GAIKAI GTA V? The solution for PC people?

Hey,

I bet most of you know the service "Gaikai" by Sony. Its a revolutinary online plattform, that allows you to play High End 3D Games like NFS, Darksiders etc. in your Browser. This wprks with a VIDEO STREAM! That means: The game will perform on their servers and you just getting a highspeed HD livestream and control the game in realtime.

This is just awesome and works very very good!

This could maybe be the solution for the people with no Consoles. Maybe Gaikai is plaining to get GTA V on their plattform and so you could play it through your browser.

Its just an Idea. What do you thin?

That's certainly a possibility from a technical standpoint. Whether that would be implemented depends upon business decisions from both companies. We'll see.

If I'm not mistaken it will still be impossible to mod the game using Gaikai. I don't care if there is a possibility to mod or not, but some people do. And modding might be the reason for those people to buy it on PC instead of console.

Yes, not possible. A PS3 version of the game will be running on servers, and a video stream is sent to your PC.

OP is not talking about a PC version here. It's about playing PS3 games on your PC - which is hosted off-site.

Basically, a way to play the game for those who don't own consoles - regardless of whether or not they're waiting for an actual PC version.

God no.

Why would I want to stream a game to my browser?

I'd be better off playing on 360 or PS3.

I've played that 'OnLive' service and its actually amazing how it works.. however the lag is annoying.

Trust me in years to come this is how all gaming will work.

I'm not as well versed on the latest happenings of this service. Only had a brief look on its wiki that said Sony teased PS3 games on the service: http://www.xtremeps3.com/2012/10/11/gaikai...station-titles/

This thread is not about you and your interests. It's about showcasing the possibility and speculating that people who don't own consoles might be able to play GTAV on their PCs (not even high-end PCs) if Gaikai picks up GTAV - even though that's a big IF.

Forgive me as I'm not a tech savy guy, but could this be what is revealed on Feb 20th? could this be what they mean as far as the future of gaming?

Unfortunately my internet speed is way too slow much like most of the UK that isn't in a major city meaning this service would be utterly pointless. That said, my PC is far too powerful and I like to test the hardware on the latest games.

Not really revolutionary, OnLive were the first to do something similar.

Gaikai has already been "revealed". I think it's more than likely PS4 probably. It's been getting a lot of buzz, like with today's news:

Coincidentally, one report says PS4 will include Gaikai technology.

That's just all talk, I can't find any "try it now" or "play it here" sections on those sites. WHERE can I actually PLAY via this streaming thing?

What's idea if that's true, that the PS4 will have Gaikai? Does that mean no disks required so basically you could play full games on your PS4 with out a game disk by using your browser on the play station?

Live game streaming at anywhere near high resolution with no lag is still a long way off though. There's no doubt its the future of gaming and there's no doubt both Sony and MS will introduce it with the next gen consoles but you're not going to see it widely used for big AAA titles like GTA I don't think. Not a for a few years anyway. The network infrastructure isn't there for it yet which is one of the reasons Onlive went down the pan. With the next gen machines it'll be used for smaller simpler games. A low fi game like Journey or Flower could use it well.

Its a technology that's still in its infancy.

Let's wait for Sony to answer these questions? I'm not the authority on the matter wink.gif.

Hahahahhaha icon14.gif I'll keep that in mind, cheers mate! cool.gif

I understand the purpose of Gaikai, a simple google....lol just not sure if and why the PS4 would have this. I'm an Xbox boy, but the PS4 has be intrigued. icon14.gif

EDIT: By best educated guess, though that I lack apparently....lol Is that PC and PS4 could one day play against each other online? For example if someone is running GTA V via there browser, and your friends owns a PS4, I would want to play online with by friends even though they do not have a PS4...... confused.gif

The next Xbox will have a similar feature. When onlive went down Microsoft hired most of its old employ's so they've got the knowledge and technology to do it. Like I said before though its not the principle of it that doesn't work its the global network that's still too slow for big games.

If you had not noticed Gaiki no longer provides PC gaming. Go to the site. Its not there no more. Gaiki is probably being launched along with the PS4 exclusively for that console.

Um.... so you assume Sony will let people skip buying their new console when it comes out and instead let them use their online video game video streaming service to play from whatever platform they want?

Seems legit. mercie_blink.gif

Like Gaikai for PS4 was a mystery... lol

Nintendo Wii-U: Tablet controller with video streaming from main unit

Nvidia Project Shield: Tablet (more or less) controller with video streaming from main unit

Sony Orbis: ??? Completely 100% mysterious. Just because they own a video game video streaming service doesn't mean they... hm... But Sony has no portables to stream to! Oh wait...

Oh yeah. Relation to V: zero. V is current gen, Gaikai on PS is next gen. The only way would again be backwards compatibility and we know Sony aint down with dat.

Pretty interested idea.

However, as many said, it will depend on how good they will implement this.

LOL

Despite that potentially you will be able to play PS4 games from any device that connected to the Internet, including smartphones

Well #1 let me start off by saying that I hate the route that PC gaming is going nowadays, being online dependent and all. Being required to have an online connection to just install a game or even just freakin play single player mode! (*Cough*BF3).

I'm in the military and I travel around a lot and I often bring my laptop with me to kill the boredom (especially deployments!) and alotta places I go to usually don't have Internet access (or limited amount of bandwidth) and it sucks not having to play certain single player games because for some reason you're required to "sign in" online. suicidal.gif

And #2 yeh sure it sounds like a good idea and some good intentions, but along with alotta streaming apps it also sounds like there's gonna be some serious lagging issues if you don't have a super reliable connection (you lucky motherf*ckers with good ISPs tounge2.gif)

Cuz over here in Hawaii, Time Warner Cable ain't cuttin it! Lol
