Although no one is asking me, I'd request that certain people here stop being nitpickers about this and that in regards to awards qualifications. In my humble opinion they are sorta sucking the fun out of something that is only meant to be positive and entertaining.

 

Despite your strong feelings on what should and should not count for various awards, ultimately this is an internet forum about a video game, and it should all be taken with a smile and a thumbs up. Whoever wins wins and in the end people remember you for how you interact with others rather than the hardware attached under your avatar. These awards have been going on years longer than some of you have been here, so just try and enjoy them for what they are.

 

Also, don't lobby for yourself to win X award. It would only make you winning anything seem cheap and a little sleazy. Like buying a hooker instead of convincing a girl to sleep with you solely with your charms. It doesn't have the same sense of accomplishment.

Absolutely. GTA-King and Grope have been rallying for their threads (especially in this thread) for ages competing for it. It makes you guys look stupid and you don't even know it. Don't be a medal whore, if you really do deserve the win then you'll win.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter who acts the most desperate, those that deserve to win will win if people take the time to participate and vote.

Not sure what you mean, but the polls should be up later today according to what Kirsty has said (I'm guessing). Also the polls go up for about 2 weeks if that is what you wanted to know.

It's not a topic, it's a forum. Each category will have it's own poll and you just vote for one option as you would a normal poll. It's then hidden so you can't vote again/see the scores. Simply the one with the most votes wins the award.

The way it used to be (though I did not vote the past couple years), all the categories are on one big polling page and you submit them at one time.

That's actually better for me becasue my exams are over on thursday. I don't know why but I wanted the fun to start when I was in relaxation mode

@lzw3: I quit my campaign for votes, because I realised how desperate it made me seem. But to say I've begged ALOT in this particular thread is absolute bullsh*t. Just look at the first page. That's the only time I tried to get votes. My mentality at first was that I thought I deserved an award because I have put alot of time & effort into certain things, so I thought it would be nice to have something to show for it. Nothing wrong with wanting to be compensated for your hard work, in my opinion. But now I know that whoever wins some awards will truly deserve it... because after all... it's YOUR guys' decision on who deserves what.

 

I'm nowhere near as egotistical as grope.

Yeah. Don't get too excited. It is like some old bastardized early 2000 plugin that seems to just serve the purpose - basic white text on brown(iirc) background with radio buttons and a next button for each category.

 

I'm not bitching or anything, and the people who put all the time and energy into setting them up should be commended. It is all out of love for this place and it's people.
