VERY loud. It sounds like a lawn mower because of that god awful disk drive design the super slim has. And the disk door will take your finger off! Oh and not to mention the super slim is also VERY ugly. It looks like a DVD player from a knock off company. ccrogers15
Sure, but that's not the point. Not trying to start a console war. Its all about what you get in the box. The PS3 comes with the following in box: -Hard Drive -Blu Ray Drive -USB Cable -Wireless controller that has a built in charger -FREE online play The Xbox 360 comes with: -Hard Drive -Wireless controller. (Batteries not included) So... in my opinion the PS3 is a much better deal. For the 360 you dont get a built in battery for the controller. You are required to buy that extra, same as online, its not free. While on ps3, it is. Dont get me wrong, 360 has some good points, but the PS3 is much better in my opinion, especially since i had 4 launch 360 units go RROD on me. And personally, ive had 1 PS3 failure but it was my fault. While it happens, its rare. But on 360, the failures were random and not caused by me. I took good care of those consoles. RROD is common on older models. Even microsoft admitted to shipping defective consoles. Edited February 12, 2013 by ccrogers15
FAH-Q
Get a PS3 slim! Well, that's my recommendation anyway.
OysterBarron
Current gen consoles have hit like a dead end for me. They are just too dated to compete these days. If the next next gen consoles do come out judging by what happened to the ps2 you can exs0ect a barrage of all the games that weren't good enough or upto scratch getting released onto them apart from a few exceptions. Go for the cheapest option you can find play gtav put the money you saved towards a new nextgengen console.
Stinky12
Why not wait for the PS4.
Sneakerhead.
Wireless controller. (Batteries not included) Batteries are included. Well atleast for the Slim.
JOSEPH X
The current gen of consoles will be supported until 2015/16, so if you still have all your games you might as well get yourself a second hand one rather than wait for the next gen. Finn 7 five 11
Wireless controller. (Batteries not included) Batteries are included. Well atleast for the Slim. Non-rechargeables that need to be replaced. And if you want rechargeable you need to buy some plus a recharge pack thing, or buy the separate power pack which are flimsy and tend to be the first thing to break on a controller because they are being swapped in and out all the time. I am not starting an argument, anyway who wants to argue is stupid because these are just respective features we are discussing.

I own it since December and I hadn't found any failures so far. I just had to buy a new hard disk, because I had a model with 12GB flash memory one. They're not loud. And the disk door won't take your finger off, as long as you aren't a total idiot. And, on top of that, it's not ugly. People say that all the time, but the console is actually decently looking. I suppose it's a matter of treating your console right and it won't break down fast.

I bought a super slim after my fat one died. There are no failures, but the disc tray does make loud noises. @ccrogers15 That link doesn't make any sense, you would get the same amount of failures when you'd type ps3 slim issues. ccrogers15
Wireless controller. (Batteries not included) Batteries are included. Well atleast for the Slim. Never had a slim, so i would not know. Guess they are. The 4 xbox 360s i had all went RROD, the zune HD i had broke by simply dropping it ON CARPET, and Windows always crashes on a good PC. I will never get an MS product again.
Firefly8000
^^You say carpet as if it is a lot more cushioned than wood floor. It's a console, it breaks when dropped on any surface that isn't as soft as a pillow. I have no idea what you mean by "Windows always crashes on a good PC". That's definitely not true. have you ever tried Windows on a good PC? It works fine for me. From my experience, I'd go for the Xbox 360S, but make sure you but a Play and Charge kit, as others have said. It shouldn't be much of a problem and you'll still spend less/the same than you would buying a PS3. The price for online is definitely worth it if you use all the apps available and are an avid online gamer. Download/install/load times have always been much faster on Xbox for me and the controllers aren't as fragile from my experience. I have a sense of direction with an Xbox that I don't have with a PS3, which may sound weird but I think a lot of people agree (the UI is a lot more user-friendly). Also don't be put off by the lack of Blu-ray, (unless you're a sucker for higher quality movies or are simply too lazy to be bothered with swapping discs) as in the long run, it isn't that big of a deal. Definitely DO NOT go for an old generation Xbox (are those things even still being made?) as chances are it'll blow up or something when you try to play a modern game. Either way, whichever console you go with is sure to bring you great fun and entertainment (which is the main idea here, right?) but I'd personally recommend the Xbox 360S simply because my experience has been better. For others, it may have been worse, so the decision is up to you. (Also, being strapped for cash might factor in, too.)
