All I can say is thank God they're bringing back Thawne in some capacity. He was easily the best villain this show has ever had and maybe even the entire Arrowverse.

AAAHHHHHHHHH That ending to Arrow was AWESOME, Guggenhiem would have never have done that, he would've had Oli and Falicity resolved there differences in an underwelming manner and have them kiss a bunch

I must have missed something. Oliver and Felicity's forced drama is another part of the show that gets me to tune out for a bit. Did they "break up" again? From what I gathered it was just the typical Felicity rapidly changing her motivations for the sake of conflict thing they tend to do. I assume it will all resolve itself soon.

This crossover has been really good. I'm surprised that Guggenheim can write this well.

I've got 2 questions from the crossover:

1. It was previously mentioned that the multi-verse has 52-Earths and 53rd was never mentioned due to the Nazi trouble last year's Crisis on Earth X. How come Earth-90 appears all of sudden? Does this mean that there are more Earths?

2. Kara and Clark/Superman are from Earth-38. How does Superman from Earth 38 know Bruce Wayne from Earth-1? That's assuming that he can travel between the Earths. It's all confusing at this point. Or does Earth-38 have it's own version of Bruce and Batman?

I think Earth 90 is just a reference to the original Flash series from 1990, but I don't know what the canon reason for its existence is.

There are an infinite number of “earths”.  And the reason for it’s existence is for people like me who were kids in 1990 to say, “That’s my Flash”.

Anyway, I’m only watching the Elseworlds episodes.  Haven’t watched a single other episode of Flash, Arrow, or Supergirl this season.  Just no time and not interested in drawn out bloated storylines that last 20+ episodes.

At least now they are outright referencing Batman by name.  Still pulling the dumb old Bruce Wayne/Batman conveniently missing bullsh*t.

Not sure what it is, but this year's crossover has been kind of "meh" to me.

I feel you. These shows aren't what they used to be.

Arrow was kind of interesting at the beginning of this season with Oliver being in prison providing a nice change of pace. But they foolishly decided to keep Diaz as the big bad and he's just not that interesting. I'm a little interested in seeing where they go with Oliver's half-sister though.

Flash has a really weird villain this season with Cicada and the actor who portrays him has had some truly awful line delivery. I'm glad they're bringing back Eobard Thawne in some capacity, I only wish they brought the actor who plays him in his true form back.

Legends is goofy as hell, which admittedly was once a strength of the show, but they take it too far now. I can't take anything seriously on the show anymore (and maybe that's what they're going for) but it makes it hard to care about the story.

I think it's the second one, that they have their own Bruce Wayne.

I wanna know who on the writing staff thought that was a good idea. I had no expectation of seeing the Smallville cast in this crossover but when the music hit and they showed the farm I got super excited. It turned the return of Superman and the introduction of Lois Lane into a massive disappointment for me.

Anybody else getting the feeling that this might be the crisis that finally merges Supergirl into the main universe? The way The Monitor was talking about universes colliding made me think they might be heading that direction.

Emiko?!  They finally brought in Emiko?!  I’m gonna be honest.  I’ve only read one Green Arrow run, and that’s the New 52 run that Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino did.  Emiko is my favorite underrated DC character.  Is she a kid?  Or is she a sexy 20 something like they do with all DC/CW characters.  Please tell me she’s a kid.

I used to have fantasies about writing a story about Emiko and Damian Wayne (Bruce’s Son and Robin) having a “Little Manhattan” type starcrossed first love, but with Green Arrow and Batman being at odds with each other.

Without a Tom Welling cameo, the Smallville theme playing just feels like a cheap pop

A cheap pop with a side of trolling. It's like if Stone Cold's music played on RAW but Curt Hawkins is the one who comes out.

That’s disappointing.  Half of what makes her awesome is that she’s a pre-teen girl who can kill a man in a hundred ways.

Well, this one's a grown woman, almost as old as Oliver. She was revealed in the episode "Unmasked". She's had no lines or dialogues yet with other characters, other than speaking to Robert Queen's grave. The thing about cross-overs is that the respective shows don't induce new characters from the current season into it.

Not me. The fact of Supergirl being on a different universe made it interesting and helped these guys (Oliver & Barry) when the whole world saw them as Quantum opposites of each other. And Earth 38 ain't far. It's just a breach away.

When they do Crisis they’ll definitely merge Supergirl into Earth-1, along with Superman.

So who's dying next year? That convo Oliver had really made it seem like he was going to sacrifice himself. It makes sense if he dies Arrow has already run it's course. I don't think they do it though since it airs in the fall and they have a long 20+ season unless S8 of Arrow is shortened. Superman could also die he's married, Lois is Pregnant, and they don't really seem to want a Superman show since they have Supergirl so he's probably gonna die.

I mean Barry could die too like he did in the comics but I don't think they have the balls to do it.

To be honest, I was expecting them to do it in this last episode when Clark used the book to fix everything. Also, what happened to Deegan's face? I didn't get whatever reference was made to it. I had to re-watch all the episodes to find easter eggs and references.

You know what? I take back not liking Legends because of the emphasis on humor. It's such a good show if you just turn off your brain and embrace the ridiculousness. I just finished watch the mid-season finale and that one skit they had where they were puppets was just f*cking hilarious to me for some reason. I enjoyed this latest episode more than anything Flash or Arrow have done this season.

