Unspec7
Ever since I installed GTA IV from the retail disc (and immediately updated to 1.07 using the patch from the website), I have never been able to load the game. I hit start, it loads the character screens, but after the second screen, it "crashes". Theres no error log, nor "GTAIV.exe has stopped working". It just minimizes the game and it won't ever maximize again. If I check my task manager, the game is still using CPU processing and the amount of memory it is using is still steadily increasing. I've done everything I could possibly do to get this game to work, and nothing has worked. Things I have tried: -Installed game using Vista SP2 compatibility. -Installed GWFL -Deleted settings.cfg -Tried xliveless -Setting every single .exe to run in Vista SP2 compatability mode. -Reinstalled 5-6 times already -Made sure I had no mods -Ran game in administration mode Am I supposed to patch the game one patch at a time, from update 1 all the way to update 7? I seriously can't figure out what is wrong. My system is completely overkill for this game, so its not that (3570k GTX 670). I haven't been able to play the game once. Any help? I visited the link you gave me and it just leads to a "Opps. This page does not exist". Would GTA IV not run on .net framework 4.5? Miro
You don't have to download and install each patch from 1 to 7. Just take the one you wish. I also have some suggestions: have you tried running the game in each and every compatibility mode available? Even Windows 98? What about trying to install xliveless? You also mentioned that since you got the game on the disc it didn't work, which means that it worked before? Dead (Retired)
