fridaynightscream
I'm a huge fan of the TV show and for Christmas I got the first 3 volumes of the Graphic Novels but this weekend or next week I'm getting this. In case you didn't know, it features the first 8 volumes of the Graphic Novels which roughs to around 1000 pages. I can't wait to read it, I think it covers Seasons 1-3. So maybe I can read beyond the show's status before Season 4 which would be awesome. So does anyone hear read The Walking Dead graphic novels? By the way, please post spoilers. I already know some unfortunate spoilers, like that Tyresse dies
Inky
I have the first four books and I still haven't gotten to the fourth one. Great story for a zombie theme and I really enjoy the artwork a lot. Funny thing is I started with these before the show and then took a "little" break (which has been a year now, at least) and the show popped up. I still haven't seen an episode either, I don't want to spoil anything.

Haven't started the third season but I hear better things about it. Don't expect the show to be amazing, they took to many liberties and ruined most of the pacing. Plus, most episodes are 'WHERE IS ( Insert character )?' Fighting amongst the characters 'WHERE IS ( insert new character )?' Daryl does something f*cking awesome More fighting Tense moment as Zombies arrive Rick acts like a bitch Credits
BullworthAcademy
I heard #100 is the most shocking and violent. What happens exactly?
DonkeyEatingCheese
I have read till issue #94. I read them last year. Will read the others asap.
Firefly8000
I heard #100 is the most shocking and violent. What happens exactly? I'm guessing you don't mind spoilers? It's pretty huge. Glenn gets beaten to death by the Saviors. And I mean BEATEN. It's f*cking brutal. It was a major turn since Glenn had been in the comics pretty much since the beginning. darthYENIK
I'm currently obsessed with Batman "Death of the Family", but once that's done, and I get Batman vol. 1 "Night of the Owls", I'm going to focus on the Walking Dead. I'll probably get the Compendiums. I actually saw Compendium 1 at Wal-Mart for $40. As for what I've read already, I've read only up to #10 (when they just get to Hershal's farm). I believe you can get the Compendiums cheaper than that on Amazon. I bought the first one for like 30 bucks. My fiancee bought me the second one for about 40 though. Anyway I think I'll start collecting the volumes since the compendiums take way to long to come out. Fiancee thinks I'm a nerd, but I'm just a geeky dude. WF the Hobgoblin
I've read Volume 1: Days Gone Bye. Borrowed it from my youngest brother - he's really into it. I watch tv show but only seen the first two seasons so far. Don't read a whole lot of comics. Mostly just Batman ones and even then, it's usually just the graphic novels and compilations rather than following the series.

When it comes to amazon, I only trust them with hardcovers when it comes to comics/graphic novels. I mean it's not amazon I mistrust, it's the postal/delivery service. But if I were to go to a brick and mortar store, I'd probably go to my local shop... http://cornerstorecomics.com/ It won't be cheaper, but it supports a business I like. The only business within 5 miles that does comics right, and doesn't have half the store filled with Warhammer and D&D tables.
Jonesizzle
I collect the volumes... These are the only comics I've ever read. Good stuff, even if you don't prefer the show. Also, fridaynightscream, it's a shame you had to get the first three volumes first, rather than just get the big ass book. I already bought 3 or 4 volumes and realized it would've been a cheaper route buying them in the bigger books rather than volumes. Want to say I spent well over 150 bucks on what you see.. Ziggy455
I have the first four books and I still haven't gotten to the fourth one. Funny thing is I started with these before the show and then took a "little" break (which has been a year now, at least) and the show popped up. I still haven't seen an episode either, I don't want to spoil anything. I noticed that the type of drawing changes. In Issue #1 and many others the artistic style is well shadowed, blocky, yet detailed lines with a more cartoonish effect. I have The Book Of The Dead Part Three and the artwork is much more jagged and cinematic. Robert Kirkman is a brilliant writer and although the story does sort of change -Shane? Two Seasons? RICK KILLS HIM?- it's one of the most faithful adaptions I've seen. All the changes of the story aren't frowned upon by the original fans because they actually improve the story. Season four has been greenlit and I flicked through the last compendium at my local bookstore. It's huge. The last page is of Rick and Carl escaping the prison. I'm thinking of buying all the compendiums. "I might have laughed if I'd have remembered how."
guib
I can't wait to read it, I think it covers Seasons 1-3. The show doesn't exactly follow the novels though, things that happens in the novels doesn't necessary need to happen in the tv show, besides some characters aren't even in the tv show and visa versa. Like awesome Daryl isn't in the novels and the twins of the family Ben and Billy aren't in the tv show.

I've got both of them, but I just hate that it takes so long for them to come out. I've been contemplating snatching up all the volumes starting from where compendium 2 left off. Then just grabbing the third and selling the volumes it includes. Edited January 18, 2013 by ryuclan
Jonesizzle
Ryuclan, I would wait for the third book. You will lose a chunky change by buying volumes only to sell them back to get the compendium. I, obviously, dont know your financial state but from that perspective I would just wait, especially since you have the first and second book. fridaynightscream
I was hoping to buy the Compendium 1 from my local comic book store but someone bought the last copy so I bought it off Amazon and now unfortunately I gotta wait till Tuesday, and after hearing darthYENIK's thing about losing paperbacks in the mail I'm a little worried. I'm sure it'll be fine though.
Typhus
Very happy when Lori died. Such an awful, unpleasant character. She toys with Shane's feelings and has the gall to spit on his f*cking grave? She mooches off Hershel and has the cheek to shout at him when he wanted them to leave his land? f*cking bitch. And what makes it worse is she never once apologised for her behaviour. And never showed any indication of dismounting that high horse she was sitting on for so long - reaping the benefits of Rick's ruthless leadership but making him feel like sh*t for it at every turn. f*ck her. Oh, and the Governor was a great character. I genuinely sympathised with him and rooted for him during the attack on the Prison. A great, great man. Sad to see him go. When I saw that last frame I felt great. That bitch deserved it. She was the reason Shane turned the way he did, she was the reason Rick started going crazy (trying to protect her) and she was the start of a lot of arguments and issues with everyone else. I can't remember when she started pissing me off, but I'm sure it's pretty close to the beginning of the story. @fridaynightscream: I wouldn't worry about shipping. My first book came in a box with bubble wrap in it. The second one came in a sack type thing in a box. Both had no folds, creases, stains, or wetspots. Thanks a bundle for making me know one of my favorite new characters on the show and later on in the comic is gonna die, I really apertiate it.
