This chart shows violent crimes among teenagers.

Violent crimes are going down, even though there are more people, and more violent video games.

Any politician who says that violent crime and violent games are correlated *cough*HilaryClinton*cough* are full of sh*t.

Same as saying that guns and violent crimes are correlated *cough*Obama*cough* are full of sh*t as well.

The correlation is between mental cases getting their hands on guns and violent games. Yet no one inside Washington feels the need to address that issue, as they need something better to blame than the person that did the crime.

Ultimately, people will immediately turn to GTA V when it comes out, and they will ultimately be shot down by the overwhelming evidence against them. Yes, there isn't a whole lot of evidence, and these kinds of games have only existed for the last 18-20 years, but the evidence that is there is very strongly supporting video games.

Are you seriously saying, that there is no correlation with violent crime, and guns?

Thats like saying, that there is no relation with fast-food and McDonalds..

Medical malpractice kills more people in Amerika than anything. Go after them. We Amerikans have to have assault rifles in order to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. Thomas Jefferson, and many other forefathers wrote about and warned just that. The second amendment applies now more than ever. Once they take the guns, they enslave you. Just look at all the dictators throuout history. All the signs are there. Many states have already revolted against any gun policies from Obama and the U.N.. Why is the U.N. so hell-bent on taking guns from Americans anyway? Piers Morgan? They're trying to set the path but they will fail miserably. Obamacare.

The constitution will be protected from enemies, foriegn or domestic. Any fed who tries to arrest anyone or take assault rifles, or violate the constitution in any way, they will be arrested on sight. The people have spoken. It seems like the politicians are purposely trying to start a civil war. It's gonna come to that. A massive revolution on a scale never before seen.

Wow, you own an assault rifle because it's "cool"? Way to prove you're way too immature to own that thing. And if you think you and your buddies can take down an oppresive government with a couple AKs, have fun getting your brains blown out by government snipers and sh*t. Seriously, how deluded are you gun nuts?

You might wanna go read about Militias and the American Revolutionary war......

You also gotta consider. Our Military isn't gonna fire on its own people as fast as some nations will..

Our soldiers take an oath to defend the constitution not an individual..

Saddam's soldiers gassed their own people because they were loyal to Saddam not their country

Same thing in Syria right now. Those soldiers are loyal to their president not their country......

I am not pro gun person but here is an interesting true story.

My best friend owns an M4 variant. He's a level headed guy and only takes it to the range maybe once a year. About 2 years ago he was woke in the middle of the night to the sound of someone messing with his sliding glass door. He grabbed the M4 and knelt down in his bedroom doorway. A person entered the room with what appeared to be an Uzi! My friend calmly said "dont move and drop the gun or I will shoot." the guy saw my friend in his underwear with an assault rifle aimed at him and he quickly raised his hands and dropped the gun. Then he layed face down on the ground.

My friend grabbed his weapon and called the police all while holding this guy at gun point.

The cops arrested the man and later stated he was a Latin king and the break in was most likely an initiation. My friend told me he was so afraid, he didn't want to kill the guy. He always thought he wouldn't hesitate but when he saw the guy he really didn't want to kill him.

I think having an assault rifle as a hobbiest or because it is cool is a lame excuse to tell people who have lost children to shooting. But rather the fact that these guns are out there an that criminals will have them either way means a simple 9mm isn't always enough to protect you unfortunately.

I would have shot him. Dragged his ass to the lowrider sitting down the street and said "Here's your guy back"

Glad your friend is all right.....That M4 saved his life.

Well, I dont see why he should have killed him, sounds like the intruder complied right as he saw the gun pointed at him. I could see if the intruder pointed his gun as if he was going to shoot, then its on like donkey kong.

Gun control and gun rights is a discussion that you have to have a balanced view on because this issue breeds extremists on both sides. You shouldnt be to far to the left, or the right, that's why I stay in the middle. I support gun control but not OPPRESSIVE gun control. I also support gun rights, but not anarchy. Like for instance, Im cool with gun control to an extend but my hometown Chicago is oppressive. We cant have AK47's, AR15's, etc. It's so hard to get a legal gun that most of us turn to illegal guns. Our gun laws discourage legal gun ownership. I wanted an AK47 but cant get one because of gun laws banning it, plus I'd have to go through a whole lot of procedures just to own the legally non-banned accepted firearms. Then on top of that, I dunno if they're approve me to have a gun in the first place because of my legal status. But yet then they give people living in the middle of the woods all kind of weapons. Dont make sense for a dude in Mississippi in a town with 100 people being strapped up but we cant LEGALLY do what we want.

I can't believe the lengths you are going to prove what exactly? People collect all kinds of things in this country. That has no bearing on this particular comparison. Guns are made to kill. Showing photos of people doing other things with them doesn't change thAT FACT. are you trying to suggest that the 300 million guns floating around america are for collecting and hobbyists? The numbers make this argument ridiculous, in my opinon.

Sure, people collect cars, but that doesn't mean that the hundreds of millions of cars being manufactured and sold in America are for collecting. People also collect serial killer memorabilia. The list of "collectibles" is endless. To continually change the subject towards things like the enthusiast world of reasoning is in direct contrast to the sheer number of gun related violence in america.

