RedShotBR
So guys, how do you think the airplane physics will work in GTA V, especially the damage system? Will it be similar to GTA SA, or something more "realistic" (the largest planes could easily stop on a small airstrip in SA)? If you got hit in the engine, will it keep working or it will be torn to shreds? If a missile hit a large plane, will it be destroyed in two pieces? Josh410
Nice topic, I'm sure it will be very sensitive like SA
greenrock
Trevor should naturally be a better pilot then Mike and Frankie.... maybe Mike and Frankie there planes are kind of shaking a little bit when you fly as them, physics wise
SammyXNA
It's gonna be quite different from SA I suppose. I just hope that the mechanics are enjoyable and here's to hoping that you can fly into blimps and watch them deflate
BlackNoise
Landing planes is one of the few things I want to be like SA. I like some of the added realism in different areas, but I don't want the planes to be too difficult to land. I do think better damage physics would be cool and I hope the jets can use thrust vectoring for better maneuverability.
Deffpony
Here is a great thread that covers most, if not all of this topic: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=393536&hl=

Rauland
I'll like to add, saying the plane damage is going to be the same as in SA is like saying the car damage will be pre-rendered like in SA. In IV we got tails snapping off helicopters, I'd expect the same from wings in V. With that, I'd say the physics might be more realistic but they're probably going to go for easier manoeuvrability, so any novice can pick up the controls and fly the plane for the first time with relative ease. I don't really expect any engine damage by using the plane wrong, because that might lead to frustration when the player doesn't know why the plane refuses to gain enough speed to take off or doesn't move. thebestgameever
I would LOVE it if the rudders were still controllable ( why i hated flying in just cause 2, sure it had a lot of vehicles, planes, helis but the controls sucked) so the flying physics like SA i would not mind. I like how SR3 gave you the option. For crashing I would REALLY hope that planes do not auto explode when there is contact ( unless you maybe nose dive into the ground or fly straight into a mountain/ building), if your wing hits the ground or a tree it should simply rip off, something JC2 did right when taking off ( but it had auto explode which was annoying ocne you were flying though), i wanna be able to crash land and going into water should not make the plane explode too. ALSO PLEASE let us control the landing gear. Heli should be the same as IV but allow for better manoeuvres, go upside down etc... Just don't make the camera control the movement of the heli, why i hated the helis in JC2.
JStarr31
I'm pretty sure this clears up that the airplane damage will be "realistic" From that screenshot alone it seems that the engine can be damaged "separately" from the chassis/body is the plane.... Truthfully, I'd expect nothing less than feature from SA (controllable rudders and landing gear, at the least) As for specifics, that remains to be seen... I'M JUST HOPING FOR EJECTION SEATS Edited February 8, 2013 by JStarr31
