There is still a very realistic possibility that the game will release earlier than September.

I don't think so, alone for the reason that the mid of the summer is vacation time, not a good time to release a AAA-title. If we talk about a week or two then that would be a much more realistic case but even that is not very likely. September 17th will be the release date of GTA V for the consoles unless a delay happens.

I was thinking late August to be honest. But you're making a fair point. summertime is indeed vacation time. Oh and btw congratulations on your medal, you really deserve it.

It's a combination of things. First of all a lot of people start work/school again in September after summer break. Second, September is only 2/3 months away from Holiday Season and thus only 2/3 months until the PS4 and probably XBOX720 and WD release. And last September is a very odd month to release such a big AAA title. All those things combined make up for a "bad" month to release. August would be better.

I can see through these points why you might think August might be a feasible month for a release date. But what you have to consider is that they have delayed every single title this console generation except table tennis which wasn't that big of a release anyways. anyways. Also all of the shareholders have been told that the game will come out in September and this will make shareholders plan what to do with their shares in the coming months because TTWO's share prices will increase when GTA V is comes around finally. So you can see why they would be dissapointed if the release date is changed again even though it would be sooner. Also R* have worked out there expected revenue etc for fiscal year 14' so it is very unlikely the game will release in any time earlier than September. Because they expect this amount of sales per month etc. Clearly GTA V sales in August is not in their forecasts. + Rockstar games has never released a game earlier than expected so there's that.

GTA V will take away the thunder of any game regardless of what time the game comes out actually. So I don't think R* have to worry about that. I don't see the difference of the game being sold in August and September. But an earlier release is just impossible because R* have confirmed this. The Zellneck said so in the TTWO conference was pretty convincing by my standards.
