On screen game time

I'm the only one who missed the on screen clock on GTA IV?

Certainly, in terms of HUD, GTA IV was a major innovation compared to GTA III era, but I think a discrete clock would fit somewhere on the screen.

I think it would be pretty cool. Maybe like San Andreas in the top right or for GTA V in the top left.

I think it's better if they keep the time on the phone from here on out rather than on the HUD. Just my opinion, though.

Would be convenient on those missions you have to wait for a certain time to start. It would have to be optional though.

Always need a clock, gotta know what time is is. Damn, when I role play, the time can be crucial as some cutscenes look better certain times of the day. I'm a loser. happy.gif

What do you mean? The clock in the mobile phone was too hidden? I'll agree on that. I barely used the clock in IV, but in Vice City/San Andreas I would always rely on the clock because it was right there and easy enough to just look at it instead of in IV having to duck for cover in the middle of a fight, stand still and hope the police don't catch me, then press Down arrow, look for the tiny little pixelated clock on my pixelated mobile phone, then by the time I pull it away the screen goes black and white and I've been shot.

Me too! I hate it when a cutscene looks sh*tty because what time of day it is.

Thought I was the only weird one who did this, but it's so true! Like the last mission on IV where Niko says his

famous "Welcome to amerrrica", to me, the scene is just so much better when it's raining out and the sun is coming up.

A simple digital clock would look great in a upper left corner, or even below the radar

I agree.

Thing is, if weapons and cash are hidden, the clock would be alone and it'd seem weird, or maybe it'd not be clear what it's counting. However, with the phone, you just click up and it's there.

Maybe the 2 second minute changes didn't look good on the screen all the time.

Messed with their minds, time all longer and sh*t.

Is there a mod for IV that displays the time? I'd like to see how it looks...

I'm with you on this. icon14.gif

I was just playing SA and I always looked at the time, it's useful sometimes.

I agree with the annoyance of having to pull out your phone during a shootout, but it was also on the pause screen, so I wasn't too bothered by the time.

It was almost completely pointless in IV, thats what needs to change in V, it needs a bigger purpose.

Edit: Ah yes I'd forgotten its on your easily accessible phone.

I hated that I had to go to the pause menu just to find out what time it was, KawakSallas got it right, it should be placed under the radar. But I think in IV R* wanted the cut out as much of the HUD as possible.

On-screen clutter sucks. IV's minimalist HUD was a huge improvement. The OP's suggestion would be a step backward imho.

Yup, especially when in a vehicle.

No, I never missed those big bulky HUDS from the older GTAs. Why? Because I don't like half my screen being covered when I have no need for the information. I feel GTA 4 did it right. The gun selection would pop up when I wanted a gun, the wanted system would pop up when I got the heat. Or if I wanted to see everything, I could just hit down on the D-Pad.

Maybe it's because I've played a lot of Dead Space and prefer how it handles the HUD and inventory over most games. Plus I feel a big ass HUD like old GTAs take the immersion out of the game.

Yeah, I missed it too. Maybe keep the clock on the phone, or just keep it on the left of the screen.

I liked it in the phone. Make it optional for on screen?

Me too, and I definitely support it being an display option. Why not?

The real problem was Red Dead Redemption. I did not like having to pause the game whenever I wanted to check the time and even then it wasn't the highest-resolution clock face.

I want it like San Andreas again. I hope we get it like that so i can time cutscenes perfectly and never have to go through the slow process of pulling the phone out.
