What will the pause screen map / design look like?

Back in the GTA 3 days the pause screen maps were colourful and appealing to the eye, but in GTA IV the map was dark, with black and greys, which kind of went with the theme of the game IMO. Based on this, what kind of map do you think will be featured in GTA V? Personally I think that it will go back to the brighter maps, or maybe it will BE ALONG THE LINES of MC:LA, when you can see the traffic moving etc, a bit like what it will look like when you swap characters, this 'Google maps' satellite view thing. I think this is more likely, and would be good for the pause screen map because it is a change from the 'static' maps in the past. This might seem like a pointless detail to some of you but it's important to me smile.gif something else to talk about could be the Pause screen design, which I think has changed pretty much between each game. Thanks.

It'll be awesome if the start menu map would be a zoom out to the whole map, have a google.maps kind of style like the switching, and you can switch between satelite or streetmap.

I think the map will look like the map of SA with colours and zoom smile.gif

Not forgetting the safe houses and other things!

It may be 3D this time but I'll be fine with the traditional style. I'm expecting a colour scheme, which mixes dollar green with a sand beige.

I hope the whole map is not shown in the pause menu right at the beggining of the game. Let's say it only shows the places where you've already been. Good idea?

+1 to the idea of the pause menu map being a satellite-style top down view of the whole map. I think that would be brilliant IMO.

Other then that, I'm not really fussed with how the pause menu map looks and if anything, it will probably look similar to GTA IV's IMO considering that Rockstar have moved well away from the cartoony look of the GTA III-era and are going for a more monochromatic colour scheme in their ingame maps.

Yes, like San Andreas.

zoom out satellite view like MCLA, then fade into a static map with ~7 layers of color. little ring with protag's face in it and an arrow pointing to other character's locations.

Something like a satellite view, very technical. Would match the whole FIB-theme.

or colorful to match the cali-feeling.

I trust in R* that this will match the feeling and main story of the game somehow. In IV everthing was a little bit darker and depressing (music theme, map, hud etc), in TBOGT it perfectly matched too, even in SA (which I didn't like that much) everything worked perfect together. Even the credits in the end.

Not sure if this is a good idea but:

what if each protagonist has their own unique pause menu? For example:

Trevor- all scratched up (like tlad)

Michael- professional looking, wealthy

Franklin- sporty

Basically the start menus match their personalities.

Excellent idea. Perhaps the faint background music that plays in IV and EFLC would also be unique for each character/

Who knows, maybe it will be completely different? Maybe if you press pause the character will take out his smartphone and it'll zoom in close to it, so you basically have the smartphone as the menu, and then have "Settings, Maps" etc. icons.

There's a lot of cool things R* could do.

Thanks, Mr Houser. smile.gif

Haha, I'm hoping for either a 3d radar or a Vice City looking one.

I think same as GTA IV but more like GTA SA in the way with different colours. Brown for mountains, blue for the ocean, grey for the city, light brown for the desert, etc . Maybe a little bit updated.

First off im pretty sure they will open the map by using a phone. And therefore i would say we will have a usual map and can switch to satelite view. Similar to the skyrim map but with more details

Would take too much time and be annoying as f*ck.

Anyway I'd like it to be a simple menu with the general 'Map, Options, Brief, Multiplayer, Load' buttons to choose from - and then of course have the map colourful like said. I'd also like if that menu, had different artworks of characters or locations that would change each time I go onto the menu.

GTA V's map will probably be like San Andreas and Vice City, with specific colors showing rock, sand, green areas etc...

GTA III's map was not colorful at all.

I think it would be funny to have a google or apple maps spoof that shows things like 'traffic' (simulated if course) and landmarks. To me this idea makes sense because with so many people carrying smartphones, and all of us being computer users, we tend to all look at maps on sites like this these days. It would give that familiar sort of look to it.

I would prefer a static, camera switching live scene from the streets when pausing the game,...without music, just the city/landscape noise!

I really hope it isn't a google streetview-style map like in Skyrim.

I hated that map in Skyrim. Yes, it's pretty, but not very functional. I still have no idea where most of the roads are, scrolling the map is difficult, and sometimes you can't even see what's down there because clouds are blocking your view.

I hope it's a bit more colourful this time around again, like the map of San Andreas.

A midnight Club LA style would be cool. I don't want it to be the horrible grey and black again. That was...................boring.
