Lil ski
I was thinking about this for a while, the next GTA will most likely be set back in Vice City but here's the thing. Rockstar has said ( and I'm thinking the same thing) that vice city was specifically made for being set in the 80s, it just fit the 80s era. A modern day Miami wouldn't really feel that interesting or different than Los santos or better yet a Liberty City with a beach and swamp. It's so flat and not much to do. That being said it would be a great idea to make a total reboot of vice city and have it based out of Hawaii. There's TONS of great geography here, mountains, jungles, beaches, swamps, lakes, cities, all country towns, you name it! You want culture, you got the nations biggest Asian hub here. Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese, Samoans, Polynesian cultures. Da local bruddahs here who will beat the crap outta some mainlanders who act a fool lol. Pidgeon speak! You want drugs? You got the meth/ ice heads here, and that sh*t is big. You got that "Pakalolo" (weed) and those locals love Bob "Mahley" . You want mini games and activities? You can sky dive, surf, rock climb, dirtbike the mountains, base jump into a volcano!! Hike the mountains and check out the beautiful scenery. You want the military? Oahu gots every branch of service stationed all over the island! Mission wise, as the story progresses you hop to each island (like start off on Maui, like a medium sized town, then in the middle of the game you unlock Oahu and travel there and you got Honolulu (Vice City) and then so on, and the game can end on the Big Island, like a final showdown at the volcanoes there.) I think it would be a lot more interesting place and story wise being set there instead of based in Miami. I mean Honolulu and Miami are pretty much similar ( Waikiki is like a small South Beach) and instead of being predominantly Latin population, it's a prodominantly Asian/Pacific islander. Also the scenery would be a GREAT way to show off next gen graphics and physics (ie breaking waves, dynamic lighting). If you want a better understanding of Hawaii just watch a couple episodes of Hawaii Five O (the new one). It'll show you it's a lot more than just a tourist attraction. Theres a lot you can make outta this game. What you think?
