Possibility of Prison Sentence

With there being three protagonists, and a rumored prison in the game, do you think that there is a possibility that one of the characters will be sent to prison at some point in the story?

 

When there was only one protagonist, going to prison for an extended period of time may have not pleased many of the players, whereas the option to switch between protagonists means that the player wouldn't have to play through the prison part if they didn't want to.

 

I'm not saying going to jail for masses of time, but just for a certain part of the story line. Here is my example:

 

 

Franklin and Lamar shoot at a rival gang member as he drives through their neighborhood, but are spotted by an undercover police car. They split up and try to get away but Franklin is caught and sentenced to a year in prison. The player can then control Franklin in prison and do side-missions such as prison fights and stabbing inmates of a rival gang.

 

Whilst all this is going on, the player can still play as Michael and Trevor, meaning they aren't forced to play any prison missions. Michael calls a contact at the FIB, the same one who he cut a deal with, and asks for Franklin to be released. The FIB agent agrees to release Franklin, but only if Michael does a job for him, which Michael and Trevor do whilst Franklin tries to survive in jail without being killed by rival inmates and crooked officers.

Since each protagonist is intertwined around a single storyline; having one of the protagonists being sent to prison at some stage in the storyline probably wouldn't work. If one of the protagonists were to be sent to prison at some stage of the storyline, it would have to be so that the protagonist that is in prison is not playable at all (in other words, no prison-specific missions for the protagonist who is in prison), and that the other two protagonists would have to work together to break him out in a heist style mission following a handful of planning type missions.

 

Anything other then that scenario couldn't possibly fit around an intertwined storyline IMO.

That's what I meant, the protagonist who is in prison is only given mini-game style missions to play whilst in prison, whereas the other two protagonists are able to keep the story moving forward, until the point where the incarcerated protagonist is free'd

Well maybe they make a prison rescue if that happens, we then manage to make a plan with the other 2 chars to rescue the third one before he gets send to another prison or gets killed by the other prisoners or something like that, maybe it's like the TLAD mission but to make a rescue.

Since a prison (based on victorville prison) is already confirmed I would say yes. I would like prison missions or a entire system when if you are arrested for something like murder or robbery you are send there for up to a few in game days/weeks and would have the choice to escape or sit out your sentence and engage in various things behind bars. Crimes like grand theft would just result in you standing outside the police stations with your weapons taken away.

I think it'd be cool to live the prison life with one of the characters for a while. That character could have access to something that the others do not, so getting out and using this new thing would be sweet.

No, Franklin is NOT going to jail. He isn't the type of character that is going to jail, unlike Michael and Trevor.

I don't even want a story section in there. I played through chapter 6 of mafia II, and it was easily the worst chapter in the game. The whole time I was in there it was either in the prison brawl circuit with 3 whole moves to use, following some officer or guy that I can't walk faster than for no apparent reason, and cleaning toilets. Cleaning toilets. In a god damn video game. f*ck that.

Personally I think that chapter was the best one in Mafia II it was very immersive and it fitted the story perfectly. Even the toilet cleaning part. Anyway, you would still have the choice wether to go to prison or pay a huge fine.

You know what I try to immerse myself in? Amusement parks (on youtube or in games), worlds with dragons and elves, worlds where car insurance is so good that when you crash you instantly respawn on the road, worlds where I'm the hulk, batman, or whatever.

 

Not prison. Prison sucks. It's a place I hate being. And I do not want to clean toilets. Cleaning toilets is not fun. I don't care if it's immersive, because in the end I would just be immersing myself in a place I f*cking hate being in.
