chop chop
Now I have a serious question. Is it possible to speed up the time frame to make quality games, because Ubisoft is on a tear right now. Releasing quality games one after another with short production periods. Is it possible for R* to do the same? I feel like Ubisoft is they're strongest competitor right now. They said they started on Watch Dogs in 2010 and it's coming out this year. I want real thoughts and opinions please.
GTAfan786
Well it's being made on a brand new IP which makes it a bit easier of course. Rockstar are still on the same IP which takes longer for them, plus they wouldn't do short periods, it's just a guarantee that it will be a rush job. Personally, if you watch the Watch Dogs gameplay on youtube from E3, watch the ending where they start driving, the physics for the driving is absoloutely trash. They just announced another assassin creed coming next year, its like they must have 50 thousand people working on 10 games. It's just hit after hit like damn and when you play the games they dont feel rushed at all I'm confused lol.
GTAfan786
Their AC series is going to trash now. Have you seen AC3 and it's bugs and glitches in the game?? They've pretty much rushed it, plus the story wasn't all that either. Ubisoft are a good company, but their heading to the wrong direction. CookPassBabtridge
GTAs will always be larger in scale than most games, but yes I think R* should aim to shave off at least a year from these development times. Especially going into next gen, god knows what that will get like.

Adriaan
Perhaps it's best to wait and play the actual game of GTAV and see if everything's true about its scope and scale to understand why it's taking this long - even though it hasn't been in full development for 5 years (there was Agent etc.). This. Not to mention that when and if GTA VI comes, it will be at the most at the half way point on the next gen life cycle. I would imagine the next gen having a 10 year life span. Given the technology advancements within 5 years, I could see a shorter development time Harnessing the power of PS4/720.
The-Edgar
nAAHH I wouldn't say that. Far Cry 3 was so buggy when it was released. Also the Multiplayer was down for many weeks... patches and patches came, but nothing really went on. Ubisoft really dissapointed me. This example shows that their games have potential, but in the End, Ubisoft keep their eyes on deadlines, but the Game is always buggy as hell. And if there are too many of those games out there people lose interest. I mean who is still fascinated by all those explosions and stuff in CoD? It became normal, nothing cool or special. That's why I'm glad Rockstar take their time and hopefully don't try to make the funniest, goriest or whatever game in the world. I just want to play an AAA title again that feels complete and believeable. But that's just my opinion.

Snake Without a Tongue
MP3 was hardly "vast" and it took forever. R* is great, but they're short bus slow.
rader1
Seems like people are just fooling themselves into thinking R* makes is perfect and the time spent making it guarantees a A+++ product. I have yet to play a R* game that's free of bugs or glitches. I actually went back and played IV about a month ago, really good game but it definitely has it's share of bugs and f*ck ups. LA Noire was good, but very repetitive after the first couple hours and the driving was absolute trash. The midnight club series is a joke at this point. AC3 had a couple glitches with pop in distances but that's the only issue I had the whole game(the ending was a bit of a let down, but that's just how the writers wanted it so it is what it is.) I'm playing through Far Cry 3 now and it's awesome. I have yet to have any standout problems or glitches. I don't care what you guys say, the COD games are VERY fun and are getting better year after year. Ubisoft is getting quality products out the door at a very reasonable pace. When V drops it's going to have glitches and bugs. If you think this extra "polishing" time is going to result in a bug free gaming experience you're going to be very dissapointed. Yes, I will be pissed off if V falls short in terms of size and features. After all the wait and the silence I really dont see any excuse for this. Thats why no properties bothers me so much. I just dont want another GTA IV situation. I was so hyped for that game, and it just wasnt what I wanted r expected. Its a great game but I just generally was unhappy with it. I think I speak for alot of others in this regard I mean, I don't expect V to meet ALL my expectations. I can't help getting my hopes up for certain things. But, if this is truly R*'s most ambitious game to date... and they want this generation of consoles to go out with a bang (just like San Andreas did with the last generation) then that gives me great confidence in V... even if some of the things I expect from it fall short. Honest Bill
Theoretically, if they had twice the staff they could make the games twice as quick.. Although in practise there is always a smal team of core designers, who can't really do twice the work they once did.. But yes there's no reason it wouldn't be possible for them to make games quicker. Ubisoft's credits have about a zillion (give or take a few) staff credited at the end of their games.. It's also annoying that you're forced to watch it.... Seriously, i don't care who was the guy who cast the voice actors' assistant.. It is of no interest so stop making me f*cking watch them. Also, despite AC3 massive list of staff, it was a bit buggy and seemed rushed in many regards, although it was a quality product and a few minor bugs never bother me. The same can be said for GTAIV.. It took ages to make but still had quite a lot of bugs, as i'm sure V will also.

LewisMiller
The more people on a project the harder it is to control and keep quality consistent, Rockstar say that they work in small teams and smaller teams make better quality and quality consistent games but it takes them a lot longer to do things. S1LV3R_W0LF
Honestly for me now UBISOFT is side by side with ROCKSTAR and that is because of what GTAV promises, but thats all, UBISOFT been doing an amazing job year after year, I don't know what are your problems but my PC Games are flawless, AC3, FC3 not a single bug or problem and mostly important they DO RESPECT PC platform which is a huge plus for their work and they deserve my money for that. As for how fast they work with quality products, did you pay attention to the credits and how many studios/ people they have all over the world? I think ROCKSTAR isn't as big as UBISOFT in terms of staff, and they even do another thing, they have representatives in almost all languages including Portuguese which is rare, while ROCKSTAR only have the usual ones. Not that i have a problem with English, in fact I rather play games in English but that shows the size of their team.
