GKP
The human brain is a wonderful thing. We have the ability to project ourselves into situations and experience a close approximation to the actual event. I have wanted a certain car for a long time, I have seen in on the road, seen the interior and from having driven other cars know that it will be very enjoyable to drive. The smells, feeling of the dash, the wheel , the engine. GTAV - is a similar thing. The opening movie will be what we expect, intro to the protag. You will likely start off in Micheal's house , turn on the tv and watch the typical GTA parody of 2012 LA, celeb culture etc. You will step outside, get in a car, notice the physics have been tightened up...and you get a phone call. Start a mission...travel to another part of the map...notice that your in a new area...different buildings...you might see something impressive. The slight nagging feeling in the back of your mind * I was kinda expecting this..oooh theres a bit of lag there....oh well PS4/720 in a few months...Im surprised they managed these graphics on current gen *....the radio..yeah the usual mix...its music ...so what. Adverts..parodies...yawn. You will experience some impressive moments..first time you fly the jet...but then you realise, yes this is a jet ..over flying the countryside...eject ?...ok falling slowly ...aah on to a mountain..middle of nowhere...get running. Animals ?,,,,maybe..but they run off ..maybe you shoot one..you look at its body..yep thats a dead animal. Another phone call - mission..f that...I wanna explore. You explore, maybe for a few hours...trees, mountains, coastline. Like a holiday to a new city..you see what you expect to see, some things you don't but like the pyramids or the empire state or the eiffel tower - its just a place. I am not writing this to put a damper on hype..merely to show that you really do know what to expect. Your mind wont be blown...maybe there will be a few cool missions, or cars ..but ultimately 20 years of gaming has taught me - dont build your hopes up to high. Adriaan
It's a consciousness that lives in your mind! Anyway, nice to see the passion and excitement is still there. I was starting to sense a disturbance in the force. It's to be expected. I remember my reaction when they decided to delay the game. It was similar to this: http://youtu.be/hDwgsZTQSyM?t=7s

GKP
Kifflom - I know ...it WILL be an enjoyable experience. Perhaps its the natural inner cynicism you experience in your late 20s. Expected - I would lol so hard if one of the protags picked up a call from Roman - who IS this and hangs up on him. I hope R* include something a little off the wall.... GKP
The point I was trying to make is. Yes you can project yourself into a time and place - and yes you can approximate what /how you will feel. This is a known technique of many disciplines - athletics, business meetings, any time in which you need to perform. How is this similar ?...well, as odd as it sounds, actually try doing it. Imagine every detail - extrapolate from what you know about the game and perhaps this psyches you up even more ...who knows. For me, it grounds my expectations - I am happy to be pleasantly surprised but I can wait . Here's a very good approximation about how YOU will feel after playing = Similar to how you did after every other GTA. If you played for hours and hours and WERE blown away - you probably will feel similar. If like me, your impressed, but ultimately disappointed by any one of 100 things... thats how September 17th will be.
Arran B
whoa, blew my f*cking mind, dude..no seriously OT, it's hard to picture what GTA V will be like. the soundtrack, the new physics, the new sunny west coast vibe etc.
S1LV3R_W0LF
Unless you can actually use Remote Viewing it's no use. The more you think and expect about it the bigger the disappointment be if it doesn't come like you wanted. Just imagine the game as a GTA with a character with a new skin, in a bigger map that is LC with surrounding area with trees, deserts and beaches, and that you can use helicopters but also planes. Everything more then that will be a bonus.
saintsrow
The OP has an excellent point, and it's good practice for the brain anyway. Seriously, this process is kind of like the process of fan fiction, not a bad idea at all. It lets you take your mind to cool places and play all kinds of roles. Insofar as I got a very expensive brain overclocking and neural memory upgrade last year, I have moved on and I am already playing GTA6 in double HD in my head It kicks ass. And I killed off all the asshole characters I didn't like from the previous GTAs.

Baseball
GTAV ain't gonna be like 'been here, done that'. The graphics, physics, gameplay and features of the game will be far more enjoyable than any GTA you played before. You could play it for days, if you didn't have to sleep, and not get bored. The 3 protagonists system will excite you with all the possibilities, the highly interactive city, the AI and the huge map will make you feel like Los Santos is closer to a real place. I'm sure this is nothing like any game you've played in your 20 years of gaming, so try not to be that negative.
Crumplet
I can just imagine exploring for the first time... You exit your safehouse, greeted by beautiful sunshine, birds flying, and people walking, talking, driving and 'living'. As you stroll down the street, gardeners are at work, neighbors wave a friendly 'hello'!, a lady walking her dog walks past, you bump into her and she says 'oh, sorry!' and as you progress through the neighborhood you come across a 7/11 where college esque kids are hanging out & smoking, drinking sprunk and have mountain bikes parked around them. I truly hope this is similar to what my first experience will be like. *sigh*
saintsrow
Don't think I have enough LSD to participate, sorry. Can you find some? Every time I try to use my imagination about GTAV I derail over to thinking about boobs. And this is right in line with human psychology. We always need something novel to keep our interest. We need novel info about GTAV, and even when we get the game and explore it, eventually familiarity will replace the excitement. But damn, it is exciting at the beginning This is true for both games and girls. So, even if we score a hot girlfriend, eventually we can't help tracking other girls in our field of view and subconsciously thinking of doing them. So yeah, we are in the process of tracking GTAV and waiting to score. For now we can fanatasize. And it will be incredible when we get our hands on it, for weeks or months. We REALLY need new info. Yeah, this is sooooo true. Thanks, Rockstar marketing, for making us feel so pathetic.

RedShotBR
lol I once dreamed that I was playing GTA V with my friends, driving around the city, unleashing havoc and chaos and all BUT when I said to one of them: Hey man, pause the game so we can see how big the map is; I woke up. Could this mean the map will be mindblowing?

GKP
Yeah you have a point baseball - the 3 protag system is hard to imagine. I'm happy to be surprised....I think the best thing about it we haven't experienced before is the teleporting. Yes you could on the PC - but easy access to other parts of the map will be cool.
