GTA3 - Combat too fast

Is there any way to slow down combat in GTA3? It's way too fast on my PC; I get killed before I can even aim at guys. I don't expect May Payne type slowdowns, just something to make combat more manageable.

 

Either that, or is there a cheat that gives infinite health? I don't care about the challenge of shooting; I just want to progress through the story.

As far as I know there is no option to adjust combat speed however across the city you can find adrenaline pills which slows down gameplay allowing you to act faster and kill enemies. In terms of cheats you can restore health to 100 but not have infinite amounts. Another known PC issue is if the FPS is too high it can lead to gameplay disturbances so try going to Display settings and have a play around to see if that improves it

Enable Vsync in display options.

 

If it is still too fast you can also enable the frame limiter, but that will slow down your game to 30 frames per second (which might be a bit slow depending on what framerate you are used to).
