Will GTA V have Sim-Like Features?

so many people just read the title then reply without thinking. some sim like features would improve gameplay, tbh I see gun customization and clothing as sim like features, and you're all begging for them.

yes, but the OP suggested things like standing on a buffet, buying scrambled eggs for your family wink.gif

and I suggested ways to make the buffet idea appealing, check on the first page, it could very easily turn into a random event type thing.

I wouldn't mind the customization part of Sims, like with appearance, houses, or cars. I've never played Sims but I sort of know what it's about. As far as going to buffets and going the bathroom? I could care less.

well this would be cool… but then one "mission" is enough. no need to go dining several times to make this happen. As long as "taking out a girl" or "forced to go bowling" leads to something cool, I'm fine. But I never got why I had to take a girl to burger shot, skip the scene, and drive her back.

there's always ways to add replay value, if you think outside the box at why they could use the features, then you'll think of something cool.

Yes.

Well maybe not Sim-like per se, but I'm expecting a LOT of RPG-features.

GTA IV already added a lot of this stuff that turned it more and more into a RPG.

Why not? Like you said, if its an OPTIONAL feature just dont use it if you dont like it.

But why waste disk space on something 1% of people want. If Rockstar included everything people wanted we would have gta mixed with Sims, zombies, farmville, cod, forza and a whole load of other stuff and it wouldn't be gta no more.

Hell, as long as it's entirely optional, sure, do whatever you want. I'll either be rampaging in tanks, flying planes, or hanging out at the amusement park if they've got one. I like amusement parks and roller coasters.

i'm sure it was mentioned somewhere that you could follow NPC's around like Michael's gardener and he would actually have a life like you could follow him to his own house n stuff

Hehe, wow, you really read into that one. No, they said there would be "dynamic state machines" which affect the spawning rates of certain NPCs depending on certain conditions. For instance, those gardeners might spawn at bus stops during the morning, and then be spawned in the lawns of large homes during the afternoon. It's really nothing crazy, just some extra attention to detail to the way NPCs are spawned. They probably don't have anywhere interesting to go if you actually follow them, just like previous games.

Buffalo Soldier

Sims 2, good man - far better than that Sims 3 bollocks.

Anyway I'm for and against it. Whilst I would LOVE GTA to be more like an RPG game and have elements of that in it, I don't want it too over the top-ish. I mean taking your family out for meals is abit, well.. boring.

Unless it was in a mission where the meal turns into a shoot out, afterall it's GTA.

However, I do think in terms of customization and buying things, they need to take a good chunk from The Sims. Imagine being able to open your own nightclub, pub, store etc and have the will to choose what is sold, who you hire, when you open and close and be able to decorate the place. THAT would be amazing to be honest, would be a good little earner to and a nice way to add replay value AND go hand in hand with the other element I mentioned, allowing us to buy more things.

The problem with that is that GTA is not an RPG. The leveling system in San Andreas just felt weird, and it was much more easy to just cheat my way to buffness and sexual prowess. Nobody cares about how fat their character is, how clean they are, and other sh*t like that. They just want to kill people and blow stuff up. I just want to kill people and blow stuff up.

Again, though, these would be entirely optional, so I will probably just continue on my merry way killing people and blowing stuff up.

i wouldn't want this as a complete feature for GTA b.c i will find it becoming very boring after a while. But to have it happen in a mission no problem. Reason i feel this feature will never exist in a GTA game at least not anytime soon is because its GTA and not Sims. Secondly to come up with the dialog and animations just for these feature will limit us to other activities that make this feels like GTA and not Sims. Optional or not it will serve no purpose really, at least with watching TV theres entertainment there with bowling and darts, it brings us mini games. But what will taking our family out over and over do and what would using the bathroom give us, a few laughs? confused.gif That is why i say i rather have them part of missions or cutscenes, but definitley not a feature. IMO

I know what you guys are probably thinking: "Oh not another fail thread" or " Hell no, This is GTA, not The Sims!" But just hear me out. I have been playing The Sims 2 for the past few weeks, and it got me thinking, What if GTA V had some of the features that The Sims has? I mean I don't want it to be exactly like The Sims, i'm just saying that some of the features woul be good for GTA V. For Instance, what if we could take our Family out for dinner in GTA V? Like we could order and choose what meal we wanted, or like a buffet go get want you want at the buffet table and then be seated and have dinner. I think this would be cool, a first for the series! I mean I want GTA V to be a fresh start, so why not? It would also be cool if they threw in the option to use the bathroom, kinda how they let you in Sleeping Dogs, which was optional. I know some of you might disagree with me and say go back to playing The Sims if you want that, but as a big GTA fan, I just want to say a feature like this will make me love the game even more!

