How did you hear about GTA 5?

This is a f*cking true story ok, I was walking my dog at about 9 AM and I was just randomly thinking about GTA 4 and how I was gonna play it, then I thought "I wonder when Rockstar will say something about GTA 5" then I got home, and NO f*ckING LIE my friend told me "GTA 5 got announced" he sent me a link to the announcement, and I went so hyper-apesh*t crazy, he blocked me on MSN and I was so f*cking excited just spamming "omg" and "yes" that I carried on doing it on Facebook, I even went as far as thanking a stranger who told my friend about GTA 5, but then I remembered how I was thinking about GTA 5 that morning, and how it got announced, and I was really creeped out.

So do you guys have any crazy stories about how you heard about GTA 5? Or just any recollection of where you were/how you found out?

Not really, been coming to the forums pretty frequently and eventually there was an explosion of excitment over the announcment. I remember everyone started dissecting the sh*t out of the dollar esque V

There's a GTAV?

Joking aside, I woke up to see it on the R* Newswire. At first I thought maybe the site got hacked by impatient fans, but quickly found it to be real. Had you told me then that it would be another two years before the release I would have said you were crazy.

Well just a "Few more weeks" to go.

Yeah, I was under the mad illusion that it would be out by June 2012 lol, and we all saw how that turned out.

I agree!

It'd weird the first time when you watch the trailer, you're so excited that you don't even pay full attention to the trailer you're that excited that it doesn't last as long as it actually is.

At least that happens to me, it's weird. confused.gif

Ha, I like the OP's story, very entertaining and put a smile on my face. biggrin.gif

I think I saw an email from Rockstar Propaganda (which only seems to send out emails a few times per year and usually well after the Newswire has announced things). I certainly was totally hyped and couldn't wait for 2 Nov 2011 to come. On 2 November, I was dying all day to get back to the hotel to watch it on my laptop. When I saw it, GTAV Trailer #1 was a religious experience. Then things went downhill from there.... whatsthat.gif

I don't really remember nor care anymore, but I believe my cousin told me about it.

"Cousin, check out the Newswire! Instead of another f*cking Max Payne 3 announcement, they announced GTAV! No sh*t, man!!! Let's go bowling!"

I was checking the forums, I barely went to the V section but I saw something that said "Grand theft Auto V.." Curious, I went to the thread and then thought it was some troll but then I clicked on the link and there it was, the logo in my face.

I think I found out in the General Gaming Discussion section of another forum. Someone made a thread about GTA V being announced, and a while later I ended up waiting for the countdown 'til the trailer. I discussed my excitement/ideas, etc. with those guys. That trailer was quite an interesting experience, because at that point I had absolutely zero idea what to expect, including what the setting of the game was. I was pretty excited to find out that it was San Andreas, which is my favorite setting just because of the variety. Seeing the much-missed countryside also pretty much sold the game for me right there. Then cue the discussion of whether or not the person speaking was the Balcony Guy, who came to be known as Ned Luke and then finally Michael when the GI article came out, and whether or not he was the protagonist (It kinda turned out that everyone was partially right).

I then joined the forums a few weeks later, in order to discuss it. And now here I am with you fine fellows.

My first memory of GTAV is that Rockstar posted a huge GTAV logo on their website, obliterating all other kinds of content on their site, but I actually don't remember where I first heard about the announcement.

I randomly started searching for V out of boredom sometime around August 2011. I made a weekly habit of it and, sure enough, a month or so later, GTA V was officially announced. I just happened to look it up on the morning of October 25th and there it was, posted less than an hour earlier. Soon thereafter, searching for V became a daily, if not hourly habit. That's when I found GTAF and things just spiraled out of control... blush.gif

On the first of November 2011, I started to wonder whether there was going to be a new GTA any time soon. I googled it and to my surprise the first trailer was to release the next day.

I've been following the news about the game ever since.

I sort of wish I had found out about it later, since the wait is turning out to be pretty damn long.

Yah. I remember that, some people had assumed that the Style of the V used was relating to an older font used in money.

In the 1900s I think it was? People had assumed that GTA V would be set in that time.

Oops.

Heard about it via my weekly "GTA 5, GTA V, GTA FIVE, GTA" google searchs, then headed over to gtaforums

No lie. Earlier on the day of the release of the trailer I had some chips with hot sauce and limon and my butt was on fire. Later on I was in the bathroom Doug my buisiness but I was struggling to poop and my friend sent me a link through Facebook and watching the video made me blow up and had to unclog the toilet. No lie.

@JRZ

It's interesting. It's almost like R* sent out a kind of subliminal pulse throughout the world, that got people to think about GTA and the possibility of a new one, just enough to check just a day or two either before the announcement or the trailer, with no prior knowledge.

I never stopped following GTA but it got to a point where it wasn't very frequent. I had stopped going to GTA forums. I ALWAYS however go on GameFaqs and in Non-Stop-Gaming there was a topic about GTA V being officially announced. I freaked out, went on there and waited for the trailer like everyone else. That's when I started coming back on here all the time.

I was on Facebook, and I saw the trailer on Xbox Lives page. I went into an overexcited delirium (is that a thing??). I called my friend over, and told him all about it. However, I didn't know that the next few months would be hard and long.
