The U.S. Supreme Court last year ruled against a law in California that wanted to ban the sale of violent video games to minors. The constitution protects the sale of video games, and other forms of art and entertainment, through the First Amendment. There simply is no legal backing behind banning violent video games, at all. It didn't happen with films, and it won't happen with video games. While they may be different in how you interact with these two different forms of entertainment, their development and sale is constitutionally protected within the United States. As for press coverage, the Grand Theft Auto games have always had a lot of press coverage and attention from politicians. Before the very first GTA was sold, MPs in the UK Parliament were already talking about (and those recordings were used to advertise the game on the radio). Ultimately, as for the question, "Will this affect the release of GTAV?". The answer is no in that it won't be different from any other GTA release. You'll get the usual Glenn Becks talking about it, but this is the norm. As much as I want you to be right; I just don't trust the Government to follow the Constitution as closely any more. No derp. Did I ever mention that the majority of United Staters today are Anglo-Saxon descents? If they wan't something done, the government will use a fear tactic first. And nothing gets Americans on the side of lying politicians better than a good sob story. Why are we so stupid? And by we, I mean 90% of americans. Did you guys know tht it's so bad that they say if you don't give up your gun, you are mentally ill? It's called self-control. The United Staters simply lack the most. Here's why: First off, it's the political system and second, it's the people who are voters for any political party. They're simply clueless how the politicians do it on the inside. Take that turd FDR and prick Nixon for example. They're just stupid motherf*ckers. Besides, if we wouldn't rely on the PRC often, then we won't have to borrow from them commies anymore. The Chinese were the first people to make firearms, so who cares? The people in the land of opportunity are timid, weak and misunderstood whether they're democrats, libertarians, republicans or some tea party fecal matter. I already know how the political system in this country really is. It's broken, but I'm not going to overthrow the government. We need it for a reason. To fix the political system, fix the culture first. It's still sh*t especially on TV with Honey Boo Boo and Jimmy Kimmel. I recall 3 shootings in American schools in the last two months. There have been zero in Europe the whole year of 2012. Those gits at the NRA need to stop blaming gaming companies like Rockstar. Many states have already said they will not enforce anything that Obama, Piers Morgan, and all the other traitors want. If any fed is caught trying to arrest someone with an assault weapon in any of these states, that fed will be arrested and charged with a serious crime. Our constitution will not be edited by foriegn or domestic enemies of The United States. Obama is fanning the flames of revolution so *they* can apply martial law. There's no other explanation for what they are doing. The answer is simple in this gun debate: If you own weapons, keep them locked up in a gun safe. If you have a mentally unstabable person in the home, remove the guns. Be responsible like most gun owners are. It's common sense. Through the years since then it's been horror novels, "video nasties", snuff movies and video games. There's no doubt that in some cases these have formed the trigger for crazy people's final act of madness but that's true of the post being late, losing a job, flunking an exam and a million other reasons. I'm anti-gun, I live in the UK where gun crime is very low and the police aren't armed... but I'm a constitutional libertarian who supports a US citizen's right to bear arms simply because his nation was founded on a Constitution whose governing right is undeniable. Control of the most dangerous and unnecessary weapons should be exercised in any right-minded society but people need to remember that it's not guns that kill, it's crazy people. Do you guys think the recent discussion on Gun Control in the United States will affect the release of GTA V. How do you think the American press will respond to this game when it comes out? Do you think parents will be influenced by the press and forbid their kids to buy this game? GTA V is not for kids. It's rated M for Mature. Like previous GTAs. And it's a game for adults. I never leave any of my guns lying around loaded for anyone to get to because I am a responsible gun owner and have a gun safe. A gun ban will never happen in America. Most states will not enforce it and any federal agents caught trying to arrest someone will find themselves being arrested on sight. The second amendment is very clear. Norway is still slightly ahead of the USA in terms of body count. Did anybody every track down whether the Norway nut case played video games? I don't remember. And in my sig, at the moment, is an excerpt from the NRA reaction to the recent elementary school shootings, where the NRA head honcho points the finger at video games. On topic, if any effects occur at all to GTAV, I think that it will be in terms of finding a way to hit the NRA sarcastically. Ammunation was Rockstar's sly sarcasm on America's gun situation back in GTA III. What makes you think that I'm a gun owner? As I mentioned in the other thread about the Sandy Hook incident, I never like to own one even though I like 'em. I am never ever like Adam Lanza and never as those US autistic children with parents who lack responsibility. As you know, I am autistic too, but the parenting comes from discipline in the Philippines. Therefore, my family already know better than their families here when it comes to firearms. The Philippine people are socially conservative on them, so we made the sales harder back home. In the US, it's the other way around. Simply saying, the political spectrum flips. Fox News will be their usual ignorant self and spout off lies about it just like they do with any other game they don't like.
