Would Another 90's game work?

So far, we had 3 Gta games set in the 90's, GTA 1, San Andreas, and Liberty City Stories. Would you think Rockstar would be up for making another GTA game set in the 90's, or do you think that era is done and over for the series? There's still a lot of things they could parody/serve as gameplay points though, such as:

*The rave scene and the rise of drugs

*The "east vs. west" hip-hop conflict

*Y2K and the rise of technology

*The grunge scene

Forgive me if I missed anything turn.gif what do you guys think?

I wouldn't mind another game based in the 90's. I would prefer mid to late 90's where the Mafia's influence was decreasing greatly. That could be a cool storyline, one man helps keep his mafia family's reputation and power as everything is being dominated by multiple gangs and organizations.

The early 90's were quite different from the late 90's so I wouldn't see it as a problem.

An idea for a game that I've had is set in 1999, with Y2K etc. I got the idea from the song by Prince, and I'm working on the concept in my mind.

Liberty City Stories was set in 1998. It pretty much covered Y2K and the early days of the internet and such.

I'd be quite happy though if they did another 90's GTA.

Well I'm not talking necessarily about a GTA.

Well that'd be cool. I'd like to see more games in general that are set back in the 80's and 90's.

For some reason recently I've felt a huge amount of nostalgia thinking about the late 90's/early 00's. I think the whole vibe back then was rad, certainly a lot more than it is now. I just bought Play by Moby which came out in '99, a beautiful album which really sets the mood.

I think a gta in the mid-late 60s with a black protagonist would be cool. Or a gta in the late 70s with a white or Hispanic protagonist would also be cool. The 60s and 70s are the only decades where a good 3d/hd gta game set in the past can take place.

I dont know... The 90's games were great but I think we should get a game in the 70's but as a prequel to a game instead of a standalone game. tounge.gif

I would like to see another 90's GTA. 1995. Have Coolio, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, Sublime, TLC, Nirvana, Seal, Tupac, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam, Weezer, Garbage, Ace of Bass, Nine Inch Nails, Blackstreet, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, 311 and Alanis Mourisette. Classic rock station with Pink Floyd, more CCR, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, more Queen, Cream, Deep Purple and Van Halen.

It wouldn't have to be set in the same place though. It could be Chicago or wherever. 1995 is when I started to get into music. It's when I got my first album ever. Coolio's It Takes a Thief. Yes I am old.

^ Add Blink 182 and you'd have the perfect post. I'd like to see the game transition through to 1997, this way the radio playlist would change a little as each band were releasing their newest and best songs. For example; in the begining of the game you'd hear Sublime's Date Rape song on the 'local' radio station, or 'college' radio station. By the end of the game their song Santaria would all over the place.

R* should also get the rights to old recordings of when the bands [in real life] played live in the studio for the radio stations, then have the in game radio DJ's announce it "Up next we have Blink-182 performing live in the studio, this is their debut single off of Dude Ranch, take it away boys" *Live version of Dammit in 1997 starts playing*

I think so and hope so. But if one comes around I hope it's based around 96-99 because then we'd have a lot of good music.

I'd love to see GTA set in 90s more than anything else. This era has so much potencial...
