What are R* working on right now?

Wow. Have not been here for a while as I told myself not to return getting closer to release. Haha.

You could see this comming a mile away. What I would like to know is what could have gone so terribly wrong, that only MONTHS after stating a Spring release could the title be delayed by such a long period of time.

 

Applying common sense to this situation, it is obvious that something has gone terribly wrong. Something that they were not aware of when nominating a Spring release. What on Earth could have been laying dormant and missed by one of the biggest developers of all time? What ever it is, it must be MASSIVE to take a financial hit of such a long delay.

 

All I know is this, if you believe that there is a simple issue present you are probably one of those who believed in the Spring release.

 

A six month delay is not a "polish job" when a prior timeframe had been set. This is a major, MAJOR issue and should concern us all.

 

I can see this now being a rushed project in order to meet financial investors deadline of the specified September date.

 

Being realistic, I think when they tried to put everything together the game would just crash and is totally fuXored.

 

Its completely obvious that their biggest and most ambitious project was to big and to ambitious and is over budget by multimillions. It was obvious when they stated they could not get a simple graphic modification like gaining weight to work in HD. Oh well. I honestly hope they delay as long as necessary to make the game work and work well. To have this happen this late in the development, its unfortunately looking like a bit of butcher work.

Is it relating to Head of R* because of the delay?

Is it relating to the development team who fu(ked up so badly, they had to delay the game? (again)

Is it relating to the financial investors who watched they share prices take a dive?

First of all, the game isn't being delayed by 7 months. I don't know why people keep on assuming that it is. The game wasn't originally going to be released in February now was it? Technically it's only been delayed for about 4 months which is a completely normal time span for delayed games nowadays. Second of all, I think you are being a bit overly dramatic about this whole situation.

 

To me, it would seem as though you have no past experience with other games being delayed. Take for instance Halo 2. Halo 2 was delayed about 2-3 times before a set release date was announced for November of 2004.

 

R* simply delayed GTA: V because they felt as a team, they could make the game perform better for the consumer. They are doing us a favor here. I would rather get a top notch quality game that has taken more development time to make then some rushed out bug/glitch infested game that has taken a short amount of time to make.

 

September will be here before you know it.

I want it to have something to do with next gen, because my eyes are ready for something better than PS3 and 360, but I'm guessing it's probably frame rate issues and some small bugs here and there.

That idea sounds like an entire mobile game franchise in its own right. Maybe combine it with augmented reality, so that you point your phone camera at people, and the chainsaw baby filets them in a cloud of blood spray on your screen, with excellent 5.1 sound effects of screams in your headphones. You only score a confirmed kill when you rush up to the victim during the massacre and get a real world full face shot. You get extra points if the voice recognition in your phone hears you scream "kill, killll, killlllll !!!!" You could do timed rampage score comparisons in real time against players all over the planet. It will become the next Angry Birds.

None of these but the closest is number 1. Remember the game is not delayed six months only four months. Chances are they ran into a few bugs and as a result had to delay it a bit. More than likely the problems will not take an extra four months to fix maybe two more months at most. The reason for the four month delay has to do a lot with timing. Assuming the game was supposed to be out in May a two month delay would put it right at the middle of summer. Generally games sales drop a lot in the summer and from a financial standpoint it would not be the ideal time to release it. From the second week of September and going all the way to Christmas is the biggest time for game sales and as a result a better time to release it. Also if they run into other issues chances are they will be able to fix it and still meet the new launch date.

 

I know most people talk about how Rockstar loves their fanbase but at the end of the day they are a business and want to make as much money as possible. If making as much money as possible means delaying the game an extra couple of months to release in a period where sales are better so be it. Even if the game is ready to go in mid-July they are not going to sit around and do nothing for a couple of months. They will likely be working on the game until the last possible second.

i personally think they bit off more than they could chew making the game so large and now they have to fix a bunch of mistakes and will probably end up scaling it down by nearly 30% because its just Too Damn Big to run on current gen and will PROBABLY be too large to fully function Next Gen as well.

 

what they should have done in 2010 was make a smaller game world (Venturas), packed it with Content and released it May 2012 and then released episodic DLC around Chrismas 2012 and that would have been a financially successful year for them. then after all that, they could have released Max Payne 3 March 2013 just to round out the current gen roster and at the same time, have a different team work on a title to be released for next gen October 2013 like Agent, Bully 2, RDR2, Midnight Club Wherever, etc. i COMPLETELY disagreed with their decision to release Max Payne 3 before GTA5 for the simple fact that Everybody wanted GTA5 once they saw the trailer. how much money did Max Payne 3 bring in last year?????

Sorry, I know R* seem unprofessional at times but I don't believe it's any of the options, so I put 'other'. I believe they just want this game to blow away & embarass the competition. Have they bitten off a tad more than they can chew? Who knows.

 

I just know that they won't spend 5+ years on a game, only to release it full of bugs & glitches. That's Ubisoft's thing.

The same would apply to V, although on a bigger and more intensive scale. Quite simply, they underestimated the needs of these 'last few months', meaning the game wouldn't be ready in time. A few bugs may have popped up. Maybe they sought to iron out or edit some issues in a mission or few. Stuff like that.

No conspiracy theories here. Game wont be ready for Spring cause something fu(ked up. Hope they get on top of it because there is nothing stopping this from happening again in a few months time.

I feel as though it is being butchered as I type this. Scaled down graphics, less interiors, less NPC's, less side missions, and will be run on a lower FPS. Dam shame and honestly hope this is not the case. High probability that tons of content are being removed because the "biggest and most ambitious" was just to much for R* on current gen.

 

Lets hope they only trim the fat.

it could just be that they have finished the game and waiting for nex gen consoles to come out however they could have still done that with an spring 2013 release...
