Dead Eye/Bullet Time

I've been thinking about this a lot actually. Would you like something similar to Dead Eye or Bullet Time in GTA V? I think this would be perfect for Trevor since he's a drug addict. Maybe call it Crank Rage? tounge.gif

I'm not sure if it would make much sense for Michael and Franklin, but for Trevor? Definitely. Maybe it could be one of his special attributes. smile.gif

Yes definitely. I personally feel like it should be some kind of adrenaline system. Like you build a meter for doing crazy sh*t ie: robbing someone in broad daylight, beating a train at an intersection etc.

You forgot the DRUG/PILL icons in Vice City! Forget deadeye and bullet time for a GTA game.

You mean Adrenaline

This is something I'm hoping for. It does make perfect sense for Trevor. To balance things out, maybe it can be something you can only carry a certain amount of, and the other two protags can have their own special abilities.

It wouldn't feel right in a Grand Theft Auto game for me. I might be basing this off of my experience with the past Grand Theft Auto's, but then again this is a bold new direction.

Brains get too easy to be shot in slow motion... IMO that would suck.

Max Payne 3 was pretty challenging. Vanquish was f*cking challenging. RDR was pretty easy, but even it had it's moments. When any type of slow motion is introduced, the gameplay is usually adjusted so the game isn't too easy. Either there are more enemies, more lethal enemies, and/or enemies that are harder to kill.

I mainly like it for the look. It's one of the main things that makes MP3's gameplay so satisfying. I would love that same action movie feel to make it's way to GTA V. It would fit perfectly IMO.

I'd like it if was limited like you suggest. In RDR, dead eye made you a little too powerful. Having to use drugs in your inventory to slow down time would kind of combine the dead eye/bullet time concept with the adrenaline pills from III/VC and the inventory system from RDR, which could be pretty fun. I would be a tad disappointed if said drug use was limited to Trevor though.

I disgaree.

I don't want this feature to be available to all 3, it just wouldn't make any sense. Trevor is a drug addict and a f*cking maniac, Franklin and Michael are not. I would really like to see it being limited to one protag as to not force us to use it all the time.

Yeah, I kinda agree.

Maybe it could be like GTA IV when you call friends for stuff. Maybe when you're playing as Franklin or Michael, you could call Trevor to buy some from him. They would pay, but Trevor just gets them from his safehouse or something.

I've thought about this too. I would love it. I thought it worked great in RDR and hoped even then, that they would somehow put it in GTA. So I think it's a great idea! icon14.gif

I think the difference could be like it is in real life. Drug addicts are always using drugs, but you don't need to be a drug addict to use them occasionally. Some drugs offer benefits that the others might want sometimes.

I don't see why they would be forced to use it though. Maybe Trevor, because it's possible he'll get sick if he doesn't use from time to time.

I'd really like to see something like this with hand-to-hand combat application, rather than just being something that helps you aim. Like the adrenaline pills in the III era, how they slowed down time for everyone but you (super speed) and made you hit twice as hard and send pedestrians flying. It was one of my favourite things about GTA and I was disappointed they cut it out, it's one of the things that keeps me going back to the III era games, I think it should return but obviously be upgraded and tweaked for the new era.

I wouldnt want Dead Eye. Really didnt like it in RDR, only used it was because the lock-on system was terrible in RDR. GTA's should be decent enough, HOPEFULLY, that when you're in the middle of a shootout, it'll be smart enough to not target birds or rabbits.

Maybe it's part of those unique abilities that was mentioned in the previews (I think).

Like Trevor has that "Crank Rage" ability to use drugs and go in Max Payne Bullet Time mode and you can go in fast and then slow motion like the movie "300" style while you bash a gang of niggas faces in! (too damn awesome cool.gif )

I think Franklin could use a slow motion mode during his driving (being that he's the excellent wheelman of the group) and can slow down time in order to make his precise turns through obstacles in high speed chases. And also him being the designated marksman too, he could hold his breath longer and slow things down when he's aiming through the scope ( in marksmanship, breathing is EVERYTHING)

As for Michael....mmmm still don't know much about his unique skills to come up with a good ability like the others. Someone can help me out here smile.gif

This. Michael and Franklin can still use speed, even if they're not addicts. I've tried my share of coke, but never have I ever been a cokehead. There's a huge difference.

Also, I like your suggestion of Trevor having to use drugs to avoid withdrawals since he is an addict. This would create a gameplay difference between Trevor and the others without limiting Michael and Franklin's ability to possess and use drugs should the player wish it. icon14.gif

Bullet Time could work if the AI is like MP3.

I would almost be scared to see what MP3 level police AI would be like with a six star wanted level. It's what I'm hoping for though.

I'll talk about Bullet time because I never had the chance to play Red Dead Redemption unless they're the same thing with a different name. I have to say no to this feature because I just don't feel this is something that would suit GTA V or the Grand Theft Auto franchise in general. Max Payne 3 was more like a cinematic action movie (You couldn't even skip the cutscenes) and features like Bullet time suited the game + Bullet time and Shootdodge is what makes the game unique in the first place. So I just can't see R* indroduce this feature even if Trevor has as Miami calls it crank rage. Although I know he was joking, I don't think Trevor should have a special ability that is so much more different than the special abilities of Franklin and Michael since Trevors special abilies will be affecting the actual gameplay where chances are Franklins special ability will be able to obtain special cars and Michael's ability will have to do something with witness protection. As we can see through both these examples their special ablities won't affect the gameplay but it will give the player perks. Trevor's special ability should also give perks to the players instead of gameplay advantages.

In a Grand Theft Auto game ehh.... I'd rather not have it to be honest. It works in Max Payne and Red Dead because the games story are built around those features. In GTA it would just feel like a tacted on feature from their two other successful genres. I don't think slow motion has any place inside GTA besides jumping off ramps.
