MythicalNomad
There's not gonna be many clothes to choose from, I can guarantee it. It's gonna be like GTA IV. Good to know we have someone who can look into the future Right!? who the f*ck does this guy think he is? Who do I think I am? Someone that's being realistic. Think about not being able to buy properties, that's something that a large amount of GTA gamers were looking forward to. Stripping out purchasing safehouses for your player is a huge slap in the face, considering there's supposed to be a vibrant economy in the game. Do you honestly think they're going to go through the trouble of making a ton of different clothing pieces, and on top of that, clothing pieces for each character? Of course they won't. There's a lot that Rockstar Games did wrong in GTA IV, and I have a feeling they'll do it again. You can tell that Trevor's denim jacket in one of the screenshots is a set clothing-piece instead of being layered. Now San Andreas' clothing wasn't layered, but it's obvious that Rockstar Games are trying to fit the clothing around the character. They'll likely go into more effort to create a smaller amount of decent clothes that looks like it actually suits the character, as opposed to a wide variety. Time will tell. R* have promised that we'll have plenty to spend money on, we've already seen things GTA IV didn't have such as watches and other jewelry as well as the likelihood of tattoos, and they'll be wanting to compensate for the lack of property purchase and mini-games limited to each character so it wouldn't surprise me if they delivered a lot more clothing options than IV. Furthermore, we've seen Michael wearing the same pair of shorts and flip flops both with and without a T-shirt which could signify the ability to mix and match. Trevor's denim jacket may be a pre-set upper body piece meaning you can't take off the denim jacket and only wear the shirt underneath but that doesn't mean the entire outfit is pre-set, could just be the top half which you can mix with whatever you like on the bottom. I think there will almost certainly be pre-set outfits in the game such as scuba gear and racing gear and perhaps some suits but there'll probably also be the ability to mix and match either just as much if not more than IV, especially given LA's glamorous culture and emphasis on appearance and image. I do however concur with your dismissal that it'll be on the level of San Andreas, that's expecting too much certainly with three protagonists, but I do think it'll be more than IV. Hopefully the more robust selection of clothing will be part of the supposed vibrant economy on display.

ITSLOCBABY
I can see it being like Vice City and TBoGT, set outfits. I personally prefer this, as long as there are 10+ outfits per character (and then the special ones on top, like the bug exterminator suits in the trailer). The HD era is a lot more serious, not gonna be able to dress Trevor in a gimp suit and give him a blonde afro. This makes sense IMO but I know most people want all the crazy character customisations. But hair cuts, tatts, ridiculous clothing isn't what R* are going for I don't think.
thedamned38
id be fine with it if they had the same set up as they had in IV just a bit more to choose from and also more hats, sunglasses, and maybe watches.

Yeah my bad, I didn't mean I assumed all clothing will be part of a single outfit (a la Vice City, etc), but more specifically the jacket Trevor is wearing that displays multiple layers, simply being one item as opposed to layers. I definitely think you'll be able to mix and match, e.g. sweat pants with a t-shirt, but not on the same level as San Andreas, like you said. Thanks for actually being constructive, as opposed to childish like a good number of GTAForums members are.
Biggie Deaf
I would like more clothes, but as long as it is character related, moreso certain characters like certain types of clothes. But to have the mixture across each store and to be able to wear the clothes that the other characters like would be cool.

Bonfy
I don't get why there should be specific clothing for each protagonist. I think each of them should be able to access all the clothing stores and buy everything. Trevor may look weird in an elegant suit, but why take away the option to dress him like that? If someone thinks it's weird he can simply not do it.
DzNutz
All clothes should be bought at different stores and locations (Like in Saints row) So I should be able to go to a certain spot with Trevor to get a certain jacket and then go to the same location with Mike to get the same jacket. More interiors than ever!! HELLO?? A bunch of different stores, a bunch of different clothes. Country type gear in the country by Trevor, High class stuff by Mike, and cool stuff by Franks. junkpile
This time, things will be different because everyone already lives in Los Santos, except for Trevor, but still, he is at home in Blaine County. Meaning, everyone should already have a variety in clothes at home. It wouldn't make sense if Michael would only have a default outfit and nothing else. Same goes for Franklin. No matter if it's Binco, Zip or Perseus, everyone has to own some clothes. Even Trevor.

The technical reason not to do that is that the three characters have different body shapes and so each shirt/jacket and pants model would have to be made three times in the shape of each character's torso and legs. Those man-hours could be used instead to give each character a larger number of unique pieces of clothing. I agree they should all have a variety of choices, such as they should all be able to wear suits, just not the same suits. It's more plausible the characters could share worn accessories such as glasses and hats that are separate models, but even then it would be cooler to have unique designs, for example everyone in The Matrix movies has individually custom-designed sunglasses. Zee
What we need are ALL the MALE clothing stores that R* have come up with (check the ingame internet). Each clothing store MUST have hats, glasses, jeans, shorts, shirts, V neck shirts, ties, jewelry, shoes etc. IVs shops only had shirts, pants and suits and shoes. Only 1 shop had hats and glasses and let's face it, they weren't the best. There are around 20 shops that R* have come up with(includes the ones we have used and the ones they just advertised). I wanna see em all and I wanna see a huge verity of clothing options. This is how I see it: the poor areas only have a few(basic/cheap) clothes and stores. The average areas have more shops and the branches that are there and in the poor area have way more clothing. The rich areas will have it all and some shops will be even double story. You should be able to buy clothes from malls as well. Selection: When you see a shirt you like but isn't that perfect then you should have options to edit it a little. Tucked or un tucked Open or closed Long or short sleeve And finally the actual color. Pick what color you want on it for each section.(Think WWE custermisation) Oh I forgot. I wanna get the chance to buy ALL the clothes that the guys(peds/friends/contacts) wear. If R* did all this then no one would complain about not having enough custermisation options for their protags. What you guys think... Im thinking itll be a few selectable outfits like Gay Tony had and thats about it
