or watchdogs as well? I was considering getting one of these games. I mean we have to wait for september already so why not.

In my honest opinion, Mafia 2 was an excellent game for me and it is well worth the buy. I'd say get the game.

However, there are a lot of people here who do not like the game, so you'd have to decide for yourself.

I didn't end up liking RDR honestly i think it was because of the way the guns were harder to use. But does this play like gta as far as guns and driving goes? and is there a way to get the game with all the dlc in a special edition or something?

How is watchdogs even an option? Its not even out, we have no info about it, at all.

Mafia 2 was good, nice length and the playboy mags are better to collect than pigeons. (However, the wanted posters are a pain)

Overall, Its a good game, I'd recommend it, a good way to kill time, if you play 30mins per day, you might make it halfway to September.

Mafia 2 was alright... Not good, but alright. I love AceRay's view on the game though!

The story in Mafia 2 was great in my opinion. BUT, if you haven't played the DLC's for GTA IV I'd recommend you play those.

The story of Mafia II is awesome* though I wouldn't play it on anything other than PC, the cut backs to the graphics on the console version were pretty harsh.

*Story was awesome up to the final few chapters, then it just goes kinda crappy and has a bad ending. But up to that point, the story is good.

Well, if you don't mind playing GTA IV with no side activities, slower cars, a much smaller map, a story that is essentially IV's but dipped in generic mafia movie trappings and ends on a cliffhangar, and various chores scattered throughout the story that add jack sh*t (Cleaning prison toilets for example), then yeah, go for it.

The environment is very coherent though. It's pretty spot on with the 1950s. Too bad about the gameplay, though.

If you like to have freedom in games, do not buy it. However if you like a good, fun story that gives you some insight to the Mafia world, then pick it up.

If I had to put a price tag on it I'd say its worth no more than $25. Any higher and I wouldn't reccomend it; $25 is already being a bit generous.

Mafia 2 is a good game but a very short story. You could probably finish it in a day or two if you wanted. You might want to get a less linear game. I suggest Fallout 3.

Mafia 2 was pretty good storywise. But the gameplay was utter crap and the game dont have any form of freeroam at all. While openworld, its also linear.

They also removed the free roam option that mafia 1 had.

Id suggest you skip that game, and get Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas.

Too bad about EVERYTHING about Mafia II. The city was litterally the only good thing about it. Just buy the original and ignore the dated graphics.

Mafia II is excellent. Make sure and get the release with all the DLC. In terms of the mechanics (movement, physics shooting etc) it's totally flawless. It's very cinematic too. It's one of my favourite games of this generation.

Mafia II lacks multiplayer unless your playing it on PC, I'd get Mafia II because it's a long way till sep.

I liked it. Just way too short.

I suppose it's dependent on what you're looking to get from a game, Mafia II's a much, much more story centered game then GTA V and doesn't allow enough freedom when outside of the missions in the game, where as you know Grand Theft Auto's always been about the good 'ol freeroam style of gameplay.

The stories are also incredibly different in what they'll have you doing, for example GTA IV may have you robbing a bank or shooting up a waste depot but Mafia II will have you dealing out cigarettes or shooting up abandoned buildings to intimidate other Mafioso. It's meant to tell a much more personal story by limiting you in these respects and really is meant to give you a feeling of what it's like to be in the Mafia, working your way from the ground up rather than about being a mercenary thug who couldn't care less for his own well being or those around him.

If you're looking for freeroam games that allow you tons of things to do and a crap ton of replay-ability than go buy something like Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Far Cry 3 and Sleeping Dogs. That should satiate you, at least until GTA V comes around. My personal opinion is that Mafia II's a good game but it's not one that contains nearly enough content to last you another seven months, it simply won't happen the game's just too short.

Pretty much this. Mafia II is a great game, but it's not for everyone. I think you'd have to be into 40s/50s Mafiaso tales to really appreciate it. It's not that "universal"?

Yeah, and we he says really into, he means really into. There's no doubt in my mind that if you're a fan of the 40's/50's Italian-Mobster films you'll love the game, if you're not then this simply isn't for you.

I really liked Mafia II, but I can't deny how much better the first one is. So if this kind of story-driven genre appeals to you, I would highly recommend you play through the first game before the second one so you can fully appreciate what a masterpiece the original is instead of playing the second one first and being spoiled by the dramatic improvements in graphics and driving/shooting mechanics.

I liked Mafia II, although i'd have to be crazy to pay the full price for it again.

I sold it after i played it through, because it has almost 0 replay value unfortunately. That's something to take into consideration.

A LIE, you can't sell it. You can't even move it to another account.

How do you guys not realize he means Sleeping Dogs?

If I had to choose between Mafia 2 and Sleeping Dogs, I'd choose Sleeping Dogs, but that's mainl because I already played a lot of games set in the mafia period.

Mafia 2 is great though, I'm replaying it at the moment. It's nothing like GTA though, if you're looking for a game like GTA, reinstall GTA and click New Game.

Mafia 2 is a really good game, only let down is there is no actual free roam, every time you start the game your forced to start from a certain chapter and then listen to an annoying unskippable phone call (although after that is finished you are free to do what you want, when you want..) But what the f*ck where they thinking not including real free roam? (I heard they added it in some DLC, which in all honesty is a total insult, should have been on the standard game or added in a FREE update.)

But yeah, brilliant game, clearly superior to GTA IV (in every way), never understood why so many people here have a problem with it.
