I think everyone would. I don't know many people who think recasting Han Solo is a good idea.

Well, you can't exactly cast a 74 year old Harrison Ford in a Han Solo origins movie, so yeah, it's a good idea to recast. :p

A han solo film would be, to be frank, crap. An Obi-Wan film on the other hand is a beautiful monster waiting to be unleashed. It's the best solo film you could release in the current Star Wars universe. That fan-made teaser looks absolutely gripping, so imagine what a quality studio-made film would be like if they bought Ewan back.

The Dedito Gae

A movie based on a retired jedi living in middle of nowhere is more interesting that following the adventures of the dopest *smuggler in the galaxy and his Manbearpig sidekick.

Makes sense.

I think you mean smuggler MH, but I agree with the essence of your post.

In fact, as a fan of Obi Wan and not so much Han, I'll go on record now saying that a Han Solo origins has all the potential ingredients to be able to produce something better than a Kenobi film set between RoTS & ANH ever could be. An adaption of say the Kenobi novel would be nice and preferably sooner rather than later, but the best potential Kenobi films you could make fall in prequel territory which, given Disney's apparent stance on the prequels.. a no go. Whether it ends up being good or not is another matter entirely.

Yes it does make sense, because Obi Won's story could be wrapped up in a movie or 2. Han's story is way to deep and too big to be a movie, so much would have to be cut, it would be better off as being a tv series or mini series.

Obi Wan has been long enough in the spotlight, with all the spin-off cartoons and the prequels (which he miraculously scaped unscathed as a character), while Han Solo didn't.

I know there's thousands of comics, videogames, cartoons, books and whatnot about Solo but the movies are the meat of the series.

...Han's story is way to deep and too big to be a movie, so much would have to be cut...

This could be applied to most action heroes. There's no need to show every single moment of his life and adventure he had on one single movie, you know? Edited by Midnight Hitman

I'm a fan of this Rogue One flick because while it's a major plotline in the universe, which makes sense, it's not dealing mainly with characters we already know. This is such a huge galaxy with so many trillions of individuals, I think it truly does the series a disservice when we keep visiting the same names. Really shrinks this galaxy.

i understand but there is so much to han solo that one or two movies wouldn't do him justice. Netflix or Starz should pick it up and do a couple season with his characters.

What I mean is just that. You can't replace Harrison Ford. A) He's 74, and B) he is Han Solo. Bringing in anyone other than Harrison Ford from the 70s (via time machine) is not going to end well.

Mark my words. That movie is going to be the "Into Darkness" of Star Wars movies.

Its a shame, really. Theres so much that could be done in the prequel era.

Matter of fact, I'm re-reading Kenobi right now. It's a great book, but yeah, I can't possibly imagine Disney greenlighting that kind of story as a big tentpole blockbuster. Maybe a Netflix show, that could work.

I think they could easily write a story about Obi-Wan going off-world, helping Purge survivors or something (the old EU already has stories like that, after all), but it would need to be done carefully. Without any Imperial involvement, without Obi-Wan doing anything that could tip Vader off... Essentially, we have The Phantom Pain situation here, where no matter what you do, you have to keep the story contained and small scale, so the events won't disrupt the setting or attract attention to Ben's exile. It can be done, but the limitations are rather strict.

A prequel era story would be great, though. Ideally, I'd stay away from the Clone Wars proper (I'd leave that for a Windu or a Clone Commando movie) and do a Cloak of Deception mixed in with the Obi-Wan and Satine backstory or a more lighthearted adventure with Obi-Wan and Anakin, set in the years leading to AotC, instead.

not sure if this is the right place, but maybe, in case any star wars fan here is kinda getting hungry for more star wars related content, but never has tried the books...or better....did not even knew they exist, i kinda made a personal list and i am just gonna leave it here if nobody minds :) :

"Darth Plagueis" , "Tarkin", "Dark Lord: the rise of Darth Vader"and "Labyrinth of Evil" by James Luceno

the novelisation of "Revenge of the Sith", "the Tenebrous way" and "Shatterpoint" by Matthew Stover

any book from the "Thrawn trilogy" by "timothy Zahn

any book from the "Darth bane trilogy" by Drew Karpyshyn

"deceived" and "lords of the sith" by paul s. kemp

more on topic: i do not see the coming movie end well...the last movie is the only movie i disliked for being pretty much a remake of several movies with no originality in it story wise.

if i had more faith in people making movies i would say they rather should make a movie of any of the books i just named

^Seriously? Boba Fett fan speaking obout overrated character is like gangster speaking about morality. And of course you know that every badass thing little Boba done is noncanon ;)

Boba in new canon was sold by Ventress and die in Sarlaac Pit.

Oh, I'm pretty sure Thrawn will get to walk away just fine.

Transferred to Sheev's Jakku/Unknown Regions expedition, prefereably.

The EU fans would take this as a personal insult and bomb the LFL, if he was taken out so soon after his hyped comeback. Besides, it's not really the problem with the character per se, but rather the fans who worship him. I started re-reading The Thrawn Trilogy for the occassion (at The Last Command, atm) and he's still the best thing about those books. What happened to the character afterwards, that's another story.

I think Zahn being able to start anew with him is the best thing that could have happened.

But yeah, also really enjoying the show. The opening was a slow burn, but there was no need for another The Siege of Lothal in this season and I like that they are taking their time setting Thrawn up, rather than throwing him right in the fray.

Yesterday's episode was awesome, though.

>MUH HEART during the cave scene; then the scene with Maul and Hera and him going manic at the end... god, Sam Witwer is so good.

Likely. People are also speculating about Savage, since we know the Nightsister magic is going to be involved somehow, but I'd rather leave him dead and buried. It's going to be interesting to see how they'll make the story work. Luke is a dangerous ground to tread around and we're very close to ANH at this point, too. I suppose that he'll just have a short cameo and won't even come into contact with the Ghost crew directly.

I also wonder what Ezra really saw. He spoke about planets, plural, right? Alderaan is an obvious assumption, but what else could be there?

I'd love a Kill Bill-style finale between Maul and Ben. Just those two old enemies, who have both endured so much pain and lost so much, sitting down and just talking, before trying to murder each other with lightsabers.

Yeah, Savage should stay dead. He was really just a placeholder for Maul anyway, until they just brought him in and made Savage kind of obsolete.