So, that being said, do you want something like this in GTA V as an optional feature? I mean if GTA V is going to be more Life-Like, why not throw it in? Give me some opinons on what you think. Just don't call me a fag for thinking creative. lol.giflol.gif

EDIT: And for you TL;DR guys out there, This feature could be entirely Optional, don't want to use it, don't use it!

I agree that some sim-like features should be in GTA 5. I loved sleeping dogs and one of my favorite games of 2012, so i wouldn't mind pressing a button so Trevor can go number 2 lol. I'm for more interaction, but not too much to make it seem out of place for a GTA game. I would like to choose what to eat for dinner too. w

There is only 1 Sims-like feature that I'd like to be added, purely for money-spending purposes.

Furniture stores, so you can buy what you want for your house. It wouldn't need to be a big part of the game, very small, actually. You wouldnt have to purchase anything, the story would never include it. Like I said, just another way to spend money. It would also make houses more than just a place to save and change clothes. Its an added option that helps give you the feel that these missions are actually providing something for these guys.

(BTW: I like the SIM-games very much! But if I want to play a sim-game, I simply play a simgame smile.gif )

Yeah, I like to jack cars, kill people, and do heists in my Sims games, so I'm really looking forward to GTAV.

Actually, I used to spend a lot of time in Second Life, which is completely open for people to define their own games and roleplay, and there are plenty of combat sims and decaying cities and other environments for mixed Sims / crime / combat play. The only problem is that Second Life does not have such excellent physics as GTA.

On-topic -- I think that as a optional mode or a DLC, Sims-type activities would be a fine way to expand the GTAV game replayability.

More specifically, since GTAV will be a nice virtual world to live in, I really hope that Rockstar keeps adding activities over time in DLC or just in terms of future multiplayer (or single player) modes to keep that world fresh and engaging for the many years until we see another GTA.

Furthermore, one could imagine a roleplay or Sims-like DLC specifically intened to bring whole other demographics (like Sims players) into the game at a later time, so they can enjoy the great world that Rockstar has created. It could be a significant market.

I beg to differ on that.

Firstly, a lot of people do care about full character customization, because that was one of the most popular features of San Andreas cited by GTA fans the most. The bodybuilding, tattoos, haircuts etc - people loved all that, and they wanted to see it return in GTA IV. I believe that feature is one of the reasons why SA remains the most popular GTA game in the series to this day.

Secondly, not everyone plays GTA just to "kill people" and "blow stuff up" and I am definitely one of them. Many more people play GTA for the main storyline and side missions/activities in free roam. The pure havoc and mayhem stuff in GTA is just peripheral to the experience for many, not everyone plays GTA like you do, I think most do not in fact.

Have you forgotten that one of the reasons why GTA IV was a letdown for many was because of the repetitive go-there-and-kill him missions ? Many people had complaints with IV because of a lack of more varied and sophisticated features, if it was just about killing and blowing up stuff, IV would not have been criticized that much.

Lol, and if they implent this; "WTF IS THIS sh*t ABOUT? WHY WOULD THEY ALLOW ME TO TAKE MY FAMILY OUT FOR DINNER IN GTA V"

And everybody complaints. Like what happened with GTA IV. (And yes, tons of people requested those minigames.)

You dont even know hot to spell words. IMPLEMENT NOT IMPLENT

Yeah I said that badly.

What I meant to say was that I personally don't care how fat and clean my guy is.

However, GTA still isn't an RPG. So why thrown in rushed RPG elements? That's what SA's stats felt like to me.

f*ck hunger too. Even with no hunger on I'd still have to eat to keep fat so my muscles wouldn't eat themselves. f*ck mechanics like that. I want to be flying a jet, not getting a burger.

if you are talking about just small stuff like choosing what food to order etc then sure but if you mean huge stuff like actual RPG then no. i doubt R* would waste their resources on something like that. they would have to make 2 separate games.

Trailer 1 0:30 There's your answer

It looks like sims, I mean the telescope and all these stuffs, Maybe it would be able to look into the stars or look into neighbor's bathroom with the telescope, if a young girl lives there! wink.gif They could do like that in the sims 2, and their neighbor got angry.

But I hope that is what they mean with fun things to buy.
