[WIP|EFLC] GTA: Vice City 2

Recommended Posts

It looks like a parody to vice city, seriously.

Do people not understand it's not meant to be the 80s Vice City?

Well, not trying to offend, but that's stupid, I'm pretty sure 90% of the fans want the classic VC,

Ik there is GTA VCR but VC2 is doing it better..

Not that. I think its nice to see it in the present. However, you need to make the changes realistic. Buildings that were there in the 80's should look the same, but maybe slightly more aged (small texture tweaks). That also means no adding islands or chunks of land. Not trying to be bossy here. Just saying what will make the mod be set in Rockstar's universe, and not your modified universe. Several mods on here are failing at being in Rockstar's universe though they are trying to be in it but are not. Two examples that are getting carried away with changes include:

-GTA SOL

-GTA LCS PC Edition

Not saying they are bad mods, I'm saying they are supposedly in Rockstar's Universe but aren't. SOL is now going to have two versions, one with changes and one with out.

But wasen't the ideal plan of this (Vice City 2) to basically be like what Rockstar did to all the III era cities to the HD universe?

Basically, re-make the entire map, new models, etc, in the same place as Vice City originally was, then when all that's done, completely change the city, change the layout, the island and stuff to a completely new one, like they did Liberty City from GTA3 to IV.

Oh no, not that type of post.

What a constructive post.

EDIT: You know GTA IV's Liberty was meant to be more like NY, right?

What Rockstar did to new LC is succeed in making it work in present times, and with all of IV's features, map felt a lot bigger than it really was, at least to me.

If there's one thing Rockstar can do right, it's to make places and stories seem believable, all of this works to immerse us, players, into a living breathing world.

Yea, IV's LC is an amazing city. It felt alive. Before that, cities in games were missing something that made them feel city like, with a lot of activity going on. GTA IV definitely raised the bar as to how to make a city feel.

As for you guys making a new VC in the IV era, don't. Eventually Rockstar is going to do that already. I think the next GTA is going to be Vice City in the IV era for next gen consoles. You guys should just do the III era VC in modern times.

The bad thing that there won't be new cars  confused.gif

There will be, the team is just focussed on the map right now

Nk, This is VC in modern time. VC does have Miami written all over it, but geographically it's way off.

If GTA Next would be Vice city again, it will be a good representation of the actual city. Just compare SA LS and V LS.

That's more or less what they are doing.

When the mod will be pusblished?

This seems interesting...I would be surprised (and amazed) if this team were able to make a re-imagined Vice City that was HD, has fully-functional traffic and A.I, had a whole different layout, a story with new missions, and didn't turn out to be a "pseudo-city"--like, when a map mod simply takes existing elements from the game's original map (be it buildings, roads etc.) and just re-arranges them, without replacing the models, or even their textures. confused.gif Basically, that's the reason why "city mods" fail--nobody wants to see a "city" with the same buildings they've seen a BILLION times with roads that appear to be laid out in a grid-like style, but it's creator says "Well, here's Whatever City, it's my own new city". Making mods this big takes years; don't be surprised or amazed if a city mod has just been made within 10 minutes...

But, this mod looks promising, like the detail so far, and good luck to you guys with your progress...let's hope this doesn't die like the VCHD one did. wink.gificon14.gif

Cool, looking forward to seeing a revamped Ocean Drive.

Tranquil_Suit
@Blaster_nl: Are you still working on an HD Ocean Drive? I remember you said you were even gonna replace the duplicate models with new original ones. I quite enjoyed those screens you posted back then.

Oh, yes! Still working on it from time to time. Ocean Drive is getting an overhaul, duplicate buildings are removed and replaced by new ones.

Soon I will update my album on VK with new buildings out of 3ds max. Ingame screenshots will come later when most of the buildings are done and the props in place.

What I'd like to see is the map be expanded on. I want something new to the map not seen in the original. New locations at the very least. The following map I found always peaked my interest: http://samgreenart.deviantart.com/art/Revi...y-Map-154315509. I'd at the very least like to see something similar. Maybe some type of everglades area up north and a new island in the middle. I'm not saying to make that exact map, but I at least want to see new areas that weren't featured in the original Vice City. I'd also like to see an Internet Cafe, a bar, and lots of stuff that was featured in GTA IV.

aint gonna happen... those songs are held under copyright... which would be illegal...

I am already working on non copyrighted alternatives
