concerns due the development of the game industry

Im a bit worried about the final product of GTA5.

U all know that there will be no properties to buy and its uncertain if there will be cloth-customization or just some pre-sets.

And if u watch the general development of the game industry in the last years, i'm worried about that game.

If u watch the NFS MW (2012) for example, u see that they totally toned down the game. thats not a NFS in any way.

another example is Gears of War Judgment which seems to not be a real GoW anymore because of making it more attractive for casual gamers by taking out some core elements.

So imo it possible that R* will take out some elements like they did with GTA4 already. Like the burglary missions, car tuning, cloth customization, tatoos, stealthing and so on.

this 3 protagnist thing is one thing which could destroy the whole GTA feeling.

i would even say that its possible that we are not even able to enter shops and that there is like a quick menu to buy goods and so on. ( just like in NFS MW where u can do everything witch one simple menu ) To save time and for other reasons.

I really hope they do not change these things just to make the game faster and easier for casuals...

And sorry for bad the grammar

i doubt it... if anything... they'll add the creativity back into GTA.... they wont risk doing anything... it'll damage GTA rep.

Why would it destroy the franchise ? so you want to play the same thing over and over again just set in a different map with different characters, i like that R* actually dare to put in some creativity just to keep the franchise fresh and new which is important otherwise it will end up like COD, the same sh*t all the time.

I think the 3 switchable characters is one of the smartest things they have done! They have took a massive risk and i think it'll pay off, im really excited for this bit of the game, i think, this is what will set this gta apart from the rest.

if i would know it i wouldnt say "its possible".

but one reason would be that it takes out the depth of the story and your connection to the character.

It doesnt necessarily needs to do that.

Since GTA IV they have made a couple of other games, like RDR and that was an amazing game. Have some faith.

Look at it this way the NFS franchise has been burning away for years now, they keep trying in vain to bring it back.

Besides it's an EA title, kings of the rehashed yearly releases.

Gears well I never liked the series so can't comment.

I remember the other day there was a thread here about some kid complaining about GTA not releasing sooner and saying they should release one every 3 years.

OP your thread answers why they should stick to "when it's done, then we release". Setting false expectations then under performing can be left to EA because quite frankly Rockstar are a much more professional company.

Exactly, rockstar know what they are doing, with games such a rdr and mp3, i sure wouldn't question them on there ways of making games.

I think that R* heard many fans' problem with GTA IV being bland, or boring, so, I think R* is bringing the fun back this time. They showed a screen of a submersible vehicle for gods sakes! Look at Trailer #2! I can only imagine what we haven't seen and I'm thinking that V may end up being the mother of all GTA's, thus far. I was a little pist at first because there is no owning properties, but I'm sure R* has a good reason for it, considering it was probably the most popular thing that a lot of fans wanted back. There's nothing to worry about. Wait 'til you play the game for a couple months before passing judgement.

What is a casual player? Is it someone who only looks at the screen every so often? Or one that just plays games on the display units in shops?

So what's the worry? If they're not looking at the screen, then they're not going to be following the action. And I doubt they'd buy consoles and games if they were going to look away every so often. They'd probably play games that are cheap and quick to play (like a flash game or a smartphone game) or they'll play Farmville or Mafia Wars or whatever on Facebook.

The OP is falling into the trap of thinking that because games are easier and better designed developers are somehow dumbing down games. They're not. What is happening is that developers are getting better at their jobs and the OP is getting older.

Didn't he mean with the first option people who only play every now and then?! That's at least what I meant.

I can see why you'd think that, but that wasn't what I was getting at. Either way, the point stands: casual players aren't the ones buying video games these days, or at least not in the numbers they once were.

RDR, MP3, SA and something something awesome, in one game - what is there to worry about?!

It will only be Read Dead Auto V if they include horses. I keep my fingers crossed that they will.

I really think that we have nothing to worry about. Rockstar knows what they are doing.

Also about the shops deal, gameinformer already said there were 7/11 things and each and every thing in the store had a seperate texture like a pack of cigarettes.

I have no doubt this will definitely be the best game yet!!

Why do you think it's been almost 5 years since the last GTA? There's no way they are watering down the series.

It's ALREADY "Red Dead Auto" since they've implemented mountains, countryside and a wildlife into the GTA universe

Well, one could argue that it's just taking it back from San Andreas and injecting some life and detail into it.

But it does kind of remind me of RDR at certain areas. But hey, that's a good thing. RDR was amazing.

So IMO it possible that R* will take out some elements like they did with GTA4 already. Like the burglary missions, car tuning, cloth customization, tattoos, stealthing and so on.

Those very elements you list there only appeared in one game: GTA:SA. So they're arguably not core to the series.

That said, remember that the ambulance, taxi, vigilante and fire truck missions remained almost completely unchanged for three main games (GTA:III, VC and SA). I can understand why they may have felt that they needed to shake them up a bit for GTA:IV. They reimagined some (Street Crimes, Most Wanted, Roman's Taxi jobs) and dropped others (shame).

I'd like to think that they'd try to complete the shake-up by reimagining more of these activities. But I suspect that such side-missions will be not as we know them and will be tailored to each of the three characters. For instance, it might not make sense for any of the characters to jump in a taxi and start doing fares.

Still. We'll see.

And sorry for bad the grammar.

Don't worry about it. Just keep trying and learning. Practice makes perfect.

Well ive never played Diablo. But from what i red and saw, it was a hugeee dissapointment and they waited a very very long time for it.

So the time means nothing. Its tge same with Ghost Recon Future soldier. Its not Ghost recon anymore and they have pushed it back for more than a year and at the end it was just crap tbh.

I dont say GTA will not be GTA anymore but when watching the industry it shows a trend and i hope GTA will get the depth it had with SA

I Shot The Sheriff

I'm a bit worried about that possibility, too. But you gotta trust R*. At least until you try the game.

i know exactly what you mean, i have the same concerns. with Rockstars past, i honestly have no clue what will be included in this game and what will not. San Andreas was a BENCHMARK FOR GREATNESS and then GTA4 came out and......lacked severly in single player content imo. i BELIEVE Rockstar may make this game San Andreas 2 and include All the great things from Midnight Club LA, LA Noire, San Andreas and GTA4....but i just have this feeling theyll leave some important things out....

only time will really tell.

Another thing which i just thought of:

We know that the main story will only be 25 hours which is about the same length as Ubisoft told us about Far Cry3 but at the end it did last not longer than a weekend to complete the main storyline.

The short lenghts could end up in a very linear gameplay. I mean that u always had the opportunity to do missions for many other guys and u were able to choose which one you want to do.
