winme05
The GPU is an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (I don't know the exact model), and recently, it started going bit crazy. The most noticeable issue is that it doesn't let me roll back the driver, which was my first attempt trying to fix it. Another problem is that in the game Portal, portals ain't flaming (like in this video (not mine) ). Also, some of the textures supposed to be greenish brown, are rendered somewhat magenta. I can't give a screenshot now, but I'll upload one as soon as possible.
NaidRaida
Please change your font! This is really awful to read. I'm not willing to read this.
Narcis_speed6
You should reinstall the game, or check file integrity (if you own it on Steam)
winme05
You should reinstall the game, or check file integrity (if you own it on Steam) Tried reinstalling, no success. And I'm not on Steam. To NaidRaida Better?
WHAT!?
Most of your example has to do with Portal. Did you just install it and notice the issue, or have you had the game for a long time and suddenly noticed a change in the graphics? Also have you ever updated or changed the driver at all before having the problem? And finally... Do you run any other hardware accelerated games and if you do, how well do those games preform? Is the problem specific to Portal, or are problems consistent through all the games you own?
NaidRaida
Better? Much better! If you cannot roll back the driver I can only recommend you the hard way: Reinstall of the operating system. If your problems came out of nowhere maybe the card is simply done. It doesn't sound like a card to play games with. Is it an onboard graphic chip? 'Graphics Media Accelerator'.... this sounds like trash to me but I could be wrong. If you wanna play games, I don't see a reason to use an Intel GPU. Wolf68k
Tried reinstalling, no success. And I'm not on Steam. Portal is a Valve game which is Steam so how can you not be on Steam?

After that, I noticed this issue. To NaidRaida: How about uninstalling the driver and installing the older version? Also, I got this laptop free, so I'm not going to complain about it's GPU... EDIT: Managed to roll it back, still no change. Edited January 18, 2013 by winme05
winme05
Okay, tested also Hitman: Codename 47 and GTA III. C47 runs fine, but GTA III crashes when changing resolution. EDIT: the same happens on VC Edited January 26, 2013 by winme05

Trund
It would be good to know what Laptop you have, to know exactly which Intel GMA you have. Edit: Never mind didn't see it's in the post title. Have you tried downloading new drivers from Intel? http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResu...+Chipset+Family Edited February 10, 2013 by Trund

Trund
Alright. What Windows do you have? You can try the unofficial Royal BNA Driver, it's pretty much an advanced driver that's supposed to fix problems and enhance performance, however there's no guarantee that it will work and you'll install them on your own risk (if you decide to do it). For Windows Vista/7/8 32bit http://teknogods.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=9311 For Windows Vista/7/8 64bit http://teknogods.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=9331 Also make sure to check the FAQ: http://teknogods.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=6106 Note though that they don't work with Windows XP. winme05
Frag. I'm on XP, and I'm not upgrading to 8/7/Vista - don't like them.
Trund
Maybe that's the problem with it? Windows XP will give you more trouble with games nowadays than Windows 7. Your laptop was also designed for Windows Vista (yes, Vista is pure crap), so I can imagine that the problem could be the OS, as even the Intel drivers seem to be newer for Windows 7 as well. It's either that, a serious conflict between drivers which probably will be nearly impossible to fix without a complete format, or a hardware defect. The Intel GMA is unfortunately not exactly a real GFX either, which just makes things worse.

Trund
Could be that the drivers messed up for it. I guess there are only a few reasons for this problem, 1) Conflicting drivers, 2) Damaged hardware, 3) Some other problems with the game. You said this only happens with Portal, right? Is this the only game that's not working properly? Because this would, in my opinion, rule out the damaged hardware.

Trund
Could be a DirextX problem, maybe. It's very difficult to determine the cause as you don't have an actual graphics card. You could try installing new DirectX, if you haven't, or attempt to reinstall it. Even though the latter seems to be rather complicated. I've never attempted it myself but in the case you feel like trying I found this guide: http://www.raymond.cc/blog/how-to-uninstal...repair-directx/ The best option would be to do a format and do a fresh install for everything. I know however how annoying this is, and I wish I could help you further with your problem but I'm running out of ideas here.
