Concerns with freeroam and an Alive World

my issue with GTA4's freeroam was that they tried to cram 16 people into 1 world and it ended up feeling like a Ghost town most of the time. sometimes, cars and pedestrians wouldnt even show up in the empty streets so youd have to RUN ACROSS THE WORLD ON FOOT...which usually resulted in me quitting the game. then if EVERYBODY was causing trouble, the game couldnt generate enough police to chase everyone lol. if that was the case with GTA4, how will they cram 30 players into 1 world and still generate all peds and cars??? i feel like its going to be a DIZASTER, current gen Obviously cant generate all that digital information.

if scaling down the # of people in freeroam and online games means a more REALISTICLY generated world, im all for it. Saints Row 3 did it with their multiplayer. it let other people come into your singleplayer game with Their toys and cars from their singleplayer game and you could take to the streets and have MASSIVE gang wars with the gangs or go and explore the world together and all the civilians, cars and activities from the single player world would be present to interact with with your guest, NOTHING was left out for multiplayer purposes, it was all there. i think the Only thing they scaled down was the # of allies you could recruit from 3 to 1.

basically, id love to see them scale down the # of people in 1 world and make the environment ALIVE this time around. iv got no problem with only 4 people running around my world vs 20 people and an empty beach icon13.gif

I think this all comes down to dedicated servers and such. GTA IV has hosted servers, and I believe that Red Dead Redemption has dedicated servers (which run much smoother). Obviously, there's also console and bandwidth limitations, but the servers are probably what matters the most. I'm hoping that GTA V has dedicated servers whle still allowing use to customize some of the settings (such as renting servers as long as there's no severe admin abuse).

I can't think of anybody that doesn't want to have a "living, breathing world" in multiplayer. GTA IV did fall quite flat in this area. The setting just felt. . . dead. . . when playing Free Mode. It's slightly better in Party Mode though, but then you only have one spawn point and four players.

i dont think i ever even tried party mode but the world always seemed more alive when there were Less People playing in it....but when it was 10 or more?? Empty streets and hardly anyone driving in what would usually be busy areas.

with RDR, it was easy to generate everything because the world was so spaced out, theres nothing to generate in the Desert....but i guess theyde Have to use dedicated servers for GTA5 to get 30 people in 1 world and have everything generate catspider.gif
