gremlinkurst
Graphics: MSI TwinFrozr III HD-7850 (AMD Radeon 7800 Series) Processor: AMD FX 6100 (3.30 GHz x 6) RAM: 4 GB DDR3 OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 If I set Mouse Options Vehicle Steering to ON, I can't Free-Look while driving without the stupid steering wheel responding BUT I can move my character normally (as I'm accustomed to doing while playing on a PC) using a combination of directional keys and mouse gestures.... However, if I set the steering control (with mouse) to off so I don't crash and veer all over the GD'd f'ing place while driving, then my character does not respond to the mouse while afoot, giving me the VERY uncomfortable claustrophobic gameplay feel of a console game, like I'm playing a vintage Mario Brothers game, NOT an enjoyable experience. This did not used to happen. When CJ stopped responding to the mouse before, all I had to do was hit the pause menu and jerk my mouse around and then go back to the game, and then he'd move as commanded. I'm not very far along, so I GUESS I could reinstall, but if I HAVE to do that, do I also need to chit-can my saved games. I don't know if whatever screwed up might have been preserved in those files. How likely is it that cheat-generated data that was saved has corrupted the config files EVEN though I haven't cheated in a while? See, I hadn't remembered cheating and saving, but I have too much money for so early in the game. Perhaps I should first try starting a new game and see what issues persist? It's been a few years since I played this game on Windows XP, and I never COULD get past that stupid armory-robbing mission where that IDIOT Ryder keeps getting himself killed. Wish I could mod the game where HE loads the truck and I defend his stupid butt. Stupid National Guard keeps perpetually spawning (but that's an issue for an entirely different post; I only mention this to illustrate I'm not a noob). Girish
The first scenario is normal. You'll lose the free look ability with Vehicle Steering with Mouse set to ON. However, the second scenario is not normal. The problem that you described has been solved in the past by setting the game's compatibility to Windows 98. Check if that helps.