I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, where i currently still reside. All my life i've witnessed gun violence on a massive scale. Anyone who lives in urban communities where minorities and poor people reside, live with the spectre of gun violence on a daily basis. Folks who live in suburban areas where the majority of residents are middle to upper class people, simply don't have a clue about how bad gun violence is in the country as a whole. Those people may be honest and responsible gun owners, but they are dwarfed by the reality that this country is by FAR the worst on the planet of FREE nations in terms of gun violence. The constant blaming of everything else BUT guns, will lead towards the onslaught against movies and video games. They are already shifting the blame.

I'm trying my best to keep the conversation rational and mature. I can't believe you are a mod. You accuse me of "derailing" threads, but the moment you have a disagreement with my opinion, you resort to juvenile responses. I don't claim to be a badass. I'm simply giving my opinion that different people will have different points of view depending on where you live.

I never claimed to have all the answers. I never claimed that everything i say is right. I give an opinion, followed by reasonable debate, and get ridiculed and cursed out for it. I must be way off about what forums are meant to be.

I still think the idea that just because you can prove that some people collect guns and are simply enthusiasts, somehow shuts down any idea that we have a gun problem in America. Very funny response by the way.

I understand where 73duster is coming from. He wasn't bragging about being from the Bronx. He was just saying that it has played a role in forming his opinions.

I agree. Most Americans don't think there is a gun control problem. Most of the guys hunting deer and elk aren't also turning on the evening news to hear about a shooting at the local 7/11.

But these such events happen with criminals not abiding citizens. The illegal guns are the ones that need to be regulated, not the legal ones.

If it was up to me we would disband the DEA and use the budget and resources to form a better version of the ATF. Drugs are only as deadly as the dealers with the guns

I think you need to calm down. I am not looking to argue with you or anything. And yes, when you randomly (and repeatedly) tell members to "f*ck off" and say their parents should have had an abortion (twice) it is certainly derailing threads and much more of a "juvenile response".

I've admitted that i have lost my temper on occasion. You keep bringing up past incidents to mask the fact that you are resorting to bait me into similar behavior. If anything, YOU are the one derailing this thread. Your response was childish, and nothing you say will change that. You are a mod, so instead of continuing such hipocritical behavior, try setting an example.

And stop telling people to calm down, I'm using less capital letters now.

The people you speak of who are shooting each other don't own those guns legally. So banning guns in a city where most guns are not allowed anyway. Isn't going to stop these individuals from shooting each other.......

People are always going to eat fruit, They are always going to feel love, they are always going drive fast cars. they are always going to watch porn....

people are always going to masturbate...Most importunately some segments of society are always going to shoot other people..Whether you make it illegal and ban everything about it.....

This isn't that hard to understand.........Making Chicago or New York a poster child for why we need gun control is the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my 30 years of existence... suicidal.gif

There's no reasoning with Republicans in America because they refuse to accept facts. How scary is it when half of the political spectrum is controlled by rich, corrupt assholes, who (like Romney said) won't let their views be dictated by fact-checkers. This is the same party that owns a massive amount of lethal weapons and threatens the other side with violence if they try to even regulate their weapons.

That's a recipe for disaster. And that's why I'm getting out of this country as soon as possible.

Nobody is threatening violence. I don't know where or when you got that idea.

The only people i've seen get violent is the young far left

The biggest part that pisses me off about that video is the pedestrians. They just stand and watch their property get destroyed. This is the biggest reason these young people do this. Can they know in some places in America they can get away with it. If they did this where I live. They would be tied up and put on a bus. That is why it don't happen here..

None of those little punks deserve anything in life......

You have a register a firearm when you buy it....

Criminal Code of conduct

Rule Number 1 : Don't be traceable

Rule number 2 only steal guns so they don't have to register it...

Most gun crimes happen in cities. Look at crime stats from places like Chicago or Philly, then look at gun crime stats from rural places. In the poorest of rural places there is little to no crime. I guess maybe just take guns from Yankees or city people? tounge2.gif Just kidding, just kidding! Everyone I know has assault weapons. They're just hunting rifles decked-out. And many people who didn't have an assault rifle certainly does now since Obama took office. Gun sales are through the roof---higher than any other time in history. That should tell you something.

Everyone has the right to defend their family/homes with whatever gun they so choose. Everyone has the right to just go to a range and shoot and have a good time. Everyone has the right to hunt for food. Everyone has a right to protect themselves from a lunatic government like the American government. These are rights garaunteed by the forefathers and the constitution of the U.S.. There's more reason to own assault weapons than to not own them. Obama says times are different. That constitution never outdates. This idiot and his friends doesn't seem to get it.

Eeerr.... Not exactly. There are alot of specifics on these. Apply for a carry permit and they will explain your rights very clearly. We have the right to own just about anything we want, but their actual usage is very legally limited.

73duster: I don't live in the best neighborhood, so I am aware of the problems of guns amongst criminals. I also know that banning my legally owned guns won't stop me from hearing those gunshots ring out in the neighborhood every couple weeks. As those people doing whatever they are doing don't care for laws and won't stop them. It will just stop my ability to defend myself against them. And think about this: the second that criminals learn that civilians have been disarmed, crime will most likely go UP, since they know that we cannot defend ourselves against them. Think about all those convenient store workers that work in bad neighborhoods.
