My friend thinks theres something wrong with my disc drive but other discs are working just fine, so if anyone knows the solution please tell me, Thanks. Miro
Maybe your friend is right. Make sure that there aren't any scratches on the disc. By the way, is it the original game? If it does have scratches, try wiping the disc carefully with a smooth cloth. Or maybe try to get some toothpaste and a soft cloth, pour a glob on the disk about as big as your thumb's fingernail. Rub in a tiny circular motion. Wash it off and buffer with soft cloth in a small circular motion. If it doesn't work even then, get a new one and please take good care of it. Besides, if it's not the disc, do you have any imaging softwares installed? Like Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, Power ISO and the likes? If yes, uninstall them. Also, close all running applications before trying to install the game; even your anti-virus. If that still doesn't work, copy the contents of the DVD onto your hard drive, right-click on Setup.exe --> Properties --> Compatibility --> Set it to Windows 98 and then try installing again. matthew_kennedy
It is the original game disc at v2.00, and there is few scratches. It was working fine up until yesterday, I had a mod installed (the snow andreas mod pack) and I wanted to get rid of it, and I couldn't find a way to do so, so uninstalled Sa and tried re-intalling it. Then I got this problem.
Miro
Well, the scratches are the problem. As I told you, try wiping the disc carefully with a smooth cloth. And about the mod, to get rid of it, you should be able to uninstall them without uninstalling the game. But what kind of mod was it? A mod that replaces some game files or one with an installer? If it's a replace of some files, you should have made back-up files. In case you didn't, remove the mod files and re-install the game. In case it's using an installer, it should have an uninstaller as well, in which case, use it. After that, remove the gta_sa.set file located in the San Andreas User Files folder as well. Good luck. matthew_kennedy
This was the mod http://games.softpedia.com/get/Mods-Addons...w-Andreas.shtml. It came with an installer but there was no uninstaller for it and it changed the loading screens.
matthew_kennedy
I gave it a rub with a cloth, and it seems to be installing smoothly now. Thanks for the tips you seem to know a lot more on it than I do
Miro
Glad it worked! Now that you re-install the game, make sure to not install all kind of mods that don't gave a reversed procedure. I don't know what files the installer replaced, but in case it didn't uninstall, try to check the Control Panel at Add or Remove Programs and search for "GTA: San Andreas - Mod-Pack RC8 - Snow Andreas 3.8" or "Mod-Pack RC8 - Snow Andreas 3.8" or just "Mod-Pack RC8" or something alike, and if try to remove it from there, in case you find it. If not, best would be just to delete most folders of San Andreas, together with files that were installed by the mod, and then use the San Andreas uninstaller and uninstall the game. I dunno if it works, since I'm not using mods, but I believe that's the correct way to do it, logically. Dead (Retired)

Spider-Vice
Most total conversions can't be uninstalled, they would have to keep a backup of the original game files, which they don't sometimes. I don't install them for a while so I don't know now, but here's a suggestion: Try having two SA directories on your PC, one modded and one unmodded, so if you screw up, you can always get files from the unmodded version.
