How Many Safehouses Will We Have...

We will most likely be given a few safe houses through the storyline.

We will also most likely be able to stay at motels.

1 for each character and thats it. This is HD era Rockstar we're talking about.

Edit: Also, the Vinewood Hills are nowhere near South Central Los Santos. Hollywood is in the north.

As Z said. Micheal will have his mansion, Franklin will have wherever he has, Trevor will have his trailer, and I'll have my ass.

-Unless something happens with Michael in the storyline specifically his family, I think Michael will only have his house in Rockford Hills. That's his and his family's home and it wouldn't make sense if he lived somewhere else, unless he left his wife or they died??

-Trevor will maybe upgrade to an apartment or a small house as he progresses with his drug business.

-Franklin is the only one who I can maybe see having a couple of properties. But all we know about him so far is that he's ambitious and a repo man, so to say that he'll be a CJ type character is stupid at the moment, IMO. I think we'll have to wait and see how the story unfolds.

One thing that I HOPE they have if we are only given limited safehouses is garage space. Like rented garage space separate to your safehouse? Like lock-ups for NPC characters, that we always had to take stolen cars to. If these spaces were close to our houses, this would solve the issue of having to choose between cars to save. I'll say again, Saints Row's garage system is awesome and would work really well, look it up if you want.

Also let us check into hotels. Its simple and hasn't been done yet. I used to hate driving all the way back to my house to save. And if we've only got limited houses hotels/motels are needed. If I'm Michael and I find myself out in the middle of nowhere, I'd rather check into a little motel for the night, save it, sleep instead of driving allll the way back to Rockford Hills.

There are three safehouses in total. One for Michael, one for Trevor and one for Franklin.

That will be all tounge2.gif

Some people own beach houses or summer vacation homes when they're wealthy.

Maybe each character will have at least 2-3 additional safe houses at best, barring that that isn't too much.

I can see Trevor being upgraded to a nice Ranch Style house in the countryside or near the desert. I can also see Michael having a nice home that he uses as an escape to get away from his family and relax his mind.

This.

I am going to guess 2-3 for each. You probably won't need a safe house to save the game,

since R* seems big on the "Auto-Save" now...so there really isn't a huge call for them.

I hope you're wrong, I don't like autosave at all. It's sh*tty especially if I feel the need to act crazy and end of torching all of my saved cars or dying, losing money, etc.

It better not be mandatory to have autosave, and if it's not, I'm sure you will need safehouses to save, or random save spots like in SA.

I agree. I think we'll only have 3.

It's sad, if someone said to me back in 2004.. "Enjoy buying safehouses in GTA because you most likely wont be able to do it for another 15 years, if even." I would have told them to f*ck off. Now look. Or..in 2004 if someone said, "enjoy multiple cities, you wont see that again in the HD or next gen life cycle." Funny.

As much as I agree each character will only get one safehouse (plus other ways of saving, similar to the camp fire in RDR), if I was told in 2004 that the next San Andreas map would be more than triple the current map-size and in HD, I would have told them to f*ck off. You win some you lose some.

I agree. I wish I had known how crappy this generation was going to be, I would have been way less excited and as a result dissapointed.

@ PinkFLoyd, I like the way you put that.

And I generally agree about the fear of too few safehouses. I almost always play TGOBT rather than the original GTA IV because I like the weapons better, but it totally pisses me off that there is only one safehouse. I am hoping that Rockstar realizes how screwed up that was, and lets us obtain a number of safehouses / businesses all over the map.

Over the years of replay I want to get from GTAV, I expect to spend weeks or months at at time striking out from one locale, then go specialize and explore and raise hell in another area for a few months. That's a pain in the ass when there are too few safehouses on a big map. As a fair example, RDR allows me to spend a long time in Mexico, then hang out back in the US.

1 each IMO with a possible exception of Michael obtaining another if his financial really is that bad and gets the foot from his wife. Without buyable properties I don't see why they would need more than 2 each at the most.

I'm thinking motels/hotels will play a role like places such as Ridgewood Farm in RDR and maybe we'll be able to set up camp anywhere in the wilderness though I see motels/hotels being more likely.

Kifflom112; Autosave can be turned on and off in all of R*'s current gen games. Why would it be different in GTA V?

I'm thinking motels/hotels will play a role[...]

Come to think of it, this actually seems like a very realistic idea; rather than the traditional manner obtaining several safehouses throughout the course of the storyline.

I couldn't imagine each character having any more then two - with one somewhere in the city, and another out in the countryside/desert somewhere. If each of the safehouses are shared between the three protagonists, then that would be more then enough IMO if we are able to utilize hotels/motels to save the game.

I doubt that we will be able to set up camp out in the wilderness as a means of saving, but who knows. It's possible nonetheless.

One thing I'm wondering is if we can save at another protagonist's safe house? If not this could be where motels/hotels come in handy. If we're in Rockford Hills as say Trevor and can't save at Michael's house wouldn't it make sense to go to the nearest motel/hotel?

Infact given the multiple protagonists being able to save at motels/hotels is a must IMO. I honestly can't seem them sharing a safehouse unless it's for the purpose of laying low in the story.

Trevor Steve's safehouse is a trailer, that's been confirmed already. So can we assume to safe wherever we want (Trevor Steve only). You know driving with his trailer to place A, stop driving trailer, take a nap (used for saving also). 6 hours past or so. then driving to place B, take a nap, game saves, etc......

what if rockstar changed their minds and now will give us the ability to buy some properties after the bad reactions to that from the GI cover story. You never really know. Let's find out

I think basically every one has his own safehouse, but we can safe the game as Michael also in Trevors Trailer and Franklins home.

Maybe later we need to pick other safehouses for security reasons (like in IV)

What I'm hoping for is:

- rent rooms in cheap motels and good hotels (will cost some money of course)

- Something like a mobile home, where we can drive through the map and safe everywhere (on top of a mountain etc)

Nope. First of all - why do you call him Trevor Steve? You are a troll, right?

Second: Nope. Trevors trailer will be "fixed" - but maybe a motorhome or something (or a volkswagen bully) or something.

Fact is his last name is Steve.

TREVOR STEVE

Fact is that you suck in trolling

If you would be a ped in the game, I would punch you to dead.

I don't think we will get new safehouses because all 3 characters already have a house.

And Niko already had an apartment in IV, after the other burning down, yet he still recieved more houses.

yeah but that story was different cos you killed people and acquired their properties this is all about heist's i really cant see there being more than the 3 you already own per person

Considering the huge size of the map, I'd bet that there are several safehouses spread out over the map, and probably some in the countryside as well.

What's with only one safehouse? Do you really want to be doing missions in the countryside and then having to go all the way back to the city to save?

As we were discussing above - instead of having multiple safehouses for each character, hotels/motels could be used to save the game if you are out in the countryside. If this is to be the case, it would mean that you wouldn't need to travel all the way into the city in order to save the game as you can just go to a hotel and save the game there, which would also be used as checkpoints/load points.

Don't forget about the autosave feature which basically saves your progress upon completing almost any mission or activity. It's inclusion in GTA IV basically meant that I, personally, almost never used the safehouses for the purpose of saving the game and as such, they became almost redundant.

Auto-save works for after you complete a mission, but should you come across a cool car you want to keep and you decide to stop playing, you're still gonna need a safehouse.

Drive it to the nearest safe house and save? The map doesn't need to be littered with safehouses like in SA. Maybe motels could have parking spaces and hotels have undecover and secure parking.
