  1. 1. What is happening to GTA V right now?

    • 1) The game simply does not work. It crashes, has thousands of bugs that can not be fixed and is a total disaster?
      104
    • 2) They are chopping content and creating DLC content in order to maximise profits?
      23
    • 3) They realised not including empire building was a massive mistake and are adding it due to popular demand? (lol)
      14
    • 4) They are working hard to prepare GTA V for next gen consoles as a launch title?
      50
    • 5) They realised that for their biggest most ambitious project the gameplay hours wouldnt meet player expectations?
      67
    • 6) They could not fit the content on less than 3 DVDs for Xbox?

It is definitely number 2!

They are making a realistic steak DLC!

But seriously, I just think that they want to improve the game, I believe those guys!

I think it was delayed 4 MONTHS because we will see GTA V on next generation consoles, along with fixing up bug fixes, polishes and such. You really are acting over dramatic about this, I understand your pain and such about the news but I have been waiting since the first official announcement and I'm still in the calm and still hyped state since then. Trust me, nothing major is wrong with the game. Just go find something that interests you and that will keep you busy till september, it will be here before you know it.

Other: they screwed up and now have to work out how they got the swing sets to catapult us across the map.

They are working to the bone to try and make this work and even fling us farther than in IV.

Dan Houser: "we are sorry for the delay but we are working hard on our swing sets and we don't want to release until the swing sets are as good as they can be, we understand many of our fans will be disappointed but rest assured knowing that these swing sets will be the biggest and most ambitious swing sets we have ever created".

From the horses mouth.

Trust me, this game is not coming out on next-gen... architecture is completely different.. meaning no PS3 games / 360 games will work on the new consoles, this is common sense.

Porting a game doesn't take a couple of months, especially to new hardware.

Also, the launch date for V is september.. PS4 is slated for a November release. Most next-gen titles are coming out next year, in the jan/feb time, such as Watchdogs, so why the hell would Rockstar release a game they plan to port to next-gen so early?

I personally think it's a marketing strategy... After so many delays on previous games they would of learnt not to mention a date their not sure about, unless they are retarded... Delaying the game will give then free advertising on news papers world wide as its such a huge game.. It will also inform a lot more people about its existance... Because let's be real.. We all know about gta because we follow gaming websites.. Some people don't, but they would buy the game.. They just don't know it exists... And at the end of the day, rock star knows that all of these kids going on a semi dumb stike claiming their not buying the game anymore because they lost interest are all still going to buy it...

Nameless Foot Soldier

They're busy making V into a god damned work of art just like they did with IV.

You know most game companies spend more money on advertising and marketing than on development, so I seriously doubt they hire people who use reverse-psychology as a marketing plan. It's the exact opposite really.

R* is making the game all that i can be. I believe R* and this talk about next-gen is just ridiculous. Games get delayed sometimes, deal with it.

Stop making up conspiracy theories and other retarded things.

universetwisters

I think it's buggy as hell, and they're trying to find a work-around with the 3 protagonists.

It's starting to get weird that Rockstar keeps saying that they have nothing new to share at the moment and that they are working hard on the game. I believe the last part but why is it not in their interest to offer some real news about GTAV? They obviosuly suffer from a general news drought on the newswire so it kind of looks like a missed opportunity to work in silence when there hardly is anything else going on. It seems fishy.

I know from reading the forums that a lot of people are concerned about the possibility that certain new features don't work the way it should or it doesn't work out well or it even feels rushed compared to the rest of the game, et cetera. There are so many new things in GTA V that haven't been done yet in a Rockstar title yet or in videogames in general and Rockstar probably realized that the game couldn't arrive in Spring because it wouldn't have the quality they are aiming for. They are probably concerned about the same thing as a lot of people and they delayed the game to polish it more to get the best quality as possible.

A spring 2013 release gave them a window of March till late June. So it's really only a three month delay. It's not THAT long a delay sheesh.

They already came out and said its a 4 month delay, so that means they were aiming for a May release.

Doesnt matter what the were aiming for after the fact, they had officially SAID Spring 2013 which technically is late June so if you prepared for the worst it's not even a full three month delay and if you hoped for the best its closer to six.

Well I don't know but if you meant North, then

Rockstar North looking for Games Programmers for Mobile. Click this

And Windows Phone/Microsoft Surface are mentioned as well.

Leeds have been looking for Game Programmer for Mobile quite some time ago as well.

I don't think any of the reasons you have stated above is the reason why the game got delayed. Hence I also don't think these are the things that they are working or trying to fix in the game. Also for number 5 I'm guessing you're referring to the 25 hours thing which was rumored which Adriaan already said was not true. I feel the main reason for the delay is that they felt the game wouldn't be ready to their standards by Spring 2012 so they're not only working on one specific thing but a range of things such as game testing and etc. Unfortunately this has been the case for many of their recent titles but guess what, they have all been masterpieces.

The first quarter of Take-Two's business year ends on June 30th but Spring ends on June 20th. When Rockstar was talking about Spring then they didn't aim for the last possible date and also June is not the best time to release a AAA-title even though Duke Nukem Forever (from 2K Games) was released on June 10th 2011 but that was after a delay from early May. Of course, we are talking about our expectations for the possible release date but still. The last three Rockstar titles were all released in the third week of May and GTA IV was released on April 29th 2008 but then again they were all delayed as well so yeah. tounge.gif

There is still a very realistic possibility that the game will release earlier than September.

There is absolutely no chance that this game will release earlier than September. R* never release games early and tend to do the opposite but we already know that. I'm not expecting it any earlier since it's all announced.

I don't think so, alone for the reason that the mid of the summer is vacation time, not a good time to release a AAA-title. If we talk about a week or two then that would be a much more realistic case but even that is not very likely. September 17th will be the release date of GTA V for the consoles unless a delay happens.
