unc13bud
I run the game at 1440x900 , reflections on very high, and texture at high that's your problem. you have weak dual core CPU. video card with lowest acceptable shader performance and trying to play at a high resolution
jpm1
I run the game at 1440x900 , reflections on very high, and texture at high that's your problem. you have weak dual core CPU. video card with lowest acceptable shader performance and trying to play at a high resolution i agree with you but GTA has to be played with high reflections and high res textures to enjoy it really . so i understand CJ430 @ CJ430 : you computer is meduim-low for GTA so unfortunatly unc13bud is right , or you upgrade your rig or you lower the settings
unc13bud
with athlon 64 x2 3800+ and 8600 gt/9500 gt/ 9800 gt, everything was low and shadows off @ 1024x768. this was without memrestrict commandline though...
Exxon
With a dual core 1.8 Ghz and a GT9500 you should be more than happy having around 20 fps with some settings high. One does not simply reach more than 10 fps with that. Just lower the settings, that's the only solution.
CJ430
Ok so i think overclock doesn t help here... But i got some money, i seen a core 2 quad q6600 2.4 ghz, and a core 2 duo e8500, 2.5 ghz... Wich one of these really are the best choice in matter of what youll get? I mean cost/performance? Sorry for my bad english. Im romanian. I hope you understand this
Prometheus
Well it clearly depends on the prices, and more importantly your motherboard. You can use speccy and post a snapshot.
CJ430
my mobo supports these processors... And as i say , if the quad is better than c2d, doesnt matter if its more expensive, but it needs to worth it, you know? Its a small or a huge difference between those? luceberg
The Q6600 quad is definitely better than an e8500 core 2 duo for playing GTA 4.
CJ430
Not only for gta 4, right?
LoreLegend
Are you f*cking serious man? If you wanna play GTA IV on high settings you would need to spend more then 1000 bucks
jpm1
i think that with an aging cpu like the q6600 (which is a very good processor) you won't be able to play in more than medium or medium high settings . gta is very cpu demanding so check the hardware sites reviews and see which one is best .. luceberg
Not only for gta 4, right? Not only for GTA 4, but it won't hurt for other games and applications.
CJ430
Ok guys, thanks a lot for ya help... Ill try to find a q6600. Thanks again!
unc13bud
in some games, a fast dual core will beat a q6600. and newer 3 ghz processors like phenom/i7 beat older intel socket 775 3 ghz quad cores. you should make a list of the games you like then compare the performance. i remember being mad for a long time until GTA IV came out, because all the hardware sites were saying (and i was noticing in single core only games also), that fast dual cores was all that was needed for gaming http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010...do-games-need/1 http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010...arcraft-2-use/1 http://www.anandtech.com/print/5174/why-iv...still-quad-core http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/game-p...eck,2738-2.html http://www.techspot.com/review/403-dirt-3-...ance/page7.html
