DickieM
1- Rockstar North has been working on V for an extensive period of time (similar to the game "Agent" which R* started developing at the end of the LAST GEN) and they've been very quiet about it lately. 2- They still haven't released the box art, even after they confirmed it was coming in the last week of January. 3- The current gen is dying and it's been proven the next gen is around the corner (Sony confirmed PS4 this year), meanwhile they've been developing it for the old hardware. 4- People just aren't that interested in GTA anymore. Apart from the hardcore fans (gtaforums users); casual gamers (the majority) don't know and/or don't care about GTA, because nearly everyone I've talked to on XBL about V couldn't care less about GTA after IV, because - alongside their disappointment in IV - they feel the quality of R*'s competitors' games have matched or surpassed GTA's "wow-factor" it was once known for. That's also due to R*'s marketing failure and competing developers' successful campaigns (COD, BF etc). R* could have realized this and scrapped the game altogether, but they obviously wouldn't want to kill their fans' hype, otherwise they wouldn't buy R* titles. This suggests they could have considered delaying V to cover up the fact that it isn't actually coming out. 5- Another factor one must take into consideration is their recent unsatisfactory financial performance. I am not a conspiracy theorist and I'm 100% certain the bogus 21/12/12 prediction had nothing to do with it, but R*/TT is a business, and businesses sometimes do some sh*tty things to make their money. Based on the above stated facts, we can conclude that there is a good chance of GTA V never hitting the shelves. I could be wrong, but don't say I didn't warn you if this happens to be the case. I was very enthusiastic about V until 1/31/13, but now I'm starting to accept that I may never get to play this game. Algonquin Assassin
Despite the fact they've given a release date? I know it can still be delayed, but atleast they're showing some confidence it'll be released this year. This isn't Agent. Not releasing is a disaster I just can't fathom. I think you're just thinking out of left field with the disappointment of the news that's all. GTA V will release guaranteed.

YoungChrist
Ok well first of all this isn't similar to "Agent" in any capacity because the game has actually been given a release date, is 2K's main source of income, theres already been two videos of obvious gameplay and several screenshots. Secondly, Im not even going to address the boxart arguement. The game was delayed for 4 more months, why the hell would they release boxart now? Thirdly, again as Rockstar has continually stated. Within the first year of the next gen console release literally a fraction of the gaming community will be owning and playing next gen consoles while most will remain on 360 and PS3 for the next probably 3-4 years. Fourthly, "People just aren't that interested in GTA anymore.".... What???? Yeah, ok anyways. And lastly I dont see how a 800 million dollar net income report for 2012 Q4 will have any negative affect on the production of GTA V, especially its cancellation as a project. Im flabbergasted with that last point actually. Lmfaooo brf*ckingb gonna go buy some shares in Take Two right before GTA V's launch. Capricornus
OP has some very stupid "facts" for such a bold prediction. Unlike Agent, we have an official release date for GTA V. GTA V has been covered, in great detail, by both Game Informer and IGN. We have gotten 2 trailers and a substantial amount of screenshots for GTA V. All Agent really got was a name, a platform and a developer. As far as the box art is concerned, why the f*ck would they release it 7 months before the game comes out? Gotta think more. residenteviloutbreak
Your facts = ignorant. Lol 1- Because GTA V is a gigantic game. GTA IV was in development directly after SA finished. Thats 4 years. 2- Box art is not the game, so it dont matter. 3- First, sony did NOT confirm the PS4. Second, Dying? GTA V releases this year, Dead Space 3 released this year, Tomb Raider Releases this year, Resident Evil Revelations HD releases this year... and so many more for PS3. ALSO, one of the biggest developers this gen is Activision because of COD. They clearly show they are still working with current gen hardware with the announcement of the new case cow, Skylanders 3 Swap Force, for PS3 and 360. 4- Sure were not all interested in GTA anymore, but all other franchises are STILL releasing current system games. Dead Space 3, Tomb Raider, Saints Row 4, GTA V, Spyro Skylanders 3 all come to mind. 5- Wrong. Rock Howard
In addition to what has already been stated, there is no way Rockstar would work on a game for as long as they have been (not to mention the fact that this particular game is part of their by far most popular franchise) and then cancel it. As it is there'd be millions of dollars in pre-orders already. Imagine what Rockstar would stand to lose? It won't happen. All this talk about next gen, it needn't be bothered with. It doesn't even factor into it. The game has been programmed and developed for the current gen, plain and simple. It just happens to be`a game that will be released towards the end of the current generation. Maybe an enhanced version will be released to the 360 and PS3 successors maybe not, but for now no-one need bother thinking about it because if it happens it probably won't be for some time after the version for current systems is released. Just like it was said on the first page, "a few weeks or so" is a prime example, along with this delay of the game itself, that R* don't really stick to the release windows that they give out. And that still doesn't change the fact that those "facts" of yours are f*cking ridiculous. That's like saying Nintendo will not release a big time Mario game, like a Super Mario Galaxy 3 or something.
saintsrow
While all the arguments against the OP's suggestion are of course strong and blazingly clear and it is unimaginable that GTAV will not be released and will not be mind-blowing, we should also keep in mind that (obviously) corporations are driven by financial decisions. The point is that, if by some crazy internal TTWO financial analysis or market research, they concluded that the estimated total income from GTAV would not exceed the total cost of producing it, the bean counters would shut down the project immediately and cut their losses. As I said, unimaginable....
