Zancudo
A couple of weeks ago I bought PlayStation 3 - practically, my first own current-gen console. I chose it over XBOX 360 mainly because it has a Blu-ray Disc, toll-free online services, more exclusive game titles and besides, I used to own this console for some couple of months back a few years ago, so now I wanted something different. I've tried a couple of exclusive demos and to my anticlimax, almost every extremely well-reviewed major titles that are oftenly recommended by people on miscellaneous forums had turned out to be either boring, childish, silly or all at the same time; simply disappointing. I played a demo of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and I'm frustrated on how hopeless the storyline and the characters are, and how much the gameplay turns to be just a vapid, overrated shooter. I played a demo of Resistance: Fall of Man with an expectancy I might finally sink into an FPP shooter (which I never enjoyed before) and draw some fun from it. Instead, it was uninstalled from the hard disk literally five minutes later after my chagrin on how boring and pointless became the uninventive shooting of non-scary aliens. Automatically, I crossed out Killzone series off my list supposing it won't be anything different than that. I bought Heavy Rain with a thought it might turn to be a very valuable game with sorts of interesting characters and a beautiful storyline but as far as I'm at the first chapter of Madison Paige, it seems like it's lacking everything what this game should have. The inviduals appear to be not believable, they're irritaing and stiff as a golf club. The atmosphere, the plot; they all feel bland and not so quaint as a community of gamers use to say. Although I plan on beating this title, it's just because I'm naturally curious of where the story will go, but I'm not passionate about it. Sadly. I won't even bother testing games like InFamous, Demon's Souls, Dragon's Dogma or Final Fantasy as I'm well sure they won't fit my taste. I'm willing to be more opened for different kinds of genres but it's not that simple and plain. Sometimes I wish to appreciate Final Fantasy for example, as I used to adore it when I was a child, but with a time flowing I feel like I won't ever enjoy it again. Those embarassing Japanese style characters and their dialog lines make me blush with constraint. Currently, I'm into Red Dead Redemption which is utterly amazing (Rockstar Games never disappoint), and MGS HD Collection that is obviously also very nice with its Peace Walker included which I never had a chance to play before (but didn't touch that one yet, I'm still on my thousandth Snake Eater playthrough). After I play with these two for a little bit longer, I aim for Gran Turismo 5 which I'm presumably gonna love. I'm also interested in Silent Hill: Downpour, but I'm completely undecided on that one as there's no a demo of it. I thought of SOCOM: Confrontation or SOCOM 4 but I'm even more hesitant on these two when I read people's reviews. Later this year, potentially, should bring more tolerable games such as The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Resident Evil: Revelations Unveiled Edition and, of course, GTA V and MGS: Ground Zeroes. But it's not enough. Reaching my memory, to the days when I used to sit on my kiddo ass and play on PlayStation 2, I had much more games to play besides MGS and GTA. I spent enjoyable hours beating such titles as Resident Evil 4, SOCOM, Final Fantasy X or Dog's Life. Later on PC, I used to (and actually still do) adore Star Wars: KotOR, The Elder Scrolls, Fable: The Lost Chapters and anything that Rockstar Games have released. But now it seems like there's nothing fun to play with. To be more precise, there aren't any console exclusive titles that I could enjoy. So, that's why I write here and expect for some help from you. What should I do in my matter? Keep searching for a new game or perhaps become (in some magic way) more opened for genres I wasn't determined for before? Could you recommend me any fine games that are only out on consoles, that I may actually enjoy? Moreover, doesn't have to be anything exclusive. It can be whatever what is out on PC either, it just has to be ambitious and eventful. Promote anything that comes to your mind. Not only in the matter of certain games, but perhaps you could also recommend me anything, like movies or books, that could change my perspective towards titles I didn't like before. Whatever that comes to your mind is welcome. Thanks.

Finn 7 five 11
I played a demo of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and I'm frustrated on how hopeless the storyline and the characters are Yeah the original Uncharted started out a little lame, the demo really doesn't do it justice. The storyline picks up quite a lot and you will find the story to be pretty fun and exciting, the characters really pick up and develop some interesting personalities, I suggest the bargain bin and playing more than just the demo, gameplay isn't too special though, but it's still a bundle of fun, trust me. Yeah but I guarantee you will LOVE Uncharted 2 and 3. They are more action packed and epic.

BullworthAcademy
No. Why. Anyway, Heavy Rain gets about 200x times more interesting from the middle of the game to the end of the game.
Zancudo
If the plot in Uncharted 2 & 3 is as silly as in the first one, then I'll pass it. When something is set in a real world, I expect it to be believable. Uncharted isn't. God of War seems like not my type of game. I still hope Heavy Rain is a good game. DonkeyEatingCheese
Dude, play Infamous! Trust me, if you like superheroes even a little bit, you'll f*cking love this game! Great story and characters with great choices which guarantee a 2nd playthrough (for me 3rd). The gameplay is so great too.
BullworthAcademy
You only want console exclusive titles? Because honestly, Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City are the best games of the last 30 years for me!
Zancudo
Doesn't have to be console exclusive, but preferably yes. Generally I'm just looking for a decent game to play.

kj2022
Uncharted 3 is a brilliant PS3 game, even if you hated number 1, 3 is atleast worth a rent.

Guest
So you're brushing off Killzone just because you didn't like R:FOM? Try Resistance 2 over FOM, Resistance 2 is a much more "modern" type shooter. It scraps the WW2 feeling and adds a mix between 1960s and the future, with much more creative weapons and the storyline has proper cutscenes etc. The co-op mode in that is also really good. 8 players going through levels fitted with their own loadouts and roles. Killzone 3 was a fun playthrough, it's not repetitive, practically every level introduces something new, and it's not all shooting. For example one level has you operate a jetpack fitted with a minigun and move through icebergs onto an oil rig. Another has you sniping from a rooftop, and then after that you're operating a mech walker through a post-apocalyptic town, and then you're hiding from guards with an SMG, moving through the shadows and bushes. I also got Fallout 3 GOTY a couple days agom that's pretty fun. The earlier levels have a scavenger feeling and living in a small community, but right from the go you have a choice to stay with the community or blow that town up and live in a top-level hotel suite. This can be chosen literally right after you enter the open world, depending on your character's skills and if he's an explosives expert, or a barter, or a scientist, or maybe just an outright brute with alot of strength and no intelligence. Wheatley
Try JOURNEY, it's brilliant. I recently bought a PS3 and it defiantly lives up to the hype. -Wheatley
Ash_735
You have very odd taste Zancudo, you don't like Uncharted because it's set in the real world and the story isn't real enough for you, how do you even get through games like GTA then? The first Uncharted, whilst still a very good game, is the worst of the trilogy, the best one being Uncharted 2, and as someone already said they're based pretty heavily on the Indiana Jones theme and borrow a lot from the films. And if I'm honest, if you don't like Uncharted's story style I doubt you'll like The Last Of Us as that's written and directed by the same team. The games you listed that you enjoyed playing suffer from the same things, are you sure you're not viewing them through Rose Tinted Glasses because you seem to have quite a grumpy view on modern games and not really giving them much of a chance. Again, you said you enjoy FFX back in the day but earlier you say now "Those embarassing Japanese style characters and their dialog lines make me blush with constraint." I mean, you say you like playing MGS, that's set in the real world, ...most of the events certainly aint real! Have you tried any games like Journey, The Unfinished Swan, Flower, Strangers Wrath HD and Muches Oddyssey HD, etc? How about games like Vanquish, which, story and acting wise are laughable but gameplay wise is very fun and creative to play. Or how about something retro styled like Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game?
