    • Yes, that would be great. It's something different and could be cool.

Possible mission scenario:

The people looking for Michael (assuming that people are looking for him as he's in the witness protection program) find him and kidnap him. They don't kill him as they want to get info of some kind out of him 1st.

As Trevor and Franklin you have to find him and rescue him. Here's the catch, you aren't told where he is. All you get is, "Michael has been kidnapped and is being held somewhere in Los Santos. Find him."

In order to find him you can try and look for clues, find his cellphone to see if there's anything useful, look for a note he may have dropped, speak to his wife to find out more about his past. You connect the dots until eventually you find out where he is being held and go rescue him.

If you don't want to do all of that you could just drive around the map checking every apartment block/abandoned building/vinewood home until eventually you get lucky and find him.

If you're REALLY stumped you just check online for a walkthrough.

There would be a series of possible locations allowing for the mission to still be interesting if you replay the game.

Would you like a mission like this?

----------------------

TL;DR VERSION

Would you like a mission where you have to find a kidnapped character, but you are given no information about their location? You have to use clues/get lucky while searching in order to find them.

Lelouch The Zero

Would be great for the last mission of the game before the final heist or something.

First I was like "No, this isn't L.A Noire. F*ck off." then I read your post. icon14.gif

We had something similar in GTA:SA of course, but much more automated than your proposition. So it would be new indeed.

Haha glad I persuaded you.

Which mission was that again? Haven't played it in a while confused.gif

It would be fun but I would hope they would atleast tell you the locations of the people of interest and some of his known wherabouts but connecting the dots would be up to you. It would be very fun! good idea OP icon14.gif

Sounds pretty good, I'd like to see something like this in the game. Although, I'd probably never find him, and just look online for a walkthrough.

That one mission where you were in the car with T-Bone Mendez (?) and someone else... you were looking for Toreno I think? Following his descriptions on his cell phone that ran out of power? Driving near the marina, then the airport? It's been a while indeed wink.gif

I don't see too big a problem with not being able to find them/him/her. That mission could just be timer based (I f*cking HATE timers in games but hear me out in this instance). If you haven't found him after 6h, you get a message from someone with a hint. After 12 hours you overhear some chatter from random peds. After 24 hours...

Turns out that mission was actually named Mike Toreno. Btw, what's Michael's last name again? I think he was known as "U.L. Paper" in the last game........... ph34r.gif

Sounds cool, but R* would probably never do something like this, because they like to have more control than what you're talking about. I wish they wouldn't hold our hands so much and give us more freedom to figure out stuff for ourselves sometimes.

I'm not sure that's true anymore. We're supposed to be able to access all "islands" from the start this time. They said we'd be able to use planes and have access to (at least practically) all guns right from the start. We can switch characters whenever we see fit, we're not bound directly to follow some sort of gameplay tunnel.

So who knows...

Well that's true about the map, but I think that has more to do with the multiple protagonists than anything else, but I hope you're right. I'm just so use to emptying clip after clip into a guy I'm following just to realize R* wants me to get to a certain area before he can actually die. Or cars/trucks crashing and blocking the road the same way every time I play a mission.

The type of mission the OP describes sounds very open. It's hard to imagine R* just letting us figure stuff out on our own. I hope they do though.

I hope that their "bold new direction" means that we can play our own way and not have our hands held by Daddy Houser.

Good idea, although im not sure R* would do something like this because once you have played through the story once it will just be another routine mission if you get what im sayin?

That's why I said that there should be several locations, randomly chosen by the game. The 1st time u play it may be at the construction site, second time in a hotel, third time in a random alley, etc.

Something like this would be cool, but I wouldn't want it t be Michael who we have to find, but someone or something else.

Doesn't sound bad to me. Wouldn't mind a mission or 2 like that. I actually thought of a mission where Michael's son gets kidnapped and the the 3 protagonists find him and kill the kidnappers.

How about this: The game doesn't directly guide you to where clues are but there's big purple spots in the map like in RDR?

Would be something new and in my op it's a good idea.

But I can't imagine one of the protags being kidnapped. Maybe Michaels kids and we have to find them in a set of missions.

I would like to see a mission like that. I do want a searching mission, it would be a good mission, especially with a stormy weather, maybe in the woods, I think it would be a good environment for a mission like that.

That would be awesome idea and It may be related to the final missions somehow as suggested in this topic before. And I actually like L.A Noire, but I dont want too much of it to the GTA, but few missions would be very nice and it would at some varitation.

Great Idea. I was thinking the other day that GTA V needs new missions because if had the same old types all the time it would get boring but this is something I really like icon14.gif

Only if I can let Franklin look for clues himself while I sit around and drink beer as Trevor.

Attitude? Check.

Avatar? Check.

Awesomeness? Check.

I'd love something like this OP, and i think you're spot on.

I've always wanted a game where I don't get my hand held throughout the entire thing teling me exactly where to go and what to do. Just give me the overall objective and let me have at it in my own way.. If people are too stupid to figure it out they can always read a guide or something.

Older games used to do things like this, but now they just want you to watch a movie, pressing the odd button along the way to make you feel like you accomplished something.. It doesn't work though, it just disconnects you from the whole experience.

I'd love to have a few subtle cues and then work out my own avenues of investigation.. I'd love if the heist preparation missions were like this, casing the place and figuring out of my own accord what i will need to do. but i know they won't be they will be simplified follow the marker and watch corresponding cut scene missions.

Such a shame.
