Lil ski
So yeah, Anybody on here bodyboard? I'm in the military and I was lucky enough to get stationed down here in Hawaii (surf capital of the world baby!!....well next to SoCal lol) and in the beginning of my 4 years here, I picked up bodyboarding and have been SERIOUSLY addicted to the sport! Man ain't nothing like going to Sandy's down here and catchin some tubes from a gnarly ass shore pounder and bustin out a 360! I got a 42.5" Triad Corner Stone board, double stringer and Jeff Hubbard edition Churchill fins. I used to have some Stealth fins and some Kicks too but they got stolen from my car one night . But f*ck it, I love the Hubb fins anyways! So yeh anyone in here bodyboard? If so, what gear do you have? What breaks you surf and what size waves? P.S. also any stand up surfers here, NO trolling with that surfers vs bodyboarders bullsh*t. I respect you guys too and we both just having fun in the water too, yeah? Finn 7 five 11
I see that the first one is nearing 5 years old and the second one is over 3 years old. I have never body-boarded properly, I like to get a boogie-board sometimes, but it's nothing special. I wish I could surf, that would be interesting. GTA_stu
Not to mention those 2 topics are about bodybuilding, not body boarding. They're completely different. What's the difference between body boarding and surfing anyways? Is body boarding just like an easier version of surfing?
Lil ski
Not to mention those 2 topics are about bodybuilding, not body boarding. They're completely different. What's the difference between body boarding and surfing anyways? Is body boarding just like an easier version of surfing? Almost... Surfing is mainly standing up on a fiberglass board like longboards, shortboards, guns, etc. different boards for different type waves and surfing. For instance, longboards are for just cruising down mellow chill small waves, hardly do any tricks with em except for like walking on them, 'hanging ten, they are easier to learn on. Shortboards are mostly used for big waves and doing tricks and aerial moves, a lot more advanced to use. Bodyboarding is riding the waves on a smaller waist high foam board with a set of swim fins and an arm or wrist leash. Usually you would surf the waves prone (laying on your belly) but sometimes advance riders would Drop Knee surf (kneeling down on the board). In bodyboarding you usually ride shorebreak waves (waves breaking directly on the shoreline) and you are more likely to ride inside the barrel of the waves and also perform a lot of moves (Barrel rolls or "Rollos", 360 spins, aerial backflips and sh*t) bodyboarding is easier to pick up and alotta tourists and beginners usually ride the calm white wash (already broken wave) fins or no fins and they go straight. But any real bodyboarder or someone who is a little more serious with the sport knows how to ride the wave either left or right. If you take a shore pounder straight, you gonna get your ass KILLED...and get treated like a kook lol. Bodyboarders are also called "Spongers" because of the foam boards we use. Wayne Daniels
I love body boarding. Only recently have I started going to the beach semi often. I don't go out very far though, and I don't go in the wave tubes like the pic.

Ridin in a tube and hearing the hollow waves echo like a cave is like the best feeling in the world! Sure it may close out and sometimes get pounded by the lip but as long as your surfing on a sandy bottom you'll be aight. bounce right back up like a gym mat Oh yeah and I don't really go out far either. I just take the shoreys that break about 5 to 10 meters from or directly on the sand. Only place I ever surf out from the shore is a break in Waikiki called "Walls" but it's a shallow rock/reef break that's shallow from 300m! But it's mostly a weak spot for tourists, beginners, and teenage wannabes showing off to the tourists. But when the huge summer south swells come in, that's when the big boyz and pros come out! I'm in Perth, Western Australia. I would really want too, but here you have to go out pretty far to get them, and we have a serious shark problem here at the moment Not long ago about 15 sharks were hanging around not even 100 meters from the shores. I did however go snorkling on the weekend. I saw an octopus
geomy
Almost... Seems you enjoy bodyboarding like I enjoy disc golf. Keep in mind this is a video game forum full of pasty face gamers that never see the sun, and only go outside to return their rented copy of the latest Final Fantasy then grab some Hot Pockets and Mountain Dew ('Cause they're extreme like that). Anyway, boogieboarding (that's what I've always called it) stemmed from body surfing and eventually led to surfing for me. Whatever your preference, riding a wave is thrilling and puts our insignificance on this planet into perspective - the idea that this energy has traveled thousands of miles across oceans to arrive on my beach and crash into this powerful instant known as a wave... whoa man, I totally spaced out there for a sec.
