How Many Safehouses Will We Have...

We'll get 3 safehouses. One for Michael, one for Franklin, one for Trevor. Don't expect much more, you'll only get disappointment.

yeah but that story was different cos you killed people and acquired their properties this is all about heist's i really cant see there being more than the 3 you already own per person

Um, I'm pretty sure in EVERY GTA but the DLC's and small episodes that we gain houses. And I'm also sure this game will have lots of killing with heists too, I mean come on it's a GTA. dozingoff.gif

I'm going to say 9 ,3 for each character. It would be sick if they had 1 giant mansion that all 3 can save at.

Some temporary safehouses could be cool, kinda like the ones in RDR. You walk up there and you pay for it, then you get to sleep in the bed to save the game and/or change your outfit, but only once before you have to pay again.

 

...It would also mean more interiors, which is always welcome.

I'd really like hotels and motels. I'm sure a lot of us are going to spend time on the road. If we only have like 3 houses(meh), we should have somewhere to stop and save instead of having to travel all of the way to a sh*t hole, or to South LS, or to Rockford.

one for each character: a mansion, a condo, and a rusty old trailer... personally, a tent in the woods is what i want.

yeah i reckon there will be a few places like that, a shared safehouse between the 3 of them while they all have there own family homes, available only to them. the shared safehouses will be much more interactive maybe being able to buy pool tables and arcade machines to wind down with after planning the next big hiest.

I'm going to say each character will gain an extra safehouse on their journey. So each charcter with 2 safehouses, 6 total. Michael with his Mansion in Rockford Hills and maybe come across a beautiful Resort home in the mountains? I could see Franklin with his basic house in South L.S. then also that loft. Trevor with his trailer in Blaine County, then as the story progresses he runs into a person who gives him this old, immobile yacht. He uses it as a crash pad only to sleep and change. After a while he has the option to fix up the yacht, resulting in it being then used as mobile safehouse for water.

 

Also, I believe that all three will share a main base. This base will be fairly large in size, and can store many vehicles. It will only come available later on in the story. About the motels/hotels, I hope Rockstar includes this idea. Perfect for those long trips, and makes for a good stopover point. We've mentioned mobile safehouses, like camper vans and RVs (possibly boats), great idea, but I'm still a bit skeptical if it will be included.

I see a lot and judging the fact that iv didn't even have really any actual houses with garages(the rich people) it didn't make sense for niko to be really really rich and the vehicles were very limited as well, no jets, no planes, no offroad vehicles. niko's storyline wasn't about money entirely, but money is the theme here i see enormous houses in the end and i'd say around 10-25 safehouses(25 is a bit high i know)

This honestly makes the most sense. Either a set base of operations or a a rotating base of operations for each heist. I mean if I think of every good heist movie, there is always a place that isn't someone's house where the heist gets planned. Somewhere where you can dump acquired supplies, lay out the plans, meet up with your team and of course set on fire if the cops get close to you.

I think we will be able to rent, more so than own, a lot of additional properties. Renting allows you easy access to a qoick safe hideout until you can get yourself ready to get back home. As the story progresses, other properties will be available to be used by all 3 characters. I'll say no more than 4 additional properties. Not counting all the rental space.

I think it would make sense for 1 to 2 safehouses per protagonist. Plus, don't forget you can switch to a different character at any time. so if you weren't really doing something important that you want to save, but you are still pretty far from the current character's safehouse, you can just switch to someone else and go save. I am pretty sure that Rockstar would have it so that when you save the game, everything is saved exactly where you had left it.

 

I just hope they don't have it where you save and then a certain amount of time pass.

i want an RV vehicle for saving

 

imagine it works sorta like camping in RDR,but in this game,you MUST buy the vehicle,and you can drive it anywhere,and stop it and save,and it allows you to change clothes too:)

 

oh yea and motels too,that we able to rent and save,that makes more sense and immersion too,i will be surprise if rockstar didnt do that

Like many of you have stated, I find it more than likely that we will have hotels similar to the ones in RDR.

 

I've also got a feeling that at least Trevor will get a second safehouse (how will he store vehicles if he lives exclusivley in a trailer), which might be the airstrip. Michael will have just the one in Rockford Hills. And Franklin will move to a nicer place as he moved up in society.

I don't think we will get many houses during storyline, rather there will be alternative forms of saving imo. I think we will get houses in similiar way like we got mansion from Diaz in Vice City.

I doubt that. R* knows how pissed everyone got with so little spaces to save your cars.

Above me: that would be a stupid move imo. People would be pissed.

Why would they be pissed? I would much rather earn a house from taking it over by force if I can't buy it than getting a hand out from the game.

Driving back to your safe house to save has always been part of the charm of gta for me. I hope there's hotels/motels though as some people have speculated.

I think purely due to the size of the map in gta v, there will be more than 1 safehouse per character. Gta IV had one per island for one character, RDR had multiple for rent for one character - and bare in mind the gta v map is bigger than these two maps combined! You wouldn't want to be out in the sticks as Michael and have to drive ALL the way to Rockford Hills just to safe the game.

 

Furthermore we should consider the context of gta v; it is set in the current day where the recession is prominent. In the real world the market for rented accomodation has gone up as opposed to the market for purchased property. Since Rockstar have confirmed we wont be able to "purchase" property sad.gif this does not neccessarily rule out renting property, and economically it wouldn't be an unjustified move. Branching off from this point, Houser stated that there will be a "vibrant economy" allowing players to use their in-game money for a variety of things. How 'vibrant' would it be if we had to ensure we had enough money to pay rent every week? It would certainly give us an incentive to continue robbing banks and steal money off NPCs. It would also slow down the time it took to purchase every item available in the game since we owe a certain amount in rent every in-game week. Obviously the more luxurious the property the higher the rent. This - in my opinion - would certainly make players manage their money better. And guess what gta v is all about...

I like the idea of having a caravan or trailer and being able to save the game as if it were a campfire RDR style and save it anywhere (maybe this is an item/toy that HAS to be bought. I reckon there will be about 3-9 safe houses for each char (some will be the same for all). A map this big you need plenty of save points/safe houses. Up to 3 in the city, 2 in/nr the mountains and the rest in and around the desert. Maybe 1 underwater safehouse? would be cool (accessible by sub and/or a hidden entrance to the underground subway rail network (If there is going to be 1)

I hope there will be more safehouses available. If you think about the size of the map, it would really be quite a flaw to limit players to a single safehouse. Personally, I wish there were various types of safehouses, a trailer (confirmed), a loft (confirmed), a big modern style house by the river/sea, a mansion, (I do not consider Michael's house a mansion, not even close), a villa in the desert, a big wooden house in the mountains, rooms (motel rooms, hotel rooms, presidential suites, penthouses), et cetera.

 

I ask for 4 or 5 safehouses per character, and certainly not crappy apartments where your bathroom door is locked! It may seem like a lot, but San Andreas only had one character and a smaller map and we had tons of houses. I definitely would like some interactivity inside the house and probably some secret rooms (a sweet bunker with tons of guns hanging in the wall).

 

I am not liking how R* is making excuses for not having dating and properties in the game. First of all they were the ones who came up with the characters! Its not like they are making a game out of a movie or book and can't go off script! If they don't have dating and properties its because they don't want to and I really would like to understand what part of the characters goes against buying properties!
