Thetylermader
I am a HUGE GTA lover,i have been playing this game for a loooong time, and i decided to get the PC version to mod it! Where did i buy it? I bought it off Steam. So i decided to downgrade it to Version 1 (you need V.1 to mod it) I do not know exactly what the problem is but it just keeps on crashing constantly like 10 mins later. I am pretty sure it is because of the downgrade. So i just need two things: 1.The solution to the problem OR some information of the problem which will help me solve the problem. 2.That someone tells me how to REinstall it from Steam. I am actually pissed that i can't mod it and that i have been searching for this game for PC for a long time....but it's okay. I just want to play the game on PC. It's just awesome. If someone know's a solution, just PLEASE tell me,it would be very nice.!
lil weasel
The Download Game (v3) is not modable, except for minor scripts. You need to buy the DVD (v2) and downgrade it for modding. Downgrading does not actually make the game a V1. It does remove the programming that prevents modding. Downgrading won't work on the Download V3 game. Clear everything out. Redownload (No Refunds) or just buy the DVD. If you have Vista you will also need to delete the Hidden Files, "Virtual Store San Andreas". And, Delete the gta_sa.set file in your documents. Thetylermader
Wait...are you saying that redownloading COSTS MONEY???? NO WAY! Please, can you tell me where to find the gta_sa.set file? P.S: I am running on windows 7,will it still work???
lil weasel
No. I'm saying that when you buy a Download Game you cannot get Refunds when it doesn't work. Since you don't 'own' anything (like a disc) a download game has no value to anyone but the end user. So you must work with the Vendor to get working. Normally the gta_sa.set file is in the START < username < GTA San Andreas file. (the same file that holds the Gallery, and Saved Games.) Spider-Vice
Downgrading won't work with V3 as far as I can remember, so you'll be stuck to basic mods I think. So your best bet is reinstalling the game through Steam.