The ridiculousness is what makes Legends interesting. The fact that it makes a spoof of everything is hilarious. Too many puns, references to the Annual Crossover and Homages to The A-Team and Charlie’s Angels. What's adorable were the singing puppets teaching life lessons. Also, is Dez Neron's conduit or something now? Or it's Neron wearing Dez's face? Which part was the most interesting here? CUSTODIANS OF THE CHRONOLOGY!! or SIRENS OF SPACE-TIME!! Ah, I mean PUPPETS OF TOMORROW….maybe?

Yeah, embracing the silly was probably the best choice the show could have made. It's way easier to just ignore the fact that their time travel "rules" make no sense when you're just having a good time.

Though I do feel like they may be at risk of going a little too far with it right now. I love the comedic dynamic of the Legends but it seems to be infecting the Time Bureau as well. The main team being a bunch of dysfunctional misfits doesn't quite work as well when you realize that their bosses are kinda the same.

A body swap episode for Legends is needed, like imagine this

Sara - Rory

Nate - Constantine

Zari - Gary

Ray - Gideon

Charlie - Ava

This needs to happen

We were told about there only being 52 Earth's be Wells if I recall (or it may have been HR). In any case, the way I look at it, is that he said 52 (or 53 if you include Earth-X) is because he's only aware of 52/53. The multiverse is, by definition, infinite.

Earth-38 has both Batman and Superman; Batman has been referenced several times by (at least) Kara and Wynn. There obviously isn't a Superman on Earth-1.

This would certainly seem logical per the Arrowverse, but you've got to wonder whether they'll do the same with Earth-2, Earth-90 and so on. It (shouldn't) be as simple as just merging Earth's, cause there's going to be consequences. Which of all the doppelgangers gets to exist?

I mean Barry could die too like he did in the comics but I don't think they have the balls to do it.

They're not going to kill Barry or Kara, lets be realistic here. The way I see it, there are three contenders for the big death, and they are;

  • Earth-1 Green Arrow / Oliver Queen
  • Earth-38 Superman / Clark Kent
  • Earth-90 Flash / Barry Allen

I'm thinking the Earth-90 Flash is the least likely, because JWS's character has died (or retired from service) enough times already, and do dying again isn't quite going to affect viewer emotions so much because he's a character we simply don't know, or really care for, however he's be a solid substitute. The obvious candidate is Ollie; Arrow will be on it's 8th Season during the Crisis event, which would mean he'd have to die half way through the shows final season, and I'm not sure they'd do that - not unless something happens to him during the crossover which seems him worsen (physically) over the remaining Arrow episodes before dying in the final. His conversation with the Monitor certainly seems like he'll be the one to go, however that seems too obvious to be honest. The surprise candidate may be Superman, because (frankly) I don't see them ever doing a CW Superman show, and they can't have the character around too much on Supergirl cause he'll take away the focus.

In the comics, the Flash (Barry Allen) and Supergirl die as a result of the crisis event. My guess is that Barry Allen will die (but it'll be Earth-90's Barry Allen) and Superman will die instead of Supergirl.

Been wanting to post a proper Elseworlds review for a while. Didn't get a chance till today. There was a lot to love and it was a bit to see that the Legends weren't included this year. I enjoyed the inside jokes and easter eggs. The show begins with Earth 90 and ends up with Earth 1. The Monitor sets his course for Gotham City on Earth 1 and delivers the Book of Destiny to John Deegan, a doctor at Arkham Asylum. He gives Deegan the task of rewriting reality using the book in order to test the survivability of Earth 1 against a future crisis.

The first attempt turns all Freaky Fridayish swapping Barry and Oliver. Team Flash is skeptical enough to lock them both in the pipeline. Teaching each other about their powers, they escape to Earth 38 asking Kara/Supergirl for help. Smallville theme plays and nostalgia follows. Accompanied by Superman they travel to Earth 1 to defeat Amazo Android and a vibe from Cisco eventually gives our heroes a lead that points them towards Gotham City. Discussing the legend of Batman leads them to Kate Kane and infiltrate Arkham Asylum only to be dosed with a fear toxin which causes them to see each other as their mortal enemies: Eobard Thawne for Barry (actually Oliver) and Malcolm Merlyn for Oliver (Barry). I wonder why they both see the wrong enemies irrespective of the freaky friday.

Grabbing the Book of Destiny, everyone gathers at STAR Labs where Barry Allen from Earth 90 explains that The Monitor is using the book to approximate the collision of realities that the multiverse will face in a future crisis. The team briefly confronts The Monitor, but he whisks away The Flash from Earth 90 and returns the Book of Destiny to Deegan. Enter evil Superman (Deegan casting himself) while Barry and Oliver are turned into the villainous Trigger Twins while Kara is locked in Star Labs on Earth 1

The Monitor’s final test is about embracing their true selves. Oliver embraces his darkness rather than deny it, but at the same time expresses his belief in the hope and goodness represented by Barry and Kara who must slow down time by running in opposite directions around the Earth despite knowing that they are destined to die. Oliver confronts The Monitor alone and asks him to alter Barry and Kara’s destiny, calling him foolish for being willing to sacrifice the very people he thinks are most capable of saving the multiverse.

Thoughts:

1. The Crossover could have merged Earth 38 into Earth 1.

2. Legends should have been included.

3. More Batwoman maybe. She was really good.

4. The Monitor could have said more about Crisis on Infinite Earths.
