scottishmanGTA
i know alot of people love the music in gta particularly the radio songs. wouldn't it be cool if you could have earphones for your ifruit to listen to music whilst cycling or simply just walking about the city. it would also add to role playing as i would get up in the early hours and go a run on the beach
T0X1C
It's possible to play songs from your Ps3 in Fifa13, so how hard would it be to implement the same thing, only in the form of an iPod, in GTA 5?

So if you play Nicki Minaj/One Direction/etc a biker will chase you down and shiv you. Now that would be a good addition.

The Pizza Delivery Guy
For the sake of walking around the city with your saved tunes on foot, I'd say yes. It would have to be made by a satirical combany based off of Apple for me to fully accept it, like "Government Grapefruit: We take your JOBS so you can have technology." latigreblue
I was thinking about this same question in another thread. I would like it and thought that it was only logical but R* works so hard on creating the ambient noise and pedestrian conversations that perhaps they might not want us to. BasedJACK
There will be musical scores playing when you are walking down the streets and stuff, confirmed in GI. Not the same as an iPod but I guess it is better than running around in silence.

Yeah, we'll still get radio stations for vehicles, but I think the score might ruin our chances of carrying around music. It doesn't matter to me, because I sometimes play music, podcasts, or O & A when I'm playing some GTA IV or RDR free roam.

I have to wonder if there will be dynamic music in game for when you attract the attention of cops. DRIV3R had it, but it was choppy, I think it would make it interesting. Dick Valor
I'd like it if you could use in-game money to pay to download songs from V's radio soundtrack onto your iFruit... kinda like ringtones and themes in IV. Of course, using the playlists on my PS3 works just as well, it just wouldn't feel as immersive.

Most licensed songs in GTA soundtracks have a DJ speaking over part of the song, which I think qualifies it for a cheaper kind of license than if the song appears in full. matajuegos
I'm pretty sure they'll add some kind of MP3, you know, because the in-game phone will be a type of smartphone
huevos_benedicto_180
If I remember correctly you were supposed to be able to listen to music on your phone in GTA IV, but for whatever reason they scrapped it. Now that iPods and phones are now the same thing, I think it's very plausible that we'd be able to.

Now that iPods and phones are now the same thing, I think it's very plausible that we'd be able to. It was scrapped because if people just listen to their music on foot then they don't listen and pay attention to the ambient noises of the world around them that Rockstar go to an almost unbelievable amount of effort to create in the game. The detail is incredible if you actually pay attention to it. I doubt things will change with GTAV. There's too many subtle gameplay elements which are wrapped up in the ambient noise of the world around the player. People would just miss them. Its better just keeping the music to the vehicles. baguvix_wanrltw
Blah. Who was it, Dan? Who said that we'll be able to use our modern smartphones in the game the way we use modern smartphones in the real world. Aka: surfing the (ingame) Internet, listening to music etc. You'll get your wish, even though you're banned now. The background noise argument is void after the first playthrough, or actually even earlier if you go to the same places again and again (outside of missions of course). Dale Nixon
MGS4 had it but it didn't allow you to play music directly from your harddrive.
mobe
The background noise argument is void after the first playthrough And what happens if you have a Red Dead Redemption style random encounter with a ped and they start talking to you giving you a mission? You won't be able to hear what they're saying. Also, my understanding of it is the distinction between game and cut scene is much more blurred than it was in GTAIV and RDR. And distinction between the random encounter type missions and main storyline missions is far more blurred than it was in RDR too. I don't know how having an ipod playing music would fit into it. The bottom line is I'm pretty sure Rockstar would much rather you appreciate their lovingly crafted ambience than have you listen to music all the time, in vehicle and out. I'm not saying they definitely won't have the feature but I can see various arguments against it being totally valid.

I assume the same would apply here. I don't know about you guys, but I can hear the outside world just fine when using earphones. Headphones block out noise. baguvix_wanrltw
What he said. There's no problem turning down the volume of the external music when internal one plays (scene specific dramatic music etc.) or when dialog happens. We had a rather lengthy thread about the feasibility of Independence FM on consoles (actually there were tons of threads about this but one main one) where we discussed all of that rather thoroughly and found that it was indeed possible, at least on 360, nobody was able to confirm it on PS3 but I assume it's similar. To clarify, of course there is (in theory) a difference between smartphone music while walking and radio in cars; but technically it's all the same. If in doubt search for the aforementioned threads. Deffpony
I think it would be awesome to have an mp3 player in while free roaming. There should be a volume adjustment so that you can turn it up so loud that you dont hear any of the sfx lol
