Fatal Error: RESC10 - Out of Video Memory

i get this error after playing for about 2 mins, the error says "Fatal Error: RESC10 - Out of Video Memory". I never used to get it, it just started two days ago so i dont know why my computer is doing this, anyone else know how to fix it?

 

heres my pc specs:

 

Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit SP2

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4200+

4.0GB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 6450 (1GB)

RESC10 means there is not enough video memory to run the game. Grand Theft Auto IV requires a minimum of 256MB video memory

Yeah, but he has 1gb of Vram like he specified in the opening post.

 

@YLX: Look up the 'memrestrict' commandline and find your appropriate value, it should fix this issue.

Yes, but the OP did not say if that was TOTAL VRAM OR Dedicated VRAM? Also, from reading on here, 32-bit OS's limit the amount of memory that can be used, whereas 64-bit OS's do not? confused.gif

Try updating the driver for the video card. If that doesn't do the trick, see if a system restore fixes the problem.

well i run the game with medium textures so should i use "-memrestrict 314572800" or the one for high?

You should multiply your amount of vram used by 1024 twice, so let's say if you're using 800/1200 or something like that it'd be 800x1024x1024 = "-memrestrict 838860800" (without quotes), just make sure to use your appropriate value.

 

If it still crashes, keep lowering your number until it's stable.
