May the 4th is a so-called Star Wars holiday because it is a play on the words "may the Force" be with you.

Revenge of the Sith, Empire Strikes Back, and A New Hope are my favorites.

The prequel trilogy comes to mind here, trying to explain the science behind the force, which went.. poorly.

I agree. I know it was George himself who wanted to do that, and maybe always imagined it to be as such, but I think he crapped on his own very beautifully-conceived mythology. I believe that one of the main hooks of Star Wars in 1977 and the whole "Use the Force" thing was its simplicity, and non-specific leaning. That allowed the fans to soak it up in any way they liked, and why it entered pop culture. Fans could pretend to 'Use the Force', and have fun with it. It was just a bit of vague magic, not some science-based, specific idea depending on the character's genetics. I think that idea limited it in terms of meta-accessibility.

Been a big fan since I was a kid in the 90's. I got onboard the SW train right around when the '97 remasters came out, so there was toys and stuff from the old movies everywhere at the time. Then of course we got The Phantom Menace a couple of years later. Then AotC when I was 11-12. It was a great time to be a Star Wars kid.

Gotta say this however, my interest in SW has greatly vaned in the last decade or so. I loved the prequel trilogy despite some cringey stuff and whatnot.  I do not like the sequel trilogy but I love Rogue One as it reminds me the most of the original trilogy, which is also my favorite trilogy. The Empire Strikes Back is my fave of them all. Darth Vader and Boba Fett are my favorite characters and I would definitely be a Sith irl.

Before I ever saw the og trilogy as a kid my dad always used to say that we had to watch them, as he was a kid in the 80's and loved them back then. He always referred to them as "Stjärnornas Krig" which is the Swedish translation, but grammatically it translates closer to "(the) War of the Stars". I always thought that had a nice ring to it. It makes it extra nostalgic to me as I miss being a kid watching them with him.

I feel really old, seen a old  original Star Wars poster the other day saying the  first star wars is 45 years old,  and I seen it when I was 8  years old at the theatre

FFS... we got STAR WARS KALASHNIKOVs!!! 😵

spacer.png

... at least, for decades, people tried to use modified versions of less known or strange looking personal weapons in SW universe (except for german MG34 machine gun, that one was 1:1 and know to everyone) - but this is just over the top idiotic and cheap in 2022 (you see, they are rebel-partizans in woods so 'kalash' of course 😄)

(I'm sorry if this 'weapon' was already used in some of Disney SWars movies, I'm not a fan and didnt watch all of them)

This is from a teaser trailer of brand new tv show 'Andor' and it is basically a prequel to 'Roque One' move - and I'm already dropping my money in "it's gonna be dumb basic empty crap" hat, looking at trailer and people involved 🙄

I am actually looking forward to "Andor". Some of it was actually filmed not far from me in Cleveleys. This beachfront cafe was transformed into a set for the show.

The premise looks like a kind of WWII spy thriller set in and amongst the Star Wars Galaxy at the height of the Empire, who are of course standing in for the Nazis. I think it could be good. Diego Luna's character was pretty cool in Rogue One.

Has anybody seen Kenobi? It's only on its third episode but I've been enjoying it so far. It takes place after Order 66 was enacted.

I feel like I made this post already. I dunno if this is deja vu or senile creeping up on me.

I have been watching Obi-Wan Kenobi. It is okay for the most part, the little girl who plays young Leia does a nice job.

Ewan McGregor was always just about the best thing in Episodes I, II and III. I know that he has in the past expressed his dissatisfaction with the filming process of those films, and performing on empty sound-stages in front of green screens. This series seems to go some way to offering some redemption for his portrayal of the character. Once again he is the best thing about it. He's always watchable.

The only thing I would say about it, and it is probably an unfair criticism given that it is a TV series with a TV series budget, is that you can tell. It does look a bit cheap and 'small' in parts.

However, I do feel that is a bit unfair when you consider that the Star Wars films were themselves a homage to republic serials, and this format is probably closer to that than the films would be.

I just finished watching the rescue  chapter 16  and they  used cgi on a   look - alike  actor named Max Lloyd-Jones - IMDb  and Mark Hamill was dressed and on set for episode 16 and most likely did the voice over

Mark Hamill's name is in the credits for chapter 16

Who is the Mark Hamill look alike in The Mandalorian?
He looked really video game-y. As IndieWire reported back when that Mandalorian episode aired, Luke's return actually did involve Mark Hamill. The OG Luke was on set and in costume during filming, and footage of 70-ish Mark Hamill was melded together with footage of a younger body double, Max Lloyd-Jones  Feb 7, 2022

I am really enjoying it. It's getting a lot of flack online but I think the Star Wars fan base is one of the most toxic, entitled fan bases on the planet.

Vader is everything I wanted to see after Revenge Of The Sith. Episode 4 was slow, but I would still recommend it to anyone, especially if they enjoyed the prequels.

Has anybody else noticed that the entire plot of Obi-Wan Kenobi is actually Jules' "Ezekiel 25:17" speech from Pulp Fiction?

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee"
