Exxon
Mafia 2 is a good game but a very short story. You could probably finish it in a day or two if you wanted. A friend of mine completed the game on Hard difficulty in around 10 hours if I recall correctly. Though, it is a good story. Graphics are good on PC, not so much for the consoles. It's a fine game, just a bit short and slightly "uncompleted" talking about gameplay. Though I have to add, it didn't really bother me.
Exkabewbikadid
But what the f*ck where they thinking not including real free roam? (I heard they added it in some DLC, which in all honesty is a total insult, should have been on the standard game or added in a FREE update.) The two DLCs, fatass Joe's Adventures and bald Jimmy's Vendetta, both had a lot of missions set up in "go here to start this mission" GTA-like format. But it's obvious they held back way too much from the core game and used it for the DLCs given how short the main story is.

I don't think the Gamestop would take it back. I have the retail version and it still had to install through steam and got locked to my account. Got a new account now and can't transfer it in any possible way. @tuareg, were you able to install without binding it to Steam?
TOMAHAWKS
No. You can beat Mafia 2 in 3-4 hours.

Jake
U shuld def get far cry 3 This. But Mafia 2 is a lot cheaper. I picked it up used years ago for 5 bucks. It was a great game for cheap. Lots of fun but not much replay value.
Guest
Do NOT get Sleeping Dogs, please for the love of god, don't. It will last you about a day or two. I completed the main storyline in one day, pretty much. There are barely ANY side missions. They have a few cheap tacked on races which are easy as f*ck, some fight clubs, cheap "girlfriend" missions which are just things you do in the game anyway, only except some two dimensional character won't shut the f*ck up in the process. You'd be much better with Just Cause 2, Red Dead Redemption or Fallout 3. Personally I recommend Fallout 3 GOTY, I picked it up for £3 at GAME. I've had it for almost a month now and I've still got alot of stuff to complete. Hell, I've only explored around a quarter of the map, I've only really visited the quest-line places. Adler
Well, if you don't mind playing GTA IV with no side activities, slower cars, a much smaller map, a story that is essentially IV's but dipped in generic mafia movie trappings and ends on a cliffhangar, and various chores scattered throughout the story that add jack sh*t (Cleaning prison toilets for example), then yeah, go for it. The environment is very coherent though. It's pretty spot on with the 1950s. Too bad about the gameplay, though. Too bad about EVERYTHING about Mafia II. The city was litterally the only good thing about it. Just buy the original and ignore the dated graphics. This. If you have not played the first Mafia, now is the time to do it before the graphics gap gets even wider by next-gen games.
Gtaghost22
To be honest, I liked it. I do understand why a lot of people hate it though. It is short (10-11 hours on hard), way too linear for an open world game and there is no "real" free-roam in the vanilla game, they also did cut a lot of content to sell it later as DLC. I would say though, if you can buy the complete edition for no more than £12.99/$20, you should give it a shot. Verdant
The storyline for Mafia II was amazing, with all the twists and turns you could say. Vito Scalleta, the protagonist of the game had a brilliant background story. Vehicles were awesome, interiors for buildings and the realism. I know some people really wanted the storyline to play out like The Godfather with expanding your empire and I do hope to see that in Mafia 3. The only thing I disliked about the Godfather game was the range of vehicles. I think there was about 3-4?

freak2121
If you see the game as a standalone, it's a good game (except for the very end). If you see the game as a continuation of Mafia or Mafia's successor, it's kind of "meh".

Shteeve McClaren
Mafia II is okay if you just want something to do, but it doesn't have sh*t on its predecessor, which is one of the greatest games made. If you're in for a game with a cliché, Hollywood-style storyline (you're average videogame in other words), then go for it. The first one had some excellent writing, especially considering it's a video game. Also the remember the story being a bit off as far as the soundtrack and a few other things go (like rock and roll in 1951, Buddy Holly, Screamin' Jay Hawkins etc.). They didn't do their research very well here and itsort-of things ruin the illusion for me at least. Edited February 15, 2013 by Luigi's
